I am terribly disappointed with the poor after sales support service of optus. Firstly, you are charged for calling up their service hotline. Worse of all, once you finally get connected to their call center customer hotline, the call always get disconnected. Everytime you attempt to connect again, you get to talk to a different personnel who ask you the same questions so you tend to repeat everything you said previously which is quite tiring and irritating. Another blunder on their part is that they keep on sending me free optus sim which are defective since I cannot register it successfully online. They should not deceive people by advertising something that does not work. Its a waste of time and effort!

Optus has been a huge disappointment for me and my family. We have a 2 year wireless contract with them. After Optus asured me we will have fast internet in any location. About 6 months ago we moved house, as our rental contract was finished. In the new area we stay, the internet drops every few second, so we are constantly having to reconnect. The connection is also very slow, very frustrating.
I contacted their call center, and received the worst treatment ever, the operator screamed at me, and told me I was stupid, for believing that Optus would work in all areas. She told me it was the governments fault, and it is not their problem. She also said that it was not their problem that we moved. Well I did communicate to her that with wireless one would expect that you could access the Internet from various locations. She then further verbally abused me to the point that I started to cry, I then put the phone down.

Approximate cost: $50 a month

OK, let's be honest, I challenge you to find a telco that people don't whinge about. I've dealt with Telstra, Optus, Vodafone and 3 for mobiles and too many ISP's to name.
Out of the Big 3-4 Optus provide without doubt the best customer service in fixed and mobile products (as long as you are post paid (with your mobile) or on their cable network (for home phone and internet)).
They are neither cheap (like 3/Voda) or provide extensive coverage or speed (like Telstra), but do provide excellent service.
That is why I've been through numerous providers too and fro, I've always kept by Optus services active.

Optus called me in October last year to reevaluate my plans. I had a new phone already and my plan was fine as it was so the operator offered my an additional $60 call credit on top of my cap, saying it was to start the following bill. THREE bills later and the credit had not been applied (despite an sms saying that it had- I used part of the credit assuming I had it to use - NO I have had to pay for those calls because apparently it takes SUCH A LONG TIME to process - for crying out loud - with today's technology? Trying to explain that I was not going to pay for something they GAVE me, that I didn't ask for to the 25 various Indian operators got me NO WHERE so I eventually got fed up and paid. I also found out that if (assuming the credit had been applied correctly) I had called $61 over my normal cap I would have had to pay the whole lot on top! CAN YOU IMAGINE!?

Approximate cost: $Time and Money.

I have been an optus customer for 12 years and that seems to count for nothing. They continually stuff up my bills and over charge me, increase charges without consultation and ill-advise me.

Had been with optus for 11 years. They decided to up my line rental to some ridiculous amount and then when I asked if there was anything they could do to reduce it, without even consulting with me, put me through to the sales rep and told him that I wanted to be part of some fusion plan which linked phone, internet and mobile phone. After telling them that I was not interested, got put back to someone else. Honestly, the amount of fluffing around that I had to do to get someone who would actually listen to me was just not worth it. Have switched to internode for our phone calls and surprise surprise, no hassles, no late night telemarketers and our phone bill has come down.

few years back lived in sydney i had all my telephones/mobiles with optus and found them really reliable good price good service and great phones and rates would reccomend to anyone!

My comments are in relation to the service i have recently received from Optus. I have no problems with the value for money or the quality of the product. Recent interactions in relation to my account have left me a little disapointed, the waiting time and constate being changed from operator to operator to see if anyone has a clue on how to assist me really got on my nerves.

I completely agree! The product and prices are great but the service is slow and unforgiving!

We have been with optus for a number of years but have recently been really disappointed in their service since moving house.

They have messed up a number of our bills and in the process of trying to rectify, they have put us on new contracts which we did not agree to. Then having to cancel those with more fees attached that we have to get refunded.

Most of the time they have not been honest or up front - blatantly lying to us. When refunding money, they do not refund the GST which they have charged you in the first instance - another phone call then has to be made.

Watch out for the over seas call centers, they seem to be worse.

I have been frustrated with optus for many years now. Whenever I phone them I am usually on hold for at least 20 minutes and they have consistently made errors with my account details and what I have asked them to do. I tried to "bundle" my services last year and it was a nightmare and in the end they couldn't do it as the account names were not exactly the same so I had to disconnect, change to telstra and then re connect with optus- It was ridiculous and in the end I still have'nt got the bundle discount! I am only staying with them as Telstra have provided even worse service!
