We went up to Halls Gap Zoo a few years ago for the first time. The Zoo has many different animals, from snakes, dingoes, many reptiles. They even come out to your local schools around near them and bring some animals with them and give a talk. The kids are able to interact quite a bit wih the animals. My kids loved it there and it is not over priced either.

Approximate cost: $5

Pretty impressive for a small zoo. The variety of animals on display was pretty cool. Despite the fact the deer that roam around freely kept eating the pram and our clothes etc, the kids seemed to enjoy themselves. The giraffes were a surprise! This really was a highlight of our trip to the area! The tiny monkeys were cool as well - who ever thought they came that small! lol! we used the pram on offer there too which was handy! The playground at the end was a special treat for the kids. And the benches about half way around the zoo was welcome respite for us all!

The first time I was preparing to visit Halls Gap i was amazed to find they had a zoo there. When I arrived I was thrilled to find we could purchase small bags of food to feed several of the animals including deer, wallabys, sheep and goats. My suggestion to anyone visiting is to wear old clothes and to carry water with you and some tissues for wiping your hands ... those deer sure make a mess as they lick the food from your hands and cover you in layers of dust. Messy but such wonderful fun. Make sure also that you keep some of your food for the animals you meet further along the path otherwise you'll be tempted to give it all to the deer who hover at the entrance gate to the zoo.

On my first visit there weren't that many people there so the animals were very eager to eat and it was nice and quiet wandering around. The second visit was a warmer day and more people and my friend and I both found that the animals were less interested in food (probably having already been overfed by many others). There was also a giraffe at the zoo on my second visit, I really hope there are opportunities in the future for feeding the giraffes and that the second giraffe arrives soon. The viewing area for the giraffe is slightly disappointing given how wonderfully displayed the other animals appear however it was still such a precious find to find a giraffe in Halls Gap of all places!

Zoo entrance is expensive but understandable when you consider the costs that must be involved in running such a wonderful place.

Not bad for a small zoo. Spent a couple of hours here with family and had a nice afternoon. Loved the meerkats, really funny to watch. Would recommend buying a bag of feed for the deers - they will love it!! They do have alot more animals then my last visit, including a girraffe. There is a BBQ and undercover area which would be great for a group.

We have been to this facility several times, the last being approx 4 years ago. It was nice then, but great now. The upgrades are many, and there's plenty of work being done to include new animals and new enclosures. Feeding the animals is a real treat for the children. Well done guys, not bad for a private zoo!
