Terrible experiences so far.
Ebay is better for most things
great for quick on line purchases or quick sales.free advertising.but be careful of some fake profiles and fake purchases,or should i say scammers, always take another person with you especially when meeting up with people through gum tree.
Recently advertised table and chairs on here. Lots of enquires and sold quickly as was moving and didnt fit in new place.
Gumtree.com.au is a awesome directory and classifieds website. They have everything you can think of.
Have just disposed of a number of items that I no longer need. Only charged a token amount and they needed to be picked up too. Nice people who I was pleased to be able to help. Only drawback since ebay have purchased the website is that the fees and charges have increased and only limited time allowed for editing or adding to ad.
ONLY do face to face transaction everyone. I've done a few paypal ones a while back before scammers got on it. I've personally sold a couple things online - mainly to get rid of it and got a couple good bargains too. Much better than ebay who are charging me 10% commission rates.
I have sold so much on Gumtree, and brought a fair bit too. I have never had a problem with buying or selling have always dealt with face to face transactions. I have had people trust me to post their items. Gumtree is for those unwanted or unused items to get rid of cheap. Good to pick up a bargain. Be careful or those fake emails wanting to buy your items.
Have sold some tickets that we were unable to use. Good response and tickets sold. However this site is not as easy to use as previously. There seem to be more charges involved. Cost to edit an ad after a number of hours as an example. Still ok though but make sure all details are correct first time
Glad you could sell items on gumtree, I've never had any luck
A lot cheaper than eBay
Awesome way to sell my textbooks ! So glad I used Gumtree.com.au
Free sign up and easy to use and gave options to pay to advertise my items at premium displays etc
Approximate cost: $free
Have advertised ads to sell books, sporting goods, etc.
Great that it is free with no hidden fees.
ebay has bought the website at some stage so has a bit of how to be safe when selling or buying and other advice.
I get a lot of people who sound interested but disappear or ask if the item is still available yet after I reply I never hear back. About 60% of those who contact me do this.
I know, it is free so it is to be expected. It's just annoying. People let the websites business mode down.
Not everyone is bad though. I have made a quite a few sales. Some really nice people, one couple not so nice but this happens.
Approximate cost: $0
Love gumtree i sell things all the time on here and i pretty much get them sold straight away its also very addictive buying stuff off haha great site highly recomend if u are wanting to sell something but are having troubles doing so
very useful by the sounds of it.
Iv'e sold items on the site and the buyer's I have had ,had been great customer's. The sales were fast and pleasant at my home. You can pickup, delivery, post and freight. The site is pretty simple to use and self explanatory. This is a great trade or swap shop.
Approximate cost: $N/A
I have bought and sold on gumtree, its easy to use and often has some great items listed on here.
I love the swap section, where you can find items people are happy to trade for it comes in handy of you don't have the funds to outright buy something.
I love that you can select the exact area that you want to buy from (your local area, or further away) and that the results have options (ie newest to oldest or dearest to cheapest etc) and are customisable.
A great site that I use alot, especially in my hunt for wedding items!
Approximate cost: $free
thanks for your recommendation.
I have bought some things on Gumtree and I have just started selling a couple of items. The site is easy to understand, quick and simple. It's free to sell. When you search for items you want to buy, you can select the suburb, so you are not clicking on items you like and find out they come from interstate and they are pick up only. Lots of cheap items and also you can put a wanted ad in too, if you are looking for something you cant find. Also they have a free listing, if you need something and you don't have the cash, and you can swap items as well.
Yes totally agree, so easy to use and browse!
if you want to buy, swap or sell this is a great place to go :) you can find many locals doing as above and you can get good bargains on cheap items.
Approximate cost: $Free - $1+
Great and very easy to use site. Great products are posted but you have to be aware that Gumtree is not the seller, the public is. It's free too! Great little invention, great everything.
A great way to find some cheap things.
Large Varity of items and its easy to get in contact with the person that is selling.
Also good to look or offer services to people.
I got on the site often to have a look at what's on there.
Can always find a bargain on here. I have used it to sell items and buy and have usually succeeded in both.
I check it out weekly to see if anyone around me is selling anything I might like.
Was better and cheaper then ebay! It's free to post your add!
Was a little nervous with people coming to my door to collect items I sold but I always kept safe and my partner was always home.
Depending on what you are trying to sell or to buy, this site is generally great.
It comes down to the users and what they are posting, but there are always great deals and most people are prepared to negotiate a bit on the price.
It is free to post something to sell which i LOVE! No fee's, yay! And you can upload unlimited photo's, so I really support this site.
It's easy to use, there is a search bar you jsut type what you want and it shows everything with what you want.
There is even a "freebies" section where people are giving things away and also a "jobs" section which is great for some casual work!
Gumtree offers a great service for both people offering things & people looking for things.
I have used it over the years in both capacities with mixed results. Many good.
You need to be aware of who you are dealing with, ask relevant questions and just have your wits about you in general. Most people are genuine, but being a freebie website in the most part, you can meet some "interesting" people.
Also a great site for job hunting.
I've bought and sold a few things on Gumtree and think it's great. They have heaps of different categories for stuff for sale or trade or even free stuff and jobs. I love the convenience of it and everything's really cheap.
I have bought and sold on Gumtree so much and even sold our house through the real estate section. It is free to use and you get 10 free photos as well.Be careful though about people coming to your house and make it daytime only.
Gumtree IS amazing.
It's important to take precautions when using it, like not paying for things over the phone or internet like you would on Ebay or wherever. It doesn't have buyer protections, it's more like a classifieds news paper of old.
But seriously. The bargains! Great furniture! Clothes! Cheaper rentals than going through an agent! (But make sure you know your rights when signing privately). Cars! Art and antiques!
I'm sure you can think of things to search for that I haven't listed yet. Gumtree is a great place to do it.
Also, it is a good place to find a share house or a house mate, although sharing with strangers is a funny thing...
Approximate cost: $1-10000
Gumtree is a nice place advertise your things as it has a huge followers and its free to advertise
I have used Gumtree a few times to sell some household items with great success. The people I dealt with were courteous and we were both happy with the outcome of using Gumtree. I will absolutely use it again when cleaning out my cupboards!
I really enjoy selling on Gumtree. I have sold a doll's pram, caravan accessories, trees from the garden that are not needed, ornaments etc all at different times. The people who have bought have all been lovely to meet too. This site is a win win for all parties to the transaction. Just be careful of the scam emails but so long as you just give selected info there is no problems at all.
Much better than eBay, no fees to sell stuff and they don't take a cut of the selling price. Put an old pram on online at 10am and sold it by 3pm!!
I cant tell you the number of items I have bought and sold on this site and have never been unsatisfied.
Its a quick and easy process- search the site for what I'm looking for and then contact the seller and arrange a time to view or purchase and likewise with selling its just as easy. So much to choose from and at a fraction of the cost.
This site is brilliant. I've been trying to find a chair more recently and regularly check back to see what's available in my area. Well organised, big range of categories and I've been really happy so far. I haven't tried selling anything through there myself so I'm not sure how that end of things works but for purchases I like the setup
I find this site is great for second hand local buys, always finding great buys.
The outlay of website is good and search bars really help for finding what you want within the area you want!
I have sold a few odd items on gumtree, easy to use and post ads quickly.. with good results. Posting a basic ad is FREE which is amazing!
Tops!
I had never used Gumtree before and couldn't believe how easy it is. Using the app on my iPad I was able to quickly load up all our family's school books to be sold, including photos. Have sold so many in a short space of time yet noticed other people's books advertised on eBay & other websites aren't moving. AND IT'S FREE TO ADVERTISE ON GUMTREE!
Tip: only do face to face selling with cash transactions as there is no PayPal & postage not worth the hassle & risk of not being paid.
Approximate cost: $Zero
dont like gumtree , it's complicated to use
Although I'm still happy with Gumtree service, they've recently changed it to try to force you to pay to reupload your ads. I believe its because Ebay no own it. Seller beware.
