A number of years ago we bought a futon each and we were very happy with them. We then bought new mattresses full of man made materials and got the heat build up in them and general discomfort. Big mistake. Bought 2 more Japanache Futons to replace them, much better.

I purchased an almost double futon, tatami for the futon, goza, and two za isu. I'm very happy with the quality of the products, their appearance, and the delivery time. Richard was professional yet down to earth, which is why I'm writing this review, out of respect for him and his products, otherwise I don't usually bother.

Really great service. Very fast delivery. Beautiful product. The mattress required another layer underneath it to accommodate us, but now is the most comfortable bed we've ever had. Highly recommend it.

If you are a lover of Japanese objects, I think your first stop should be Japanache. We have a kotatsu and two futons and they are fantastic. Richard supplied us tatami mats for a little tea house we are building in the backyard and we acquired a beautiful Edo-era cabinet from him which is being restored. From ordering goods to delivery you can't go wrong with Japanache.

I am very happy with my single futon which is authentic, comfortable and lightweight. Previously purchased a Zentai Living futon which was just the opposite in every respect! Highly recommend Japanache for excellent service and excellent quality.

Bought a Kotatsu from Japanache and I am absolutely loving it with the colder weather. It arrived faster than advertised. It was well packed and easy to assemble. Can not fault the service from Japanche. I recommend them highly.

Only positive words for Japanache and the shikibuton. Great service, fast shipping, excellent communication, fantastic product. What more can I say. If you’re checking out these reviews, you know this is not your normal mattress but it’s used on tatami mats or floor and thus gives a very firm surface. I prefer sleeping off the floor and being able to clean under my bed so our mattress is on the slats of the bed with a woollen duvet underneath it. Although I didn’t have real issues, I noticed my neck, shoulders and back feel better rested now that I’ve changed from a firm mattress to the shikibuton. I sleep on my side and back.
My husband prefers a more cushier bed so we’ll trial a thin, 5cm mattress topper but I’m happy with just the duvet.
For anyone considering purchasing a shikibuton, I definitely recommend Japanache.
