I believe that the comments that I have posted/are about to post regarding my experience/experiences with Kitchen Depot, Mile End, South Australia, are fair, reasonable, and, accurate.

This information contained herein will also explain, in part, why I asked for a refund of my money paid, plus the interest component. However, as at writing this, no Kitchen Depot representative has agreed to provide me with the interest component of my money.

As at writing this, Kitchen Depot has on its site words which include, "...enjoyable and hassle free way...", "...We care for our customers before, during and after the sale", and, "...We display honesty, integrity and compassion in all we do", and, "Kitchen Depot is committed to providing continued customer satisfaction." accessed online 19th December, 2010.

Firstly, I would like to thank Jenni Godleman for her great service and expertise. I have been advised that she has now left Kitchen Depot, Mile End.

Initially, my agreement with Kitchen Depot, Mile End included a request for a certain coloured bench top, that was being discontinued. Without prior knowledge, or, agreement with me, this specific product, that was supposedly put away for me, was sold to another customer. Therefore, I needed to select a different coloured bench top. Hence, more time at Kitchen Depot, Mile End, South Australia.

Arranging final payment of the contract between Kitchen Depot, and myself, I advised a (then) Kitchen Depot representative who took my final payment, that I had already paid some further money towards my kitchen and 2 wardrobe replacements. However, the said representative disputed this with me. Consequently, whilst making my final payment, I paid an additional $1,000.

Whilst holidaying, I received a telephone call asking that I return to Kitchen Depot, Mile End as the disputed amount of $1,000 was to be returned to me. This meant an additional trip to Kitchen Depot, Mile End, South Australia.

However, last month, when I called Kitchen Depot, Mile End, South Australia, and made the request of an installer attending my home for the measuring, and, giving this business a fortnight for the installer to attend. I also advised that there was additional work that needed to be done before the installer could complete his/her work, and, that I was hoping that the installer would advise what work needed to be carried out before the kitchen could be installed.

Furthermore, I advised the person with whom I spoke with at the abovementioned time, that I was going to be elsewhere, and will not be at the premises whilst the work was being completed. I scheduled a time for the kitchen portion of the contact only to be installed part-way through January, 2011. In fact, I received a return telephone call from a Kitchen Depot representative after my paperwork was located, during which time, I again went through what I needed to have done, when, and, why.

However, the following happened:

1. I was not sent the installer within the requested timeframe.
2. I was sent an additional contract (with someone else's name on it), which, I believe, including a request for payment of over $13,000. This was received by me two days' prior to the fortnight that I had allocated for the installer to attend, and, on a Friday.
3. I called Kitchen Depot on the next day (too late to call on the Friday), and, when the telephone was answered, asked to speak to, “Jenni,” Unfortunately, the person who needed to schedule in the installer would not be available until the following Monday.
My husband was taking a week off work commencing from that Monday. This caused my household great inconvenience. As per Kitchen Depot's website, “...hassle free...”
4 I sent an e-mail advising of how the failure to have the installer attend when requested impacted my household. I further requested compensation as, by the time that I was made aware of this, I had already booked flights and accommodation, expecting that I would have the, “...hassle free...” service, as per Kitchen Depot's website.
5 As at writing this, no offer of compensation has been given by any Kitchen Depot representative. However, the person who sent me the contract did respond via e-mail, which included an acknowledgement that the kitchen had been paid. This representative also advised me that contact will be made with the person who will be sending out the installer the following Monday - after my requested timeframe. Also with the e-mail, was advice that a receipt would be sent out to me that Saturday. However, the envelope was postmarked on the following Tuesday.
6. Additionally, the said receipt was not a copy of the original. The receipt that I received, with the envelope postmarked, “7 DEC 2010,” was transferred from the original receipt to another receipt.
7 Furthermore, despite a Kitchen Depot having already called me on my home telephone number, I was advised that I do not have an answering service. I have one; however, I have not left a message inviting callers to do same.
8 I put a series of questions to the person from Kitchen Depot who had sent me the contract for my kitchen in December, 2010. As at writing this, I have not received a response from this person. Additionally, as at writing this, this Kitchen Depot representative has not called me, on either my home number, or, contactable mobile number to apologise for what has happened.

Consequently, upon a decision to sever all ties that I had with Kitchen Depot, I e-mailed the person from Kitchen Depot, Mile End, South Australia, who sent me the contract in December, 2010 and advised of my request, which included my refund, plus interest. I also requested that this person provides me with certain information by no later than midnight on 17th December, 2010. As at writing this, I have not received the requested information from this representative. Also, this representative wants me to wait up to four times longer than I requested receive my refund.

I shall look elsewhere for my kitchen and wardrobes. That stated, as I mentioned previously, as at writing this, no Kitchen Depot representative has agreed to refund me the interest on my prior payment to this company, nor, has any Kitchen Depot representative agreed to pay for the travel arrangements that my husband and I are now booked to take, expecting that we would return home to a new kitchen.

As I mentioned previously, this is, in part, what happened to me with my dealings with Kitchen Depot, Mile End, South Australia. I believe that my comments contained within this statement are fair, reasonable, and, accurate.

*Please note: The, "Approx Cost," is for the kitchen alone. The actual cost of the contract for the kitchen was above the mentioned, "Approx Cost."

Approximate cost: $13000
