This is by far the best Koko Black store I have been to. It is such good value considering the quality of food that is served. My favourite thing on the menu is the Raspberry Molleux. The staff are attentive and willing to serve and there is next to no wait time for food to be served. This place is definitely worth a visit when you are next on Lygon St.
Approximate cost: $12
WOW! A sure way to pile on winter warming kilos for sure! This place is da bomb and really is worth a visit! Their belgian spoil for two is worth the $20 something dollars as you definitely get your chocolate fix! The individual chocolates are so good you don't think twice about spending $2 per choc! I without fail get a koko black hot chocolate with cinnamon or hazelnut! Its like drinking a dream! Time to pay them a visit i think...
if you are a chocolate lover, this is the place to be. but for me, i find that their hot chocolate is just average. maybe next time should try their selection of chocolates
i agree, they're great but given the pricing i would have expected a bit more now that i think about it...
I absolutely love Koko Black in Carlton. The best thing for me is the chocolate milkshakes there - the iced one is the best. The little chocolates are really nice as well.
Approximate cost: $10
had a quick visit here with some friends a couple of weeks ago, i found it quite pricey (especially after dinner we thought we'd spend 15 dollars tops for a coffee and cake) but oh man the service was exceptional! loved the staff! great ambience inside and out too :D
Approximate cost: $20
Yes pricey i just go there for an individual piece of chocolate with my latte. Definitely good service staff are very polite and attentive
It has a good name, the quality of coco is ok. We went here for a birthday and i was reluctant to go as i've been here before. The chocolate is grossly rich and if you have a little too much your going to be very sick. I suggest to only purchase one or two pieces in the showcase. Don't go in and get anything from the menu, its exagerated, costly and you walk out feeling grossed out, get home and spend most the night on the toilet and be dissapointed you payed $50 to get sick. Just get something small. Spend $5 and thats plenty.
Approximate cost: $35
great tip!
great tip!
i agree some of the desserts can be too much
this is a great little place to call into after having dinner in Lygon Street. Its set right in the middle of the restaurant area so you can still soak up the atmosphere. Their hot chocolate is to die for. If I have to say anything negative it is that it can be a little expensive if you've got the family with you.
Coming to Melbourne soon will have to ckeck it out
absolute divine handmade chocolates! beautiful gift ideas of boxed chocolates
the cafe also serves beautifully prepared chocolate based desserts .. they are not cheap but its something to truly enjoy something special every now and again.
prices are slightly higher, but worth it as its top quality!
This is a great little place to go after a good dinner. They have an upstairs lounge type area with table service where you can choose from a selection of desserts - obviously most are chocolate based. The menu is seasonal so changes. The dessert was a bit expensive but I got the plate of selected bites and took home the ones I couldn't eat. A fantastic deal in the end.
Approximate cost: $10 - 16.00
Yes have to agreer with you.
LOVE THIS PLACE! the Chocolate Moose is the best in Melbourne, good coffee too, the individual chocolates are a must have to take away afterwards. Child's choice: the selection of chocolate mini muffin, chocolate icecream and chocolate teddybear all on a small platter, YUM. Small area downstairs, but there is a big area upstairs, classy, a favorite for anything chocolate, great for dropping in after events in the city. Staff are nice, and really know chocolate, atmosphere is refined, but child friendly.
Approximate cost: $WHO CARES!
Yes totally agree with you.
such a warm inviting feel about the store compared to the others stores
whoa!best ever hot choc ever!it was intense, deep, dark and mysteriously good!tried the ice choc w ice cream. absolutely perfect! not too sweet...u can just taste the richness of the choc.
Approximate cost: $10
The real problem with this cafe is that once you go in you want to try everything! The chocolates seem expensive but once you taste them you know it's worth it. A friend and I shared a sample plate and couldn't finish it. The chocolate is divine.
Must have gone here on a bad day because we didn't get the experience we were hoping for. While the chocolate mousse and ice-cream martini's were delicious, we were a bit let down by the slow service and the time it took to get someone to give us a table, despite there being heaps of empty ones. We would have sat down, but a sign said to wait to be seated.
The price was pretty steep for the chocolate mousse, as it was pretty tiny compared to the pictures you see on the webpage. Ice-cream martini was fine though.
The place was a bit dirty and staff seemed a bit preoccupied. But like I said, it wasn't what I'd heard about it, so this must have just been a bad day or something.
I will try this one again and see if I can make some changes to this review.
Approximate cost: $8.95+
Love all the Koko Black shops. This is our local one and a good place to meet friends. I wish they had some less expensive chocolate options on the deserts menu.
Great location along Lygon St, Carlton. I love the counter filled with mouth-watering chocolate delicacies, they're hard to pass up when you're paying the bill. The hot chocolate is great also.
Approximate cost: $5
I'm a regular at KoKo Black, great to see there are more stores opening up.
I can't decide which I love more the Chilli Hot Chocolate or the Iced Chocolate.
Quite rich, I find it hard to finish a dessert and a hot chocolate but ideal if you're really after a good quality chocolate fix.
Needless to say, this fantastic ChocChoc place is just a place you can hang around in for one full day! I must admit some of the items are slightly pricy. But hey, there isn't much of this concept around town back in the 90s! Service staff was excellent, young and friendly.
Approximate cost: $10
This is the best hot chocolate and mocha I have ever had. Superbly rich and indulgent. I am not so keen on their iced drinks though. Lovely place to take visitors for dessert.
Approximate cost: $5.5 cup
Every Chocoholics dream! You can sit either inside or outside and order as much chocolate as your heart desires. You can even buy a box and choose each chocolate to take home with you. Great for a special occassion treat.
If you love chocolate in any and all shapes and forms this is the place for you, great place for a chat as it's quite and relaxed, with very friendly promt service. We enjoyed hot chocolates and chocolate moose, and bought some hot chocolate flakes for some home time indulgence. Costly for chocolate but definatly worth the money if you love great tasting chocolate and lets face it who doesn't.
Approximate cost: $12
I would have to agree with Chocolitte Melbourne in Saying that it's the BEST chocolate in Melbourne. They have so many different flavours and the taste is absolutely mind blowing! Little pieces of heaven!
Chocoholics paradise. Right in the heart of Carlton North, it has a very European feel. Get the staff to recommend something to you. Then go for a long walk to get rid of all those calories. You can get there on the 96 tram! A good place to take visitors to Melbourne.
It's a must for chocolate lovers. I might say it's the best chocolate in Melbourne...
Though you might have to wait to get a table on the weekends, still a good place to hang out too....
For me, it was so incredible when I know that a place like this does exist in town, close to home....
Friendly service, great chocolate drink, hot or cold, what more can I say!!! Typical hot chocolate drink cost around $5 and the cold one $6. Sometimes, it can be quite difficult to get a table, especially during weekend night. My tip: Just be patience, it worth it!!
Chocolate lovers- this place is divine! The most amazing hot chocolate and chocolate mousse ever. Hot chocolates made with real chocolate are the bomb- i love them. So rich, so smooth, so delicious. Dieters- avoid this place, not for the gym junkie, veer away from asap. For those who know we only live once and enjoy the occasional treat- do visit.
Approximate cost: $5.75 per hot chocolate
This outlet of Koko Black doesn't have the same charisma as the Royal Arcade store, nor do you get to ogle the chocolatier in the window, but hey, for a quality chocolate hit, you can't go past these guys. We stopped by for hot chocolates one cold afternoon this Winter, and were seduced by the selection of chocolates to bring home. The service was warm, and the staff were helpful as we made our selections.
koko black is incredible!!! best chocolate shop in melbourne ... it is a little pricy but it is very much worth it ... what makes the experience very unique is the excellent service you get from the friendly staff .. I vote THE BEST PLACE IN MELBOURNE
Approximate cost: $10
Amazing chocolate However the only problem with service when the salon is too busy...the variety is great and would match the different tastes and preferences...Koko Black particularly has the best hot chocolate ever..I strongly recommend it
If I could find a way to get here every single day I would! This would have to be the most amazing chocolate restaurant that I've ever been to. The chocolate is awesome, whether hot, cold or solid! It is all amazing, and has a great home made taste without being sickly sweet. Mmmm, mmm, mmm.
Approximate cost: $15.00
The chocolate is good, very good really however the service is hopeless. I have been there a couple of times and trying to get someone to take your order is a bit tricky. If you are need of chocolate and have time on your hands it is not a bad places.
