I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for some cheap eats. This place is so affordable and delicious!! I love coming here because the location is convenient as well.
Absolutely good value with tasty food that is in good serving sizes and priced cheaply. A1 service and good location
thank you great reading !!!
Agree!
Absolutely love this place! It's such good value for money and the noodles are so simple yet hearty, flavoursome and filling. I really enjoy the variety of sides that you can choose from and really recommend the octopus balls, kim chi and potato salad to go with the fantastic noodles. It can be hard to get a seat but it's so worth the quick, fast food style environment. The eggs on my noodles were simply divine - cooked well with the oozy yolk.
It's such good value!
Good environment, friendly staffs, affordable food, delicious food. Definitely come back again!

Nice environment!
The place is very conveniently located near the station / cinemas. It's super cheap and customised and a good place for students to eat. The food is also good, not only for the price but good for what it is. There's lots of variety.
It has a green tea slushy which is great.
Such a convenient location!
I love their bukkake udon (great that it happens to be the cheapest thing on the menu too..XD), the rest of the stuff is only ok. Be careful of rising costs if you add too many tempura sides. :) The sweet potato at $1 (I remember when it used to be 70-80c..) is nice, but the rest tend towards oily. Nonetheless, good to grab a quick bite. Now, if only I could replicate the bukkake sauce at home, since I have the frozen udon..^^"
Approximate cost: $7
Sounds yum!
What can $3.8 can do. I will say a yummy Japanese cold udon. One of the place to save money when you eat out in the city. Cheap doesnt mean bad quality I am not sure if the udon is homemade, but at least it taste like one. Great taste with the lime sauce
Approximate cost: $3.8
Yuuum! So affordable
I felt like I was back at my old cafeteria in Japan! And to find this in Sydney, I was so happy! Service is good. I tried ordering in Japanese, but the person couldn't understand me at all. Damn. But it was like a really Japanese kitchen, shouting orders at each other. You order what you want. Then you walk along, picking out the other things to go with your meal such as tofu, bean curd skin, tempura etc. Tey have dessert options as well, such as mochi. My udon were nice, but I wasn't a big fan of the sauce. But my friend had the 'white lover' and it was really tasty! Apparently their soft boiled eggs are excellent, but I didn't try them. They have green tea slushies too, which were really good as well. With your meal, you sit yourself down. We were here about 9-ish on a weekday night and it was half full. The place has a nice Japanese feel inside and you even put away your tray, as you would do in Japan! Overall, a really nice experience. And I must say, very, very great value as well! :D
Approximate cost: $7
Nice for quick lunch or dinner but the problem is always anytime is busy and crowded. Many variety and the special is the side dish and very authentic Japan also the place is looks like in Japan.
Approximate cost: $10
i love their decor too feel like in japan
i love their decor too feel like in japan

great place for a quick, cheap and tasty meal. Specialties are the udon and soba. My favourite is the cold udon with a runny egg and lemon (ontama bukake udon). Don't go overboard with the tempura as it can get too heavy!
Approximate cost: $10
I like this japanese noodle bar, it is close to 85degree cake shop. It also has a good neighbor for rice, Oiden, which I will write a separate review.
This noodle bar offers mainly Soba and Udon. I like the Udon here, hot beef Udon or curry Udon are both great. Cold udon or soba are also available, like the spicy miso mince pork with kimchi. They also offer side dish and tempura. The tempura here is very good because it come with the right sauce, I like the prawn, sweet potato and the fish cake.
Very good price and staffs are all very busy but friendly, you need to return your own tray after dine in.
I love this place. There are lots of delicious food.
If you love japanese food, I reccommand this place.
The price is so cheap but the quality of food is amazing.
This is my favorite spot!!!
I liked it here, enjoyed my udon noodles and loved my opportunity to pick out my sides of tempura. However I find the servings a little on the small side though the ambience was great.
love this place..... the atmosphere is really warm and feel like back in Japan's old time. The foods are very delicious. you choose what u want and top up with anything that you want. So you are only paying what you want to eat. That is brilliant. Love this place...
Approximate cost: $10
An incredibly good place to hit up for a lunch under $10 near the CBD. Love this place because it reminds me of those little noodle bars in Tokyo! Food is great and served on the spot as you go down the line. Seating can be tricky but is relatively ok for groups of say four or less.
This is one of the hidden treasures of food that you can find around the city. The restaurant serve japanese-styled noodles of the most amazing creativity with its main attraction being the different types of noodles and half boiled egg. This restaurant is styled to being a fast food but healthy noodle bar.
All in all, once you've tried this place you will never forget about it and always returning. A restaurant that cannot be missed.
Approximate cost: $6
Really nice little restaurant. The food is great and it is a nice atmosphere and fun with the trays. However, try to visit when it's not so busy or you'll be there with your tray forever!!
Mappen is the relative newcomer around here, from the people at Menya Noodle Bar. This little restaurant, inside the Skyview Plaza, looks like a little piece straight out of Japan. It's all communal tables with customers slurping noodles next to each other amid old school movie posters and decorations that take me right back to the earlier Japanese movie.
The concept is self-serve udon, soba and tempura as well as a couple of rice options. The cafeteria style, shifting along with a tray, is pure novelty to me, but when faced with a full queue, it's not a particularly speedy way of getting to the register to pay. The line is also held up when tempura sauce or miso soup spillages happen.
Quite an ordinary Japanese restaurant, and somewhat small. It's difficult to find a seat, and you can't save seats for your friends who are coming later. Nonetheless, food is good value for money.
