Used to be my favourite sushi place to go! So sad that they closed the sushi train business and transferred as bento business. I rekcon the taste would still be good! Will definitely give it a go next time when i visit Chatswood!

I often go here when in Chatswood. I find it one of the better sushi places as the food is always fresh due to the fact it's always busy. Love the Scallop Omelette Hand rolls!!! Ask for fresh wasabi and ginger as they don't provide unless you ask for it. They provide the packet versions on the sushi train but it's not as good. Not the cheapest but still worth it.

Well done to the staff here for their friendly and helpful suggestions. Not from around the area there are two Makoto places located on Victoria Pde, more to the point was the delicious servings offered, the rice/donburi dishes were one to wet anyone's appetite. The young ones even had a great time out too.

Not the best japanese eatery I have eaten at but standard is of reasonable quality and consistent. Service has been a little patchy, can be a little slow.

Never has a restaurant gone down hill so fast! New management are more concerned about making a buck then anything else.

The salmon is dry and 3/4 qtr the portions they were before, whilst the prices have gone up by 50c to $1 a plate. Same with my former favourites Karrage Chicken and soft shell crab which is half the size, though the crab is $1 cheaper than before. The soft shell crab is also smothered in mayo, to hide the poor quality and give it some quantity.

But my issue with this place is the head waiter, who lets his mates push in. There is a waiting list which I and other families used and waited patiently. Thought the list isn't as long as it use to be, we were 4th in the queue, when a couple turned up and pushed in front over everyone as the head waiter let them in. Then it happened again, with other customers also baffled what number his mates are being seated before them four families waited as his mates were seated before hand. When this was raised to him by the next people in line, he said they took a number before, which is a flat out lie. The customers with young children really appreciated that they wait in the cold as his mates are eating up.

We all said we won't be back, but after the tasting the lack luster sushi plates which look like they are plated on diner plates the food quantities are so small, I am sure no-one will.

Really good sushi place where you can find different varieties of sushi rolls> they made us with unique ingredient and so tasty. Believe me, you will not disappoint.

The food was marvelous but the queue was disaster. Take away which supposed to take just mins to prepare since they take all the foods from the sushi train itself but it took them 20 mins to prepare. Their sushi is still one of the best in Sydney.

Shame about the service, especially when the food is great

We bought it take away the other night because the place was packed.
Fresh, tasty and great value. Excellent sushi, don and udon.
Althought it was take away but the quality and the quantity didn't effected at all. we love the hand rolled sushi and their tempura udon. very very nice.
It was a lot of fun as the restaurant was vibrant, lively and full of people. The food was spectacular and delivered with efficiency and smiles.
I definitely will visit regularly.

This place does great sushi. It's fresh and they have a lot of combinations on offer, more than most sushi train places I've been to. My favourite aspect however is that if you don't see something on the train that you'd like, you can request it and they will make it for you.

I also really like their desserts, and I think they aren't too expensive, though they definitely aren't a cheap place to eat. I love their scallops with cheese as well, and I enjoy going here when I'm in Chatswood and I feel like a lighter lunch.

I like going to Makoto Sushi train as their sushi are very fresh, some of them are creatively as well. I love the grilled salmon and the scallop sushi the most with lots of mayo. There is always a queue during peak hours where you need to get a ticket and wait to be called. If you sit right in the shop in the further end, the kitchen/ cooking smell tends to get quite strong so I always try to request for seats closer to the entrance. Staff is welcoming and friendly. The price is relatively more expensive than the other sushi trains but if you go there later in the night, past 9pm, the plates are half price as the shop will close soon.

Thanks for the tip about where to sit.
