I signed the contract with lazaway in February 2015. That was my first mistake. Two years later, the pool is still not complete and i have paid 95% of the contract. They delayed the interior of the pool for over an year blaming on weather . I was promised the pool will be finally completed 1st week of January 2017 and now they have closed shop . I am out of pocket by over $12,000 to get the remaining work completed . The Domestic Building insurance wouldn't process my claim as Lazaway has not officially filed for bankruptcy with ASIC . These [redacted] should be sued for insolvent trading and taken to task . [redacted names/inflammatory generalisations]

Let's all stick together we have all been treated so unfairly. I was promised the pool to be completed before Christmas by [Redacted name] ( I could call him more than [Redacted name] even before this he blocked my number after we signed the document????) as my mother had terminal cancer and it was a surprise for her sadly my mum passed away on the 7th November during that week they started hit rock and charged me $16k I was devastated ...understatement!!!!!!!! From there on in nothing but excuses and bullying from [Redacted name]. This is not right how can we be treated this way????

Approximate cost: $6

Lazaway will not return our calls and it's 2 months past contract completion date. We have no idea when our pool will be finished.
We have reported them to the Department of Justice and Regulation, due to breach of contract.
Lazaway has been taken to court by other clients and ordered to pay other pool companies to finish the job.

That's good to hear AngryMum just be careful who you employ to finish your pool there are a lot of cowboys out there I know that for a fact

AngryMum 14 Jan 2017

we are just going to hold off and wait now! Don't need the stress!

Continuing previous post. The fact that this was tabled in 1994 and states that measures should have been put in place to prevent Craig Wright from ever being the director of a company again is breathtaking.

I highly recommend you liaise with Senior Management, not the sales staff, before
making a decision as to proceed with Lazaway. Ask for milestone payments,
variation costings and expectations in writing, and a written guarantee
that they will complete the job. Only after then, if there is no
personality clash, or trust issues resolved, should you even consider
signing with Lazaway.

[redacted link]They
provide cheap quotes to get quick sales deals, but then costs escalate
through unexpected and unanticipated over priced variation orders. Some of
the work quoted is double the price quoted by other pool companies. After
each stage of the work has then been unprofessionally completed, they will
then make threats and demanded immediate payment regardless of whether the
work they have performed has been checked.

Hence, the cheap initial price Lazaway quotes, will be more expensive than
other pool quotations..

Lazaway are frequent flyers at VOCAT, no doubt Platinum members.... Do
yourself a favor and google "Lazaway Pools complaints".

Valid point Angry-mum, and good read.
I'm assuming jadey is related, she might be right we don't all have the facts. But when a dm resignes and closes the door, customers and trade and manafactures start talking, everyone comparing notes and everyone comes to the same conclusion, we all got screwed by the same two ppl.
If there is a different side of the story I would love to hear it.

AngryMum 13 Jan 2017

Also Jadey, if going to the media for them to 'hunt him down' makes him come forward and 'explain himself' then it was worth every second! They have all gone into hiding and obviously have no intention of giving any explanation for what they have done to so many people. If they have a valid reason for all the missing money and a valid reason for the bullying, slander and disrespect the company representatives showed its clients, then I would love to hear it! But somehow I don't think that will happen!

brianw812 28 Jan 2017

Jadey - they owe more than 2.5 million to creditors let alone all the cash owed to customers with unfinished pools. I used to subcontract for them and experienced first hand the lies and deceit. Stuff like sending contractors to the wrong job and then charging the customer for their stuff up. They never paid any of their trades on time or the full amount - always told to keep working without pay to keep the cash flowing in. Always treated as if they were doing me a huge favour for simply paying me for work completed months prior. The whole business was a pyramid scheme built on ripping off tradesmen. Getting contractors to do as much work as possible until they realise they are never going to get paid - then when they leave they find the next tradesmen to rip off. I was talking to a plumber last week who worked for them 20 years ago and he had the same experience. Eventually it caught up with them as they couldn't get any tradesmen to do the work and the pyramid collapsed. Understand that there's people with mortgages and kids to provide for that have lost $20,000 - $100,00. These aren't big companies either that can absorb that kind of a loss - it's self-employed tradesmen. Lazaway knew exactly what was going to happen - hope they get done for trading while insolvent. The DM deserves jail time.

FIRSTLY - DON'T BE FOOLED BY ANY POSITIVE REVIEWS AS THEY ARE WRITTEN BY LAZAWAY STAFF.
I made the fatal mistake of asking Lazaway to construct my inground pool and all of the landscaping on my property. I thought that this would be beneficial to co-ordinating the project. What a mistake. I was constantly on the phone telling their supervisor what needed to be done. They did not apply for the relevant building permits for a fence that they constructed regardless of the fact that I repeatedly asked if they were building to code. I was assured that they were. They were not. Building came to a screeching halt whilst council, estate developers and finally the Building Commission became involved. Eventually, after many months, the fence was demolished. The pool also came to a screaming halt for over a year. Other gates and fences were constructed and needed to be replaced as the workmanship was dreadful. It took months and months for anything to be done to fix the problem and when they finally did fix SOME of the items they damaged my house, adjoining concrete and garden area. I am still struggling to get them to come back and fix the absolute mess they have made of my entire property. They have all the excuses under the sun to explain the delays but after 15 months no excuse is good enough. LAZAWAY have only one priority and that is making money. It is all about their bottom line. They are truly a disgusting company to deal with and there are some real horror stories out there. Do yourself a favour and read some of them and then avoid LAZAWAY all together. Also be wary of the product they line their pools with. Its what makes their pools so cheap but its high, high maintenance and if you don't look after it A LOT it can deteriorate. You can spend twice as much in chemicals and time than you would with a fibreglass or fully tiled pool. BEWARE of all the hidden costs when you sign their contract. You will most likely be charged extra for excavation, soil removal, formwork, rock excavation and numerous other costs. If you don't pay up they refuse to continue work. I was charged additional excavation time costs even though the contractor was leveling out the yards of two of my neighbours. LAZAWAY couldn't have cared less what I had to say about the variation they raised - their motto is pay and shut up or we will stop work until you do. They are also shameful (to the point of it being embarrassing) when it comes to demanding payment. They were on the phone demanding payment for the shell of my pool whilst the contractors were still pouring the concrete !

STAY AWAY FROM LAZAWAY !!

John and Sam, we have a concrete shell that just needs its quartz render done. We have all our filters and pumps connected, solar done, fence done, waterline tiles done but couldn't get them
Back to do the render. My hubby is a builder and did a bit himself and is also doing own coping tiles so we only need render done! 1 days work and that's what angered us! They haven't been on site since July! It started end of March.
I have contacted A current Affair previously and I just sent them another message linking in with Channel 7 News report last night! Hopefully they will get on to it and hunt them down!

You are horrible people . This is someones life and you are violating their privacy let alone the human decency to explain themselves. You should be ashamed of yourself for going to the media and for speaking behind people backs and being so rude, so that you can reach some tiny bit of achievement because your too much of a pig head to realise that your messing with peoples lives.

Everyone should also be ashamed for the disgusting behaviour that you have shown. Be Adults and stop acting like children. While it might be a business, people actually run it, and its those people you are hurting, without having all the true facts. Don't believe everything you see on the news or in social media.

I hope that this comes back to bite you in the bum, and that Karma sees who the bad guy is and turns around and faces you and all the shit and fucked up things you have said, accused, and portrayed come back to show you how much of an imbosil you all are.

You should be ashamed, and I hope you mind your own business next time until you know all thats going on.

samm340 12 Jan 2017

Jadey you are obviously know all that's going on, why don't you enlighten us, tell us rather than making bold hollow statements

09 Dec 2012

We just had our pool completed with Lazaway pools. So just thought I'd share my thoughts, and make aware how these guys operate!! Firstly, out if the four quotes we obtained for the identical concrete pool, Lazaway were 18K cheaper than the next nearest quote. I had heard nothing good about this company, however we took a gamble to go with them as we were able to get the pool we wanted. Overall, we could not be happier with the finished product, had our first swim and we love it. However, I feel we were lucky!!! From excavation to concreting, was completed in 5 days!! Amazing!!! However, there was minimal quality control, and I hoped that without any supervision, each trade did the right thing!!! Then they wanted to complete the pool!!! However, before they can, we had complete our pool fence, which required us concreting around the pool as we had a frameless pool fence. That's when Mr. Contract man got on the blower telling me I'm in breach of the contract etc etc, fine print states in contract that we can't concrete around pool for two weeks after handover. This was not possible with our landscaping plans, so after a [redacted due to offensive language] fight, we had to sign a disclaimer agreeing we are in breech of contract, Lazaway have no liability for any broken pipes, and no liability for any damage to our concrete or pool fence, and we are in breech of our 8 week completion time. I had no choice, I signed it, and continued with our landscaping. As soon as I mailed this, I got hit with a variation for the excavation cost, which I know our land is difficult. Addition cost was approx $500.00 i knew of a builders margin of 25% on all variation, however they tried to apply the builders margin on the whole excavation allowance!!! I'm a registered domestic builder, and and this is not allowed!! After legal advice, I refused to pay what they were seeking, and again with Mr. Contract man at lazaway we had a [redacted due to offensive language] fight on our hands. Weeks past with no contact or no work until I paid, in the meantime I was preparing to take this further. Finally, Mr. Contract man decided to waive the costs they were seeking, and continued with our pool. Solar, Tiling, coping, cleaning, Quartzon and handover again went smoothly, with no supervision and no quality control. Luckily!!
So overall, our pool turned out just as we wanted, and all the trades did a fantastic job!!! Potential customers must realize this is a big company with a high turnover of pools. All the trades work to the contract specifications and the design signed off on the contract. I found there is no point if contact, and the only contact you get is a text message a day before a trade is coming. I'm lucky there were no problems with our pool at any stage, as these would've definately snowballed without any supervision and any quality control. So that's our experience with Lazaway, oh and one more thing, have your progress payments ready, as they ruthlessly want their progress payment as that stage is getting completed. I stood my ground and inspected the work when I got home then transferred the money!!!

Wow what an essay. Yet you rated them quite high.

In designing our new home, we decided to incorporate a swimming pool. We met with many pool companies and felt that the professionalism, patience and ability to resolve complex planning issues was by and large what stood out the most with Lazaway Pools. Of all the cotractors that we have employed for our project to date, Lazaway have by far been the best. Their staff demonstrate excellent industry knowledge and they have provided competent and courteous tradespeople at every stage. We are so pleased with our decision to contract them and would highly recommend Lazaway to family and friends.

simonk5 11 Jan 2013

Another pathetic attempt by Lazaway to improve their image. I expect this review will be removed like the others. Craig, instead of trying to fool potential customers by getting false reviews put up on here and writing pathetic articles on EzineArticles.com why don't you actually attempt to change your business strategy. Your company is now famous in the construction industry for the way it treats its contractors and customers. Your business can only sustain bad publicity for so long.

Have you just lost your job Jadey? I'd forgotten all about this but seeing your comment cut and pasted all over WOM made me think something was up. A quick Google search and I've found the greatest news ever. Lazaway have finally gone belly up. Craig should have taken my advice above seriously. There were some really lovely honest people in the admin team at Lazaway. If you were one of them, I'm sorry you're caught up in it but the people running the show at Lazaway were not nice people and quite frankly, I hope Craig loses everything. He has caused so much heart ache to so many people and now a lot of people are going to lose a lot of money who have partly built pools.

Could not rate the professional team at Lazaway any higher.
A truly great customer experience.
Everyone one we dealt with at Lazaway were at all times very customer-centric.
Fully recommended

When did you get your pool

davidj24 17 Oct 2012

Because I had the same thing, they did get sick of me calling all the time but it was well worth it, looks great

verified email - 17 Oct 2012

just had our second pool by lazaway completed this year, the first was in 1995 in Mitcham, moved to Upweyand decided we needed to have a pool, looked around at all the pool companies, but we gave lazaway another go. the price was unbeatable, and we got value for money, they did the pool, the fence and the copers as one price, and guaranteed the start and finish, started on time, finished one week late, but the end result is worth it.

Approximate cost: $41,650.00
