I had gift vouchers for $190. I made many attempts to make an appt but got an engaged signal. I then left a message on 2 occasions and over nearly 2 weeks had no return calls. Eventually, I got through. They had just got a 2nd telephone connected following a recent online deal they had offered. That online deal 'get satisfaction'(complaint)thread has others that had a similar experience trying to make an appt for a service already paid for. Obviously they had overextended themselves & I was unable to get an appt for weeks. You'd think that the owner would appreciate any custom & try to have calls returned asap & to provide appointment slots for pre-paid services, so customers could be seen in a timely manner (otherwise don't solicit more custom by making online deals).

Prior to this, friends suggested we have a girly day & go to this spa whilst my toddler was in the creche. My friend also had difficulty in communicating with Mumma Bubba requiring chasing them up too. We had to wait several months before they could fit in 3 treatments & offer a creche spot. This appt was for a Sat (creche not usually open)but my friend was told that they'd now be offering this.
My friend having some doubts about this service, contacted them to confirm our joint appt to be told our time had been given away. I was told when I rang recently that they decided to not offer the creche on Sats and she hadn't been notified of this either.

Given these 2 bad experiences, I had no confidence in their services so I decided to ring the owner to request a cash refund so I could receive the services from another spa. I was told the owner was busy and that they didn't provide cash refunds but would have the owner call me. Most of the day had passed & I hadn't received a call & I was driving by so I went in and spoke to the manager. I retold my story & I was met with hostility and arrogance & told that waiting several weeks/months for appts was acceptable & that the appt was never cancelled. I had enquired earlier of the receptionist if their software was sophisticated enough to show cancellations, so they would have evidence of their error, but was told no, so the owner could not say this with conviction. With no apology she provided a cash refund but she repeatedly said that the appt was never cancelled & I said that then she was calling me a liar. This woman actually verbally said that I was a liar. When I said I couldn't believe her arrogance she rudely asked me to leave. I will not be recommending this spa to any of the other mothers I have contact with and suggest our dept at work no longer buy their vouchers. I have also seen that on that online deal website that there is also another complaint of a person having their appt cancelled on them without notification & I've heard a similar personal story. So just who is the liar?

angiei 15 Nov 2011

I saw that deal on groupon or something similar and I missed out on it, but reading about your experience has made me feel that it was probably a good thing that I didn't grab it. I was considering buying a gift voucher for my friend who is having a b/day this month but I think I'll give it a swerve and get her in with a great place over on annerly road and just do the baby sitting for her myself.. Sorry to hear that the management was rude to you. Clearly they haven't heard to age old rule of "the customer is always right"....

unhappycamperc 15 Nov 2011

Thanks angiei- I'm glad my review has helped you and your friend avoid a lot of grief. Unfortunately, I am finding a lot of places have no respect for customers these days so nice to see a site like this where there are lots of compliments too and hopefully the rude ones will get the message

This shop has a fabulous selection of really good quality toys - if you are sick of the target, disney path, this shop has a much better selection of quality toys that will last the distance, it also has great clothes for us mums - metalicus and there is a great toy room for your little ones to play while you browse!! Not to mention the mum spa day I spent there, I lost myself in decadence, I felt really spoilt.

I have been attending this great Day Spa, Hairdresser & Creche (all in one) for nearly 3 years now. Over that time the main reasons why I love it have not changed- it is a calm, clean, lovely decorated place with great products, excellent value packages, always quality masseurs & quality creche support for nearly no extra cost at all. The creche has just recently been extended with a whole new sunny room with adorable decorations & activities for the kids, even older ones.

I have much confidence in this business as I continue to pre-purchase their packages (eg. they offer great pre & post- pregnancy massage packages to help you budget and recover physically with regular mssages over an extended period). Once I had a look I worked out it was very affordable & allowed me to go there without stress as I dont have to deliberate over it each time I book (I just budget for it, pre-pay for a long period ahead, and gradually use up the bookings in my own time) and as they have such a lovely creche. I have also always had my hair foil coloured & cut there since I started going, and have always had a great colour and hair condition.

I am grateful to have a business like this around, it has helped me to cope with life at home with young kids, helped me to physically recover after pregnancy and gives me a regular break.

i booked in for a remedial massage with shirley and boy does she have a pair of amazing hands! i was very relaxed and comfortable with the treatment and really felt that she got into those knots and smoothed some kinks out. I felt even more special the next day! vichy shower afterwards really capped off the whole experience and I walked out of there like a stunned person i was so relaxed and happy.

Oh no... you're mistaken...it wasn't a guy...it was the fugly owner with a bad haircut with makes her look like a butch lesbian but sadly she's just a pathetic loser with a fast failing business.

COULD NOT HAVE PUT IT A BETTER WAY MYSELF!!

Nate 31 Jan 2010

After getting a phone call from a friend to say that there were some nasty comments on this web site that were about me (they were on the other Mumma Bubba page but have since been deleted) I thought I would set the record straight.
Firstly, my name is Nate and I was employed at MummaBubba Beauty Spa, Hair and Crèche for a period of time. I was NOT let go due to gross misconduct as the owner had apparently stated on this page but has since deleted the comment. I am currently NOT being investigated by the police for any reason at all as the owner had also stated. I RESIGNED from this establishment at the beginning of December for reasons I will not discuss. It had NOTHING at all to do with gross misconduct, being investigated by the police or not being able to fulfill my position fully. I would like to advise you that before I commenced working for Mumma Bubba, I was a personal assistant to a high profile Hollywood actress for the last five years and have dealt with some of the worlds most powerful agents, managers, lawyers and actors. If I was incapable of fulfilling my job then I would not have survived in that position at all.
Secondly, I, as Ms McLennan would know, that any comments made as the ones stated above by herself are considered defamation and would like to remind her of that.
Finally, this comment by joneh in Paddington, I would apologise to you if that was really the case but I know that this comment is a total fabrication.
I hope for the business and the staff members sake that the owner starts to focus on her business instead of wasting time intentionally trying to slander ex-employees to make herself look and feel better. I have moved on from the rather bizarre experience of the last few months and suggest you do too!

Bulk Packages are offered occasionally which offer great value. It's wonderful to have the support of the child care when you really need a break from "mothering"

I had my hair done with Bree and it is the best hair style I have ever had. She actually listened to what I wanted done and I am really happy. They were all really lovely and spent a lot of time making sure I was happy relaxed and full of relaxing tea. Lots of trashy magazines but also great fashion mags. I felt like I was the only one in the salon getting my hair done. BREE was amazing

I arrived early as my daughter was going to the childcare and the girl in childcare was great. She made me feel very confident to have her looking after her. I had a cup of tea in the waiting area and that was really lovely. My Beauty Therapist was really good, probably the best therapist I have ever had. I fell asleep.

This was the nicest time for me. I am a new Mum to twins and the whole MummaBubba experience was amazing. I was given a gift voucher by the my Mums group and really wish I had used it the first week I was home from Hospital. The massage was so good, very very nice for an exhausted new Mum. The girls were so lovely. You have got to go ... I also booked a hair appointment and cant wait to get my hair done next week

This was absolutely terrible, I arrived 15 minutes early as requested as a first time client, then when my actual treatment time came there was no one on reception so I waited 20 minutes before the manager and a beauty therapist came to the front of the salon - only when I approached them, concerned that I had not been collected did the owner/manager check the appointment and confirm I was expected. Then the attittude was quite diffident and instead of an apology and being whisked off to my treatment I was asked if I would still like to have the treatment, then when I, quite astonished, said yes and explained that I had arrived with plenty of time to spare - I was told quite sharply "to relax" and asked if I would like a cup of tea. I said that I had already had two cups of tea (I mean over half an hour had passed ) and then I was taken to a beauty therapist to get started.

The beauty therapist told me that I would have the full treatment time (but this actually did not transpire I had about two hours instead of two and a half). The wrap was fine and the Aveda products used were beautiful, although I question the qualifications of the young girl who applied it (perhaps a trainee?) but the massage (from a different therapist) was excellent, and I was prepared to put the unpleasantness behind me but then when I went to pay the owner/manager on reception made no mention or apology even though I did not receive my full treatment time, nor did she ask how my treatment was and was just interested in charging me and getting me out the door.

This business insists on taking your credit card details when you book so that they can secure the full fee should you cancel and then the level of treatment in my particular experience was appalling. So disappointing when this is a business in which people come to treat themselves and then get treated like that.

Approximate cost: $200.00

MummaBubba loves having you as a guest. The owner is rarely on the desk. We have a Spa co-ordinator and receptionist. We can assure you we try to offer the best service possible. If we know you are not coming we can always fill the spot with other Mums desperate to get in for a treatment. Recently we had to let someone go for very bad service to our guests and staff this person is the person making nasty comments. He continues to create bogus email addresses and post nasty comments after Management had to let him go. We look forward to seeing you very soon.

psychop 30 Jan 2010

Do you think Nate is the only person who disliked the way you handle business?

FelicityM 30 Jan 2010

MummaBubba is committed to providing the best experience possible. This site unfortunately provides a forum, for people who have a grudge to post remarks that are unfounded and untrue. Unfortunatley Nate has not been able to let go of being let go and continues to post nasty remarks. MummaBubba is a very successful business and continues to provide an amazing service to all of our guests. MummaBubba employs staff who have been with us for years and who genuinely care about you the guest. We look forward to seeing you very soon.

friendly staff, and very helpful. the massage was quite good, more of a relaxation than therapeutic, but very enjoyable all the same. very handy location, and they can look after your children if you need them to, which is great because sometimes it's hard to get a babysitter, or it may be a last minute decision.
