Professor Malham is an outstanding surgeon, and I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending him. I went to see him with a bulging lumbar disc that over the course of a year had made it difficult - at times impossible - to stand for any length of time, walk for any distance, or exercise. He explained the procedure to me, booked me in, and before I knew it, I was waking up completely pain-free and with absolutely no surgical complications. I'm well on my healing journey and have suggested his practice to a number of people for their own neurosurgery procedures. Getting a back operation is always going to be a nerve-wracking procedure (no pun intended) but you're in the best of hands here!

After 26 years of spinal fusions carried out by various surgeons with various levels of success the last section started collapsing under the strain of the surgeries done on either side. Naturally the pain was severe, all the more so after the orthopaedic surgeon on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast was unsuccessful in his attempt to do the operation. (He also failed to admit it & is now under investigation). After 6 months I was finally stable enough to be medevac to Epworth. After a week of intensive tests, Greg swept into my room like a breadth of fresh air. He overcame my inherent distrust of surgeons & explained what he intended to do over two operations. The first would remove the Queensland’s man work & the second would actually fix it. In that first visit he was very clearly across the problems & had studied & developed well planned solutions. Finally I had a surgeon I trusted & I knew I was in the best hands. Within 2 days the first op was done with the second a week later. Greg works with an excellent team who he is training to reach his standards. I was impressed by his commitment to develop more top surgeons. Through all my operations (spinal & other) I never encountered such a caring & genuine surgeon, who has a remarkable commitment to delivering only the best results. And he did deliver a perfect result with my complex issues.
Greg has compassion, a rare emotion in a surgeon. His strong “can do” style is exactly who he is & what he does. It’s now 2 years down the track - I was so impressed & delighted I’ve been in a happy bubble & forgot to post a review until now. In that intervening time he has continued to assist me. He really is the consummate professional. I couldn’t recommend him more highly.

Greg Malham is the most down to earth and honest surgeon. He made me feel comfortable and safe from the get go. I had pain in my lower back for years and there were times I would be out of action for weeks because of my sciatic nerve. He performed a disc replacement and has completely changed my life!

My R. leg had been had been extremely painful for months, tho' more worryingly, was becoming weaker by the day. After a referral & a couple of appointments with Mr Malham where we discussed - with the help of various scans etc - my spinal problems, It seemed there was an urgent need for me to have a Decompressive Laminectomy. Mr Malham using spinal 'models', diagrams, drawings etc, fully explained the op' to me. He also provided web sites that I could research which ensured I was fully informed as to the lead-up, hospital/op stage, rehab' & return to home procedure, which is how I like to face things.
The operation was to me, an obvious success as a few days later, my R. leg was almost pain free. Rehab (arranged by Mr Malham) was not what I really wanted but in retrospect was exactly what I needed. Rehab as well as tremendously assisting me physically also gave me the mental confidence for returning home.
Seven weeks later (Review-Mr Malham) my R. leg is totally pain free & the strength is slowly but surely returning, WOW.
From my first app't with Mr Malham to the 7 week review - & all between - I had complete trust & confidence in Mr Malham, I could not have been cared for any better & the success of the op, could not have been more.
I can never thank Mr Malham sufficiently for his care & expertise thru' what was, an extremely worrying time for my family & I.

Greg Malham gave back my life. I could not walk 500mtrs. sleep or sit without severe pain radiating down my lower back into my butt and down my leg. I was on extremely high pain killers to no avail. I went to many docs. physio and many xrays and carried the pain for about 18months with no help from any one. Finally my GP sent me to Greg Malham, she had heard good things about his work. Well he was right onto it. And explained very clearly what he intended to do. He is revolutionary with new unobtrusive methods. Replaced a crushed disc in lower back, but still the pain persisted but not as severe. On return visit to him, he was not happy with result and I under went a second op and this time he removed 3 arthritic nodes from my spine which were compacting on my sciatic nerve. The day after the op I was up and about pain free. After 6 months down the track I am nearly back to my old self, walking, sleeping and enjoying life again. Thank you to Greg Malham.
