I found these guys very easy to deal with. They quoted a better price for an expensive job that needed to be done to prevent sudden failure at a later date (identified by a different garage). The job was done and car even returned with a courtesy clean and drop off. The performance of the car then had issues which may or may not have been caused by their work, for which they offered a courtesy free inspection, found the problem and fixed it, despite that it may not have been caused by them. Again car returned cleaner. Very happy with their friendly service.

Mansfield motors, recently quoted over $6000.00 to do a roadworthy on a year 2000 Camry. The car is worth less than $2000.00
If this is not over the top, what is ?
I believe many people are being fleeced here.
By the way , a legit roadworthy was done for $350.

After going to Mansfield Motors I was a little disappointed and confused to get a list of things that needed doing to my car.. I've always had it serviced and this was the first time I'd visited Mansfield Motors (I'd changed jobs and they were on the way to work). I was a bit sceptical at first, so I took my car to a different mechanic (close to work) who basically said that there was nothing wrong with my car. Now even more confused I got my dad involved, we contacted Mansfield Motors about the differences of opinion as I didn't know who to believe. Mansfield Motors had a detailed report with accompanying photos, obviously being the most professional we decided to query them. They invited us to come in so we could see for ourselves the problems first hand. In the mean time they emailed my dad a full copy of the report & sent a link to an online picture library so dad could see exactly what they were talking about.
Both dad and I took the car in. The ladies on the front counter were very friendly as well as knowledgeable. They organised for the foreman to put the car up in the air and took us into the workshop so we could be shown these things for ourselves. Viewed first hand there was no doubt in our minds these photos were of my car and there were indeed items that required attention. Dad and I were both convinced there were definitely things that needed doing to my car. We could now fully appreciate that there was both urgent repairs as well as regular maintenance items that needed doing. We also learned how the non-urgent things if left unattended would end up costing me more in the long term if I didn't get them done.
We left the car there for the agreed work to be completed. Their prices might be slightly higher but with their level of professionalism it was worth it for peace of mind (after all you only get what you pay for).
The work was completed and I picked up my car the next day. It was done on time and on budget apart from something minor which couldn't have been foreseen (I did get a telephone call for approval before they did the extra).
My car is going great and I haven't had any problems, the follow up call to ensure everything was going as expected and subsequent thank you card was also a nice and unexpected finishing touch.
Mansfield Motors, you've won me and from now on I won't be going anywhere else. Dad's also booked his two cars in as well for servicing. He thought the photos were a great idea after dealing with my car as he says there is no need to question what needs to be done and why (a picture tells a thousand words!).
I really can't understand why other so called professionals didn't see fit to inform me as Mansfield Motors had done. Price isn't the only important consideration when it comes to maintaining my car. I feel trust, safety and reliability are my key concerns.
Mansfield Motors really does have a point of difference.

We were not happy with Mansfield Motors. They were friendly and did the work that we asked them to satisfactorily, and also provided a thorough check which diagnosed and documented many recommendations for the car for free. The thorough check resulted in an extensive list of things to do, some things quite urgent. We took the list to another mechanic for a second opinion. The second mechanic said only two of the things needed to be done so we got those done through him as he quoted cheaper prices.

Two things that stood out from the report from Mansfield Motors was the CV joint and the timing belt. In regards to the CV joint they said there was grease on it and needed urgent repair. The mechanic who we took it to for a second opinion said that there was only mud on it. Mansfield Motors took exception to me writing this in our previous review on them and responded by saying that there was mud on it but it was sticking to grease which was being flung out and that they stand by their opinion that it needed urgent repair. At the end of the day, this occurred in August last year and at the time we took the advice of the second mechanic and did nothing about it and the car has given us no problems after the other two problems were fixed (which were unrelated to the CV joint).

The other thing we took exception to was that we interpreted the report as saying that the timing belt kit needed replacing, which had in fact been done 10, 000km earlier and was noted in the log book. Mansfield Motors, in response to my writing this in the previous review, claims that they did note that it was done in the log book and advised us to check our invoices to ensure that this was actually done and that the 'timing belt kit' was replaced rather than just the timing belt. There was obviously a miscommunication there. So my advice to you is to cross-check any recommendations they give to you with your log book and previous invoices, as they themselves recommended to us in their response to my previous review.

At the end of the day, we found a cheaper mechanic who we were very happy with and have had no problems with the car since our service with him which was a couple of weeks after the one we had at Mansfield Motors. As such, we will be continuing to go to him and not to Mansfield Motors.

I'm very sorry to hear that you weren't completely happy with your experience with us. We pride ourselves on providing fair prices and would never recommend works that were not required. Whether an error was made on our part or some miscommunication, I'm not sure. I'd really like the opportunity to discuss this with you further so we can get to the bottom of it. Please contact me and I'll personally make sure that you're looked after. Regards, Julian

Have used them a few times now. Started using a different marketing strategy which put me off. They've also made suggestions as to what needed fixing. Good to know but a bit over the top i thought.

Approximate cost: $500.00
