Staff were very friendly! Food was good and moderately priced for the location. Would definitely be back for the great service and ocean views.

A really beautiful location with a nice restaurant and cafe that don't just trade off the location. Both the menu and staff are lovely and make it a comprehensively enjoyable experience.

My partner and I dropped in here for lunch. We got a table right away, although the place was busy. We ordered a couple of coffees which were fine. The ambience wasn't nice. The place was very loud and cramped, and the fishy smell from the beach made me feel sick, I couldn't have eaten food here.

Stopped here on a bike ride with a group of friends. Have to say there are definitely better cafes along the bike trail. Hot chocolate was quite good but not as impressed with the muffin which was meant to be passionfruit and white chocolate - but seemed to be full of walnuts and nothing else.

Although it was only 11.00am they seemed to be more focused on serving lunches. No menu of cakes and pastries (nor did and they seem to be on display)and told we only had a choice between croissants and muffins.

I've been here a numerous amount of times for coffee and a few times for meals I agree with you it's pretty average.

We had brunch here on the weekend and I must say I was impressed. I'd previously been disappointed (especially in the service) but they seem to have turned things around. Food was great. Coffee was excellent - and fast! And they coped really well with our large group (which included kids). After not going here for a year or so, I'll definitely be back again soon.

I went there for breakfast this morning and was served by one of the many 15 year old under trained waiters. Coffees took half an hour to get to the table and were cold when they did. Three breakfasts came out at once and the last one took another ten minutes. We had ordered a croissant (which are advertised on a big blackboard at the entrance) and then our breakfasts came out the waiter said they had run out....information that would have been nice 20 minutes earlier. The big breakfast was missing hash browns and the eggs with extra avocado was missing the avocado. Food was cold and the 'volcanic' hot coffees definately were not 'volcanic' as recommended. We asked to speak to the manager, we had to ask twice before we could actually speak to him. When we were finished we went to pay and we were charged to the croissant that didn't turn up! All up a pretty dissapointing experience. Not sure I will be back in a hurry - Hire some wait staff that are not in high school.

Approximate cost: $14.00

Hi Ab299, Thanks for your comments. Unfortunately, many low-end establishments choose to hire incompetent youngsters in an uneducated (or greedy) bid to save money. However in most instances the money saved from such practices is minimal and costs the business more in other areas. Eg. Dissatisfied customers utilizing Word of Mouth. We thank you for the heads-up. Best thing about the baths is the views. Gorgeous setting on the water overlooking the old historic baths. The food is good too.. the service can be a bit hit and miss, but I think it is getting better (over the years I have been going there)..

Picture this: warm, sunny Sunday, ten adults, three newborns and a two year old wanting to have a nice lunch. Someone suggests the Middle Brighton Baths, calls are made and a booking is accepted, prams and all. The view downstairs (the cafe) is magnificent, looking into the protected swimming area and the sea. The staff are helpful when doors need opening to shuttle perambulators through and are sufficiently attentive for drinks and orders. The menu appears tempting but don't quite live up to reality. I had the calamari salad and it was more like a coriander and garlic salad with a sprinkling of calamari.

Thankfully the coffee was good but that's not exactly perfect for lunch.

Recently dined here for lunch with friends. Most commented their meals were very average, especially the portion sizes. One friend asked for a slight variation on a foccacia and was told they can take things off but not put them on! Pretty slow service really - lucky the view is good is all I can say.

Went to the Middle Brighton Baths Cafe this morning for breakfast with friends. With views of the historic Brighton Baths close up, the city skyline on the horizon, and yachts racing on the bay in between, there must be few places in Melbourne with views better than this. Well I can't think of too many anyway.

I had a muesli with yogurt, which was nothing to write home about (or here), but the scenery is really excellent and more than makes up for the standard fare being dished out.

Coffee still not as good as Cafe Racer.

Approximate cost: $8-15
