Nice, it's a good Yum Cha. It's very busy, and hard to get in with the lift and all.
Approximate cost: $50
This place is great for yum cha. We had a feast and even had duck! I'd recommend it for big groups/banquets as it is great value.
Yum Cha, a la carte and menu dining. This place has a variety and will not disappoint. It is a favorite. I love the tasty food, great service and fair pricing too.
I have been here for both Yum Cha and for people's wedding banquet. I don't think this is the best Yum Cha places in town, but definitely one of well-known places amongst the Chinese for Yum Cha and functions. It offers similar dishes as most of other Yum Cha places, price is decent and quality is ordinarily good, but not that spectacular.
Approximate cost: $40
This was the restaurant that brought Yum Cha to Australia. So thanks for that, but not as good as it used to be and not as good as some of the newer options.
Nice southern Chinese food here.
Located near Paddys market it's a very busy Chinese restaurant. The food is outstanding. Will come back
Approximate cost: $16
The food at Marigold is really special and it is one of the best Chinese restaurants in Sydney.
Marigold is one of the best places to eat Yum Cha in Sydney. The yum Cha selection is extensive and delicious. The place gets extremely busy, so there might be a long wait.
I've been for Yum Cha 5 years now. Perhaps it's because I'm chinese and I know what I want, am always greeted by the staff with smiles. Love the salt and pepper calamari, beef balls, coconut red bean pudding and egg tarts
There is always a queue but the thing (we only go at night or weekend lunch time) is, most I have ever waited was for 5-10 minutes. That is quite a feat in itself.
Because I love coming here so much I would highly recommend this restaurant :)
Approximate cost: $25
Average yumcha. They do have a wide variety of dimsum, and nothing tasted awful, but neither was anything outstanding. Service is ok, kinda brisk.
Went here on Thursday for yum cha lunch. we were in a rush but overall I was disappointed. The service was poor I had to laugh when the waiter literally threw our plates and they nearly smashed on the table. we asked for drinks and never got them. The prawn dim sum was ok as were the flat noodle and other dim sum we had. The calamari was so so. Mango pancake-disappointing. I wouldn't go back as for thirty bux a head it was a waste.
That is appalling, I am surprised you didn't complain to management.
The food (Yumcha) was still ok not thing outstanding, but the service provided was horrible. Bad Manner, very rude, poor service. Charging $2+ per head for tea, but never ever refill the water. Poor table setting manner, were literally flying the bowl and plate across the table.
Approximate cost: $10
Sounds like a very average experience indeed! Thanks for sharing, I will certainly not be eating here anytime soon.
It was a good dining experience. We came in early to have yum cha. The service was really lacklustre. It took a while to get anyone's attention. The food was mostly good. One dish (a curd dish) was a little burnt and the tea (which you do pay for) was terrible. But the other food was good. The chicken feet and prawn har gao were great! Reasonable prices too. We came first thing in the morning and saw a lot of Chinese people there - evidence that the cooking is on par with what is served in Asian countries and not dumbing down to flavour to suit the Australian palate. Overall, excellent food!
THis is my favourite Chinese restaurant by far! It's great for yum cha as well as dinner. Generally go here for dinner and will order seafood.. I often see people come here just to order seafood. Yum cha is also great because theres a huge variety to choose from. Plus their egg tarts are DELICIOUS. Recommend this to anyone looking for authentic yum cha dining experience.
I've been coming here since I was a little girl and whenever we are in the city I bring the family for Yum Cha. We always get the prawn har gao, dim sums, salt and pepper calamari , steamed asian greens with oyster sauce and mango pancakes and egg tarts for dessert!
Food is always piping hot and fresh but it is popular with the locals and it can take awhile to be seated , but the wait os worth it.
Approximate cost: $5 +
One of the first times in recent memory that I have been here, I went on Mother's Day. That may have been a mistake, as there was an inordinately long wait to eat. However, the last time I was there, it was very different, somewhat quiet actually, and it was unique and refreshing as being on the top level of a building of such a busy city really makes you feel somewhat removed from chaos, if there is such a thing possible at a yumcha restaurant.
The mango pancakes are amazing here, so I really recommend that you get some for dessert. I also really like their har gao, xiao long bao and also the prawns wrapped in rice noodles, drenched in soy sauce that I've forgotten the name of. Overall, I really like this place to eat.
yeah, love the yum cha too.
Too over-rated!! Expensive for yum cha and dinner. Terrible customer service. Mediocre food. It took 45 minutes before first dish came out. forgot our steam rice.
We kept reminding them but they just they just didn't take it very seriously, maybe they are paid by very low wages.
I like good service but this was just rubbish.
Oh my frickin god this place was amazing. Over 3 weeks in Sydney on business last month, 5 work friends and I went here twice, via the monorail, it's a 3 minute walk, up the seedy elevator, and walk out into the restaurant. The hostess was a terrible excuse for a human, quite rude, but, the food and the waiters, there was no room for improvement. Hence returning. Whatever you do, order the salt and pepper squid, and don't ask to split bill. Or you'll cop the wrath of the almighty hostess without the mostess.
Approximate cost: $35
This would have to be the best yum cha restaurant around town. There is always someone coming past your table with a trolley full of yum cha delicacies. The variety of different types of foods is amazing and it's pretty cheap for dining in the city as well. It's always busy but there usually isn't a problem getting a table. Even if you have to wait 5 or 10 minutes it's worth it. Do yourself a favour and grab about 5 of your friends and hit this yum cha restaurant. You won't be disappointed!
They have parking downstairs as well.. Very convenient.
That's really good to know
I have bben coming here for ym cha for years and the food is always great. They have all the standard yum cha offerings - loads of dim sims, exotics like chicken feet etc. It is so full of different trolleys I have actually witnessed trolley traffic jams here. My favourite is the mango pudding with coconut milk and the mango pancakes are also great. I am only marking this down to three as the service is very average, busy or not. If you don't order a drink and the chilli sauce as soon as you sit down - don't expect to get it.
Went there just for Yum Cha and they never disappointed us. The quality of food has been consistently well. The service can be sometimes slow as they are extremely busy during lunch.
Marigold offers a great Yum Cha. Has a good atmosphere and gets very busy on the weekend! However its good to go early during the week to avoid the queues and get better service. The people offering the dumplings and food are very efficient and once you get the attention of a drinks waiter, service is good. They also offer a great parking special. Just next to the entrance, there is a small car park. It has valet parking and the parking is very cheap! It is less than $5 an hour if you get it stamped with your bill from the Marigold which works out better than street parking in the city! From the car park just get the lift straight up to level 5 and start eating!
The restaurant is very big and has a lot of tables. The Yum Cha is quite good. The prices are very affordable. The waiters/waitress are very attentive to customer's needs, food always arrive on time.
I enjoyed the food here, though the portions were very small. They have a great variety of food. The place has a nice atmosphere.
The food is good though
We really enjoyed the food here. Great flavours, variety and prices. The best part was that they didn't keep us waiting long as the food arrived pretty quick.
Great Chinese restaurant with good food. Came here for a wedding and the food was delicious. Service was pretty good too.
Yum food, these guys know what they are doing. I have been going Herr gore 5 years and i have always enjoyed myself.
A good restaurant for dim sum in Sydney. Prices are not that cheap and the dim sum is just fair. However , the service is good.
Nice place to have your morning tea. The food was awesome. Go here if you want to enjoy a Chinese meal. Price are reasonable.
Approximate cost: $30
For Yumcha, the food is ok, service is average. For dinner, the food is average, service is below average. For that price, you can find a better one in chinatown.
Approximate cost: $19
