Cools are clean. Showers and bathrooms are spacious and clean. However, as a weak swimmer I've found this pool a bit intimidating. Whenever I stop in my slow lane, other swimmers get annoyed but I'm trying my best.

Great pools. Not over-crowded most times, clean and great location near the city.

Extremely clean pool, not too busy and a great location. This aquatic centre is perfect if you're living in the city, makes you feel away from home. The pools are very clean, unlike a lot of local swimming pools that are usually flooded with children, bandaids and hairs. Overall, a great experience with friendly staff.

Pros: Location, pool, architecture, size.

Cons: Dirty, expensive, incredibly lazy gym staff, complacent centre management,

Overall: I've been a member of this gym for over 3 years, which is managed on behalf of the City of Sydney council by the YMCA, and have watched in dismay as the once excellent centre has been run down by poor management.

Maintenance and cleaning are both extremely poor - coffee spills on the gym floor carpet remain for months, mould in the shower cubicles is never removed, broken locker doors take months to be repaired.

You'll never see the gym staff, who are basically just personal trainers and obviously driven by commission, unless they have decided to have a workout themselves or you've paid for a PT session - they're busy hiding in the office and FaceBooking they're mates and only ever send out the trainees to tide up equipment.

Complaints to current and prior management and the YMCA, go no where.

Basically the people who manage and work at this gave up caring a long, long time ago.

My advice - find a better, cheaper gym that is run like a professional business.

It was one of the best swimming pools I have ever went to. The waters were crystal clear, the facilities were great and the atmosphere was competitive since there was heaps of professional looking people there.

This is an excellent aquatic centre located at Ulitmo. It is state of the art and very modern, being only a few years old. There's a shallow warm swimming pool for beginners and those wanting to relax, a lap pool and a large amusement pool with fountain and sprinklers. My son loved it. Entry is about $6. I love the vibe here. There's a good cafe with reasonably priced food. And a lovely sitting area outside where you can see city views of Darling Harbour / Ultimo. Very highly recommended.

An excellent facility for young and old alike. Imagine three pools, a state of the art gym, friendly, qualified staff. Because it is run by the YMCA, prices are reasonable and it is community focused.

Approximate cost: $2
