Been getting clothes done at Manhattan for several years. Best in Adelaide and done right. Rob and staff are good and knowledgeable
Approximate cost: $12
It is a pity that their customer service does not match the quality of their cleaning. Be careful about their Seniors discount. You have to present your card when you drop off your items, not when you pay. They may know this is how their system works but the average customer does not. In most places you present your discount card when you pay. No attempt was made to keep this first time customer on side by offering to make the discount happen, on the contrary, they couldn't have cared less.
These guys are good, but they are getting so costly that I sometimes feel it would be better to go and buy something new, rather than try to get a stain out of a favourite item.
If your item is worth more than $100, it makes sense to spend $18 having it drycleaned. But some things that I've bought on sale for $70 or less no longer seem worth the high price of dry cleaning.
I now try to use some home remedies, and if that doesn't work, I just put them in the too-hard basket, because paying 1/3 to 1/4 of the original price of the item to have it cleaned properly seems ridiculous!
Manhattan DO do a great job, but I think their popularity has caused their prices to skyrocket, and as much as I love their service, I have to do the maths.
Manhattan are the best - where else can you get a take a dress on a Saturday at 10.30am and have it back by 1pm the same day? Fantastic customer service & quality job - very happy customer :)
I used to go to Manhatten drycleaners all the time for silk dresses, work suits, jackets with stains etc which all came back clean and not smelling of that harsh chemicals. Until recently where I had a white jacquarander bed spread which came back shruncker and a bleached white and very stiff. I haven't been back since as that bed spread was expensive to purchase.
Approximate cost: $35.00
They did apologise but no compensation offerred for the bed spread, I was too upset and exhuasted to pursue it further.
i hate it when i hear those things and it stops me from trusting the place. they should know how quickly one bad act spreads a bad reputation really fast! they are expensive too!
They were good for a number of years, it was just upsetting after so many years a trusted dry cleaners ended badly, especially when I have referred many people to them despite them being that bit more expensive.
If you are looking for a drycleaner to tackle a difficult stain, or a vintage dress, or something delicate, Manhattan is totally amazing.
They are more costly than some other drycleaners. But that's because they actually do the job! I've bought in delicate silk or white clothes that have seemed ruined by stains, and walked away from Manhattan with an as-new piece of clothing. They are like drycleaning superheroes!
I thoroughly recommend them.
Approximate cost: $12-18 per item
My experience shows that some dry cleaners charge a premium price but do a standard job, or do an average job for a standard price. Manhattan provide a premium service for a good price which equals excellent value. I had an old suede and leather football jacket dry cleaned there. The friendly dry cleaner explained what they would do in quite a bit of details. He warned me upfront that it would be expensive but the price he quoted was still quite a bit cheaper than other dry cleaners had charged me previously. When I collected the jacket, the dry cleaner showed me how it had turned out and it was amazing. For a jacket that was 10+ years old, it was looking almost like new again. I have also had ties dry cleaned there and they do an excellent job of removing stains, whilst other dry cleaners have warned me up front that the stains may not come out, and when I have collected them, it appeared as though they hadn't even tried to remove them.
