Good, but I think it was oversold to me. Solid bagels and good coffee, but also pretty loud. I'm going with 4 because I think I could have enjoyed it more under different circumstances - I was pretty tired and not very hungry.

Really cute store, the alleyway looked pretty plain so I actually walked right past the first time but once you go inside the store it's filled with people. Lovely bagles. So fresh and tasty. Staff and very efficient and attentive. Very satisfied

For a busy brunch Place, they did well in the service side. Seating us asap. Taking orders promptly. So on. Price is acceptable for brunch. Coffee was amazing with coffee art. Great quality. Worth visiting.

Almost missed this cafe! Everytime I walk past but never seem to notice it. Went in and got a coffee, did not regret at all!

Stopped here for coffee one Monday afternoon and managed to jag a table - the place was packed out! I didn't have the food, but it looks amazing. The coffee was fantastic, needed no sugar and was well priced. The decor is funky and industrial style, and it's hidden in a laneway - a perfect mix!

Went there on a chilly saturday morning. Ordered a Raisin Bagel with Mascarpone for me and an avacado fetta chilli bagel for my wife. It was a wonderful experience eating those bagels laden with lumps of mascarpone. Was a gastronomical delight

Come here for the eggs, that's all I have to say about this place. The art is fun, the coffee is decent and the staff are friendly and it just has a great vibe. They're still only charging $3.50 for a coffee which is unheard of in this city these days.

Hard to find, a hidden gem. Really nice Bagels, you do wait to be served and you'll wait for your order awhile too. Not the best I've ever had but if its not too busy we pop in from time to time

Great coffee. Bagels are enjoyable- very generous with their toppings although each bagel will cost 13-15 dollars each. Good culture with their service- they brought us coffee quite late once and we weren't charged for them!

Early lunch to avoid the queues, but already packed out even though we arrived before 12pm. I had the pulled pork with appleslaw - delicious and a very generous serve. coffee was great too.

Manchester Press is about as hidden away as you can get. Tucked away down a little laneway, the little sign out the front doesn't give much away. Hidden inside are friendly staff and some delicious lunch items. I thoroughly enjoyed their hot chocolate, and although not much of a coffee drinker myself, have heard some very good feedback from friends (who are quite picky!)

The bagels here are AMAZING. I'll give you that. $13-$15 AUD a pop for their deluxe pulled pork, smoked salmon, pastrami, et.c, type of bagel, and around $8 for the more simple cream cheese, butter toasted bagels. We got the pastrami bagel ($13) with sauerkraut and pulled pork bagel ($14). Look, this isn't cheap, but i guess it's your average Aussie price. I'm not gonna lie, both those bagels are likely the best bagels i recall ever entered my mouth. Unfortunately, the takeout is the same price but sans salad, which made me regret not having sat down for the food. I mean I didn't get pickles, salad, or red onion, which looks delicious on the pictures here. The portion of the bagel is really big and will fill you for most of your day.

always long queue! cool decors! good coffee! nice bagels!! long wait? definitely not a problem, the food is good enough to wait! can go for both lunch and breakfast. I went for breakfast and ordered the pulled pork bagel, its delicious and tasted like meat floss.

Where have these guys been!? Such a great breakfast joint to grab a yummy bagel or two. Nice and varied menu of both savory and sweet kinds I loved the bacon and egg and am ready to try something sweet on Tuesday morning!

This is a breakfast & causal lunch type of cafe. It follows in the style of the sevens seeds group with the raw furniture, warehouse decor etc.
It is known for its atmosphere, bagels & coffee. Bagels make up the 80% of the menu + a couple of salads.
We ordered the most interesting sounding options on the menu:
Open Bagel with Chorizo, cheese, capsicum, tomato & relish ($13)
Fruit & Nut Bagel with Mixed Berry Mascarpone, Strawberries & Pistachios ($12)
They were good, fillings were fresh and serving sizes were reasonable.
But for $12-14, you would expect a pretty good bagel!
We also ordered coffees. A latte and a long black.
At Manchester Press, all drinks made with milk, come with pretty pictures (coffee art) on the surface of the drink. The latte was no exception to this.
However, it was disappointing to find that the actual coffees themselves were lacking in flavour profile, particularly noticeable in the long black.
Despite being touted as a go to place for coffee, Manchester Press seems to spend more time on the aesthetics than on the coffee itself. Alarm bells should have started to ring when we saw that the coffee options were limited to espresso, long black, flat white, latte & perhaps a capp. No Macchiatos, no ristrettos, no filters or drip styles.
Service wise, given the apparent popularity of the place (20 min wait for tables) staff are fairly efficient. Reasonable cafe service.
Given the close proximity of Little Mule & Co, and Brother Baba Budan, I wouldn't come back for coffee at least. The bagels are good however, so if you have a big hankering for a bagel and want to go somewhere more upmarket & trendy than Glicks, then Manchester Press might be the answer.

Always a queue of people waiting for lunch. Its a place i wouldnt have found if my colleagues didn't rave about it at work. the place is hidden in an alley and cannot be seen in the main street. The coffee and the bagels are good quality. For the coffee, they even take the effort to draw an interesting picture on your milk froth. Recommend for lunch anyday.

This isn't really a place you might happen to pass by normally - you need to be looking for it. It's buried in an alleyway - have a look at google maps so you know in advance how to get there. I went around lunch time and managed to get seats, but it was around full capacity the entire time. So it's busy enough, but it wasn't horribly so (probably because of its hidden location).

Predominantly a bagel place, with multiple types of bagels (plain, poppy seed, sesame seed, multi grain from memory). Their menu consists of various open/closed bagels, soup (with bagel), or salad (probably not with bagel because that would defeat the point of ordering a salad, I imagine) -- but if you get in before 12 you can order the baked eggs (comes with a bagel).

The baked eggs have pesto, cherry tomatoes and feta in them and cost $13. For an additional $3 you can choose to add either salmon or chorizo. Our table had all 3 and everyone enjoyed them!

The open bagels also looked amazing! They put the toppings on both sides of the bagel. Will likely try one of these next time.

I have to also tell you - they split bills!! You can pay for your parts of the bill (cash or card) and they just mark it off the bill. I was so happy about this - most places won't let you.

I had a smoked salmon bagel and a cup of coffee there. Staff was friendly and quickly working. The food was what I expected for the price. I would recommend this place because of its lovely coffee designs.

Another hidden Melbourne gem that screams 'Melbourne'. An industrially cool fit-out with great coffee. If you're lucky you might get a pretty picture in your milky froth. Bagels and soup are delicious (if soup / bagels are your thing)!

Manchester Press is one of those cafes in the CBD that you have to be taken there to find. It's in tiny little Rankins Lane - look for the basketball hoop. If you see people shooting baskets, you're at the right place.

The coffee is always great every time I go there - smooth, rich, very amusing coffee art that's guaranteed to kick-start a conversation.

They offer a wide selection of bagels and some gluten-free cakes. The bagels are fantastic - my personal favourite is the one with smoked salmon and avocado, but the one with the cherry tomatoes is great as well.

A friend of mine took me to this cafe.. she suggested me to have the bagel, so I had a bagel with blueberries, it was Delicious! and ordered the latte - it came with an artwork! coffee was great !! sure would go back again...

Located in an alley off Little Bourke Street. I was surprised that this cafe existed in this alley when my colleague took me there for coffee one afternoon. I've only had the coffee here which was REALLY good(with impressive latte artwork) but they seem to specialize in bagels which other patrons were having. They looked very enticing so I'll be back during lunch one day!
