Great service and great venue. Food is fresh and a variety of dishes on offer. I have ordered pasta and grilled salmon. Both well cooked and simply served. Great wine and beverage choices. Is a bit pricey however if you are after a nice quiet dinner with a small group of people or perhaps a dinner date then the perfect local venue.

I have eaten here twice. The first time was for lunch and the food was very good but the service slow although it was very busy. The second time was for dinner and the service was a lot quicker although it was still busy. Both times I've had the gnocchi which was delicious and came in a creamy sauce. Good value and taste overall

We sat outside and the service came out to us. I ordered the special of the day after Amber described the swordfish. I have never tasted this fish. The Kent Hotel change their menu often and lucky for me this was the last day for swordfish on a bed of uniquely presented vegetables. Thankfully I explained my allergies because I noticed a slight change in my order. One of the waiters came to explain the change to my dish and WOW delicious. This dish was not the usual fish and veg. The flavours were subtle and I couldn't share the plate with my husband. He ordered fettucine marinara and oh my God this had fresh seafood! The absolutely the best tasting I have ever tasted - it could have had a secret ingredient but I couldn't work it out. Was it the olive oil or herb?

I had never been to the Kent Hotel until a friend suggested we go there for dinner one evening.

I was very impressed with its modern decor and a good variety of meals on menu.

However one time both mine and my friend's steak was a little burnt (sure we said well done but we did not want to see charcoal on our meat). We discreetly told the waiter and he immediately arranged for fresh steaks to be cooked for us.

We were happy with nice gesture of the staff!

I have been back at a few times and happy with the service

My sister booked the upstairs room for her 40th birthday celebration. I was impressed at how great the service staff were - always refilling the water jugs on various tables, bringing new glasses, emptying the little buckets they have for "rubbish"... plus they were very friendly and helpful. They were also helpful in deciding what to order (set menu/choice of fingerfoods), and I'm glad they told us that we didn't need to order much more, as we were all very very full afterwards.
Great also that we had a "private" entrance to go upstairs, plus our own toilets.
And they provided a mic for the speeches, and there's no fee for booking the venue.

This is one of the best places in Melbourne for a crumbed veal schnitzel,,,,,,not to mention all the other amazing plates! This place is not to be compared to any rank hotel serving ordinary pub grub. It is more in the fine dining class but with a pub scene!

Approximate cost: $25
