Two stars for a number of reasons. Georges will not split the bill for any reason. So inconvenient. Also, will not take a booking on the phone even if they answer. Ridiculous. Today I had carrot cake..it was so stale, hard and tasteless. I told the waitress and the manager who said he will talk to the kitchen!!! The cakes are not made on the premises but bought in. I would say some days old. All in all not good experiences. Definitely overpriced and very disappointing.

A large spacious restaurant with a very open layout. It is located on a prime spot of burke rd. The menu is broad and the waiters are friendly. It is a reliable local.

We had a large group (booked for 40) on Saturday night, when there were several other groups in as well. The restaurant was very crowded.
The young man in charge handled our needs really well, checking in frequently to make sure everything was satisfactory.
The waiters coped very well with members of the group moving around, changing seats, and never seemed flustered when people didn't recognise the food that was presented to them, but simply found the correct diner for each food or drink item.
They were friendly and patient, so we could all relax and enjoy our evening.
The meals were hot and many of our group commented on how quickly the meals had come out, considering the number of guests for whom the kitchen was catering. The only downside was that some of the mains seemed rather small, but nobody complained. The eye fillets were superb, and those who tried the pea and haloumi fritters (on the recommendation of other WOMO participants) were not disappointed.
Without going into detail on how the staff facilitated our evening, I must say that they really did go above and beyond expectations with their generous spirit.
Everyone said they had had a lovely evening, which is always good news for the host, and I would like to thank especially that young man who made everything run so smoothly (no names!)
This is definitely a place to consider when you are looking to have a group function. Just don't plan any speeches - it is quite noisy in there with all of those people!

I went here a few days ago with a friend & was blown away. Loved the décor. Menu was delicious. I had the fritters which were yummy. Good size portions for a reasonable price. I gave 5 stars for their service cause they didn't harass me. They knew when to come over & when to stay away. I had a lovely time.

I love dining at Georges for a casual meal with friends. There is always a table, something on the menu I feel like and great service. In my opinion they make the best calamari, perfect with a glass of wine over lunch.

Sounds like a nice place to eat at.

A really lovely restuarant, with a great history. Service is great, and there is a nice large function room above. A bit pricey for every day, so only for a something special occasion!

George's has a good menu selection, and the food is really quite lovely and delicious. Pastas are great, chicken risotto is delicious. So is the steak sandwich, the chocolate thickshakes, the iced chocolates, and the creme brulee. I cannot forget the arancini balls. Service is not bad. We keep going back, so it must be good!

Great staff! I took my 7 week old baby and they accomodated for us. They made sure we had a good seat with plenty of space for the capsule. The service was excellent and very attentive. I found the food quite pricey but it tasted great.

The menu is good here - plenty of variety for any taste. Their prices are quite expensive for some of their basic dishes. Nice place but a bit too noisy unless you're happy to go with a group of "noisies" as well

This is a great place to have as a local cafe. It is big enough that you will always get a table, the menu is varied enough that you will probably find something you feel like, service is friendly and efficient, the food comes out quickly and is of good if not outstanding quality. Georges is very family friendly with a nice kids menu. The prices are moderate.

very family friendly place, we went back there many times, the chicken was great, friendly staff. great place for dinner or just a cup of coffee.

Decent, consistent food. Waiting period for meals is pretty short and waiters are very friendly and attentive. The downside is that foods are little overpriced, though. They accommodate families very well so if you have a family and want to take them out for a special dinner, this is the place for you!

Been here a few times with my girlfriend. Nice setting (tables a little bit to close though), friendly staff and some delicous meals. However to avoid the family chaos highly recommend going after 8:30 or so. otherwise very noisy

highlight of George's is that it is consistent. the food is always decent, short waiting period for meals to come out and their waiters are always attentive, friendly and polite. the food is pretty good but nothing special, and maybe a little overpriced, however this is made up for in quantity!

Atmosphere is open & inviting-very modern decor and I like the view of the kitchen. Waiters are friendly and efficient and always close by to fill up your glass of water and take your orders/requests. Food is the best I've had (chicken risotto is fantastic) and coffee is great too. I'll be back again and again and again.....

We happened to go to Georges last night for dinner. We had intended to go to Italy 1 but it didn't open till 6 pm & the rude waitress obviously wasn't happy that we had kids with us. She was just AWFUL. Off we went next door at 5.55pm to Georges. The range of food on the menu was so-so. The prices were in the higher bracket. But it is Burke Rd Camberwell & it is a huge restaurant. There is a kid's menu. Heaps of families there. The food was very good. My lasagna was filling - too huge a serve to eat. My husband's steak was very good. No room for dessert. Children loved it there. The waiters were very good to the kids & very accommodating & attentive to us all.

Approximate cost: $20-30

This used to be my favourite restaurant - huge big serves and very prompt service. Except now it's like they got too big for their boots and everything seems just a tad overpriced - the servings are not as good anymore - and they kick up such a fuss if you want to alter anything on the menu. So dissappointed :(. But great chips and milkshakes.

Love it! Food is consistently good, though some dishes a little on the pricey side. Staff are welcoming and efficient, I always know I'm going to have a good meal here and go often.

i love going to georges for their curry pasta :)
also their salads are great...
staff are quite efficient.. and very friendly
great place to go if you want to catch up with old mates or if you want to have a nice family dinner out...(and its not at SOFIA's HAHA) :D

Approximate cost: $18-25

it's hard for georges as it is a cavernous place that lacks intimacy and clearly is catering for numbers, but it has stiff competition in camberwell and just doesn't have that much to recommend it versus some other places.
i think it keeps pulling people in because there's not much wrong with it and it is so well knowns and unmissable

The atmosphere in there is great, service is not always friendly but very proffesional. There is a wide range of food and it is of high quality plus you can find enough of a range if you're eating on a budget!

Average service, quality meals, but very expensive for what it is. Everything on the menu is $20. The waiter attended to us and we were grateful as it was late and nothing in Camberwell was open and serving dinner, however it's not a value for money kind of place.

Approximate cost: $20

We have been going to Georges for years but it seems that recently they are going through an identity crisis. The menu keeps changing and usually for the worse. I used to love their Tuna Salad which was expensive at $18 but worth it because it was huge and very tasty. They no longer offer this salad and have dramatically reduced the number of items on their menu.

Approximate cost: $20

I have eaten here for lunch and stopped by for coffee. The coffee is excellent, the food is an interesting mix of influences, but the service really lets you down. They either ignore you (and spend too much time chatting and socialising amongst themselves) or they hound you for drinks and orders. It is a big open place, but I am yet to see it full!

Approximate cost: $18
