Under quote on insurance work. Not interested in doing the repairs. Claim trades hourly rates that are well below minimum wage. Try and sneak extra people in to assessments to find as many reasons they can to refuse your claim.

After a recent Melbourne storm, we experienced significant water to our home. Our insurer assigned JP Flynn Builders and I was extremely impressed with their professionalism, claims coordination and sub contractors. We were assigned a lead builder "Mark" who was proficient in what was required, visited site often and ensured our home was safe and repaired in a timely manner! Cannot recommend JP Flynn Builders highly enough!!

We were thoroughly impressed by the professionalism and efficiency of the team from our very first phone call to the final check-in to ensure our satisfaction. Not only was our project completed on time, but the workmanship was impeccable. The finishing touch by the skilled painter, who clearly takes pride in their craft, was the cherry on top. Thank you for delivering such a positive experience. You would never know we had water damage .

I wanted to call out how good and how professional ‘Medina Projects’ have been with our recent restoration work, due to a water damage claim we suffered at our home.

Once the scope of work was completed via JP Flynn’s, MEDINA PROJECTS were appointed with Kevin becoming my point of contact. Kevin was absolutely brilliant every step of the way. There were plenty of moving parts to negotiate, arranging plumbers, carpenters and painters to work in with each other in a timely manner. We actually saw a number of employees at our home over the course, and all were very courteous and diligent with their work. They have just been a fantastic outfit to deal with - at a time of stress - but I cannot highly recommend them enough.

A big thank you to J P Flynn, especially Mark Young who acted promptly after water damage to our new home. Mark was understanding, compassionate and responsive to our privacy and needs. He bent over backwards to make sure everything was dealt with as quickly and smoothly as possible and he was extremely reassuring. I have no hesitation in recommending J P Flynn.

Carpenter G was great. Very polite and courteous of the fact that I work from home. He went to extra lengths so as not to disturb me while I was working. Greatly appreciated and highly recommend.

jP Flynn we’re allocated to restoring the damage following a fallen river red gum. Ryan and Matt acted professionally. They were easy to deal with and followed through on their word. Matt was very helpful and came back several times to secure the property. Ryan was knowledgeable and helped us through the claim process. Very satisfied.

Most of the preferred trades for Insurance companies are trained by the insurance firms and their prices subject to tender prices submitted that aren't relevant to your property or current pricing.
If you are offered a cash settlement based on a quote from JP Flynn, DO NOT accept it.
I requested answers to over 15 questions in relation to their "desktop' quote with not 1 straight answer returned.
This company also stated they would remove the entire roof at once against the engineers report recommendations not to, just to save on costs but by saving time and money, could jeopardise my entire house structure. The staff member took 15 minutes at the property and did not even look at any of the damage to confirm the findings and requirements.
A make safe was requested in April and took 3 days to attend. The sub contractor did not complete a make safe and JP Flynn did not follow up with even 1 phone call or send another person to inspect.
I would never recommend this company. If I could give a zero, I would.

Please confirm if your company attends training facilitated by the insurance companies?
And please provide reasons as to why my makesafe was not followed up,?

when the insurance company engaged JP Flynn, JP Flynn would not leave us alone to get an appt for the assessment. They secured the work and their service has been poor, had to follow up everything from our end and see when things would start. In terms of customer service very poor and I had no choice on who we could select to do the work from our insurer.

I would like to thank JP Flynn and their team, especially site supervisor Jay for the awesome job they did resurrecting my water logged, tree damaged house. Jay was on top of the works from day one and his team were top notch, they were respectful of my needs and wishes, very professional and communication of progress was never lacking. The house looks amazing and is finished to a very high standard. I have nothing but praise for the company and the job they did. Thank you again to the team for a job well done.

Where to start with this company, so they were appointed by our insurance company to repair fire damage to one room and outside house...

I was unhappy with the quality of work and called the national construction manager who was also my site manager, his response to paraphrase, was it is an insurance job they are done to a lower standard. Shame the policy isn't written like that. At first I blamed the insurance company but that changed.

One example of the areas to fix was the burnt joists and rafters, according to the scope of works the insurance company provided (done by independent builder) the burnt beams were meant to be removed and replaced. JP Flynn just laminated pine to the existing burnt beams. When we approached him about this he explained the scope of works is just an estimate and isn't set in stone and the quote they did and structural plans were based on not replacing it...

So I contacted the insurance company, they assured me he did quote to replace them and was doing something cheaper and hadn't even passed the saving back to them. I then found the original customer agreement and lo and behold everything burnt was meant to be removed and replaced... They told me they had instructed him to do what he quoted (remove and replace 4 rafters) second time around he didn't, he cut burnt sections out of 2 of them (the worse ones) and reinforced.. sigh...

It goes on and on, I could write a book on the corners cut and things in the scope of works and customer agreement I and JP FLynn signed that he found 'cheaper' ways to avoid doing, like stripping back bubbling paint on asbestos eaves and repainting them that in the customer agreement he was meant to replace (this he did do the second time around after my complaint) but you get the drift.

If an insurance company every tried to use this builder I would ask for an alternate.

Great company to deal with. The contractors used were very professional and repairs were carried out to a very high standard.

Contractors that this company uses are fantastic, they were respectful, courteous and felt very comfortable with them in my home and they arrived at the time they said!, The quality of the job they did was amazing. they left the house clean no issues at all.

Very good company to deal with. All their tradesmen arrived on time and were friendly, efficient and tidy in their work. JP Flynn kept us informed on progress of work and dealings with insurance company.

JP Flynn were engaged to repair damage caused by hail. The whole experience was seamless, professional and respectful of our needs from beginning to end. The ongoing 'check in' by Chris the Repair Coordinator kept us informed as to progress and indeed in the final stages resolved an issue with the insurer that was outside his remit. The experienced tradesmen worked to a high standard and didn't cut corners. It would be great if other organisations adopted the same high level customer service ethic of JP Flynn - Thanks.

Great job from start to finish ... very experienced tradesmen ...J P Flynn builders accommodated my needs to have the job completed during my A/L period

We’ve had a building report done from JP Flynn, I can honestly say a 5 year old could’ve put this together and in less time. It took them over 5 weeks to produce it, on top of that there was not allowance for safe access to conduct the repairs. Our roof is 5 meters high and it makes no mention in the report. Perhaps they were going to ask Aladin for his flying carpet

Had to call daily to chase them up constantly and always told the ops centre is busy, lied to multiple time regarding when the report would be sent

There was multiple photos taken at the time of the inspection yet these didn’t even make it onto the report,

One of the items just said ‘Wall Streaky’ what is that supposed to mean?

I have nothing but praise for this company and their employees, from trades to people who work in the office, especially Rebecca. My home was damaged during the massive hail storm in January and being a single, elderly lady, I was stressed out of my mind. J P Flynn contacted me immediately after RACV gave the go ahead for the job. A trades person came to assess the damage and the following day a drone took photos of the 3 different roofs. An extensive report was produced detailing the storm and other issues with the roofs. There were issues that I had to address, so I contacted Rebecca for help and she kindly sent me the names of plumbing contractors. I was kept informed on what was happening with the insurance repairs and the standard of care and attention was the best I've ever experienced. Thank you RACV for choosing this company and a big thank you to J P Flynn and their exceptional employees.

I have just had Tom from TLC tree services and his team attend at my property and my neighbours. We found Tom to be very easy to deal with. From the first communication he was polite and professional and kept myself informed as to the procedures that would be followed in relation to "the make safe"
Upon meeting Tom he then inspected both sites and provided some very informative insight into the condition of the tree, its structural integrity and the impacted area.
At the completion of the job both properties were left in extremely tidy states. Both my neighbour and I felt that the boys provided us excellent service and were respectful of the surrounding gardens, which was also appreciated.

Extremely professional and aim to complete every job to the highest quality. Highly recommend for any services provided.

Yarra Valley water really didn’t care about the damage it was causing, so to hear calm and caring words and to move forward positively was really appreciated. The job turned out to be bigger than expected and at a busy time of year the job blew out, however even until the last day of the working year Jaron was in contact. With Jaron’s departure and busy January ahead I was concerned that things would drop off, however Tom has taken on the role of managing the job. I am so grateful for his kind calm manner and his determination to work quickly with attention to detail. Each time I have questioned a fault he has resolved it. Worst Builders ever, 12 months later still waiting for work to be done, ,we have large cracks on the walls and cabinetry in kitchen 6minths after installed is dropping and coming apart from the wall, I am so stressed dealing with this mob. I totally agree with the past reviews, its all true and more.

Utterly appalling. On the phone with QBE insurance now to complain YET AGAIN. Property damaged OCTOBER 2016 and STILL NOTHING DONE!! The case manager was so rude. 9 months waiting now - can I put in a claim for a mental break down because of all the stress caused?? They don't even deserve 1 star.

THE MOST INCOMPETENT BUILDERS I have known.
I submitted my insurance claim on 8/10/2016, and the claim was passed to them on the same day for "make-safe" work. Despite promised, the work wasn't done on the day.
I had to call numerous times on the next day (at least 7 times to the Insurance company, JP Flynn and the person assigned to the work) before someone turned up at 9pm to make-safe the roof. Among which I was told a worker has been assigned, when I insisted to get the contact number of the person, he was clueless what I was talking about, and asked me to call JP Flynn and the Insurance company back to call and assign him the work.

The agony on restoration works continued from there on. Only on my repeated persistence call to them every other days to do the work and REWORK which finally resulted on resolution on 27/01/2017.
This is a total of ALMOST 4 MONTHS to resolve the work that could have been done in 1/2 a day.

Everytime I called to find out what happened with my restoration work, Everyone is clueless on what happened and what need to happen. I was promised that someone would call me back to provide updates, and no one called me. I instead everytime need to initiate calling their company.

Almost in every call, I had to reiterate the case and works needed to be done. I had to deal with (read: battle my way through) all levels of organisation, from admin staff to senior case managers. The case managers, on top of clueless of the situation (providing unrelated excuses) they are nothing but lips service. Making the case sounded more complicated then it should be, e.g. need to build a safety scaffolding, need to make sure the electricity connection is available and save.. blah..blah..blah...according to the industrial regulation. Hence, it would take 4 weeks to complete the work. NONE OF THESE were done when the actual work performed... the work literally took 2-3 hours and was done with a normal ladder.

The first time they turned up, the work was done:
1. WITH VERY LOW QUALITY -
2. NO ATTENTION To DETAILS
3. NOT IN ACCORDANCE TO AGREED SCOPE OF WORK (which I have fought for almost 3 months, and agreed by them and the Insurance company).

The agony continued for me to fight my way to get them done the REWORK.

During that period, due to delayed restoration (which included patching of gaps on the roof), our roof was infested by possums. Created more problems and inconvenience for us.

AVOID THIS BUILDER LIKE A PLAGUE.
I have to sacrifice my personal and professional working time (not to mention the stress I had to endure) just to deal with this incompetent builder.
