Great place for a special night out in Port. Location is gorgeous and the food delicious. Not really suitable for young kids though. Really busy for the grouper feeding.

Approximate cost: $20

On the Inlet was recommended to us by Apex Car Hire in Cairns. They told us that it was a nice place to go in the late afternoon/early evening to watch George the Grooper being fed along with good value bucket of prawns and a beer for $18. These guys didn't let us down... It was very busy and front row seating was at a premium - recommend getting there early. We had the bucket of prawns and some fish and chips from the bar menu. Both were very nice and great value for money. This restaurant is away from the others on the wharf at Port Douglas - but if you ask people will direct you. Well worth the vist.

Great spot to go and watch the sunset over the water in Port Douglas. They have happy hour every afternoon which includes a bucket of fresh prawns and a drink for $18.

On The Inlet prides itself on offering modern Australian Cuisine with a menu designed to showcase the freshest local seafood and best quality locally grown produce. We went at sunset and sat in the bar and enjoyed the views, a bucket of prawns with a nice cold beer (i had champagne) and watched as the huge 250kg George the Groper comes to visit for a feed. Very interesting. We enjoyed the place so much we visited three times during our 6 days in Port Douglas. Once for lunch, once for sunset drinks and once for dinner. Absolutely loved the atmosphere and the seafood. Great place!
