This is a great place to get your pets vaccinated. All the money goes back to helping the stray animals in the shelter. It's not like some other vets where they charge premiums for their services. The staff and Vets are friendly and knowledgeable.

I adopted two beautiful dogs from this shelter who are an absolute joy. I dealt with several staff at the shelter as I was there a couple of times to see the dogs and then pick them up - the staff were helpful at all times although they are very busy dealing with enquirers.

The shelters website is updated regularly with excellent information on animals available for adoption. Dogs are temperament tested and a discount training course is available for dogs adopted via the shelter.

I got my cat from this shelter. I'm so glad I chose to get her from here. She is a fantastic cat, and the staff I found to be very helpful. After a week, my cat was vomiting, I took her back to the shelter for a check up, they kept her in for a few days, and made sure she was OK. I wasnt charged for this. Because I got a 'mature' cat, over 4yrs, she was cheaper, which I think is an excellent idea, rather than encouraging people to take in the younger cats.

I would definitely go back here to get another pet, and have considered volunteering in my spare time too

I was horrified at the treatment my Mum recieved whilst trying to help a sick animal. My Grandma had had a stray cat hanging around her retirement village. It was very sick and looked close to death. My mum being the good samiritan she is, took pity on this stray cat (she doesn't even like cats much) and rang the council who told her they wouldn't come and pick it up unless it was in a crate. She borrowed one and ended up taking to the Keysborough animal shelter herself. They were extremely rude to her and had a go at her for not getting treatment for this stray cat. My mum was very upset at this and I'm sure she'll think twice before she helps another sick animal.

I understand how upset your mum would have felt, and I have also heard that the staff at the shelter can be very rude to people, I guess that they have become so jaded with the general publics abuse and neglect of animals and that they have seen it so often that their attitudes change. Im not defending their attitude as I think they have no right to treat the public rudely although I can understand how heartbreaking and stressful their jobs must be.

I'm disappointed in this review, as i've been to this shelter before and 99% of the staff i know there a friendly & helpful &well manner. The do their best to help animals and unlike most shelter these guy don't euthanise after 36days!
