Unfortunately I'm always disappointed when I go to Oscars- the coffee is always bad and considering how many they make you'd think they would better!

Good meals and nice friendly environment. Have been here quite a few times for work functions and going away dinners and have been satisfied every time. Wish they could have a little more variety on the menu but all in all its a good place to come for a pretty decent meal.

Approximate cost: $20

food was cooked nicely and presented well. i could ask that the staff have a more friendlier and smiling view when dealing with the customers.

Oscars is pretty good. Decent food, good service, nice surroundings. I would recommend going to oscars for a lunch, dinner or just a snack. I've never stayed at the accomadation part, but meal-wise its excellent.

Oscars has some lovely cakes and some nice meals. Has a great spacious function room. Have visited a few times mostly with groups of people so the meals can take a little while to be served.

I have been to Oscar's a few times and have found the food to be quite nice. The drinks (Hot Chocolate, Coffee) can be a bit weak though. The only issue I have is the staff aren't very friendly & they do not wait on your table at all which I find to be quite lacking. I definitely would go back for the food again though. Recommend the toasted chicken sandwhich!

Unfortunately I know this business quite well. I used to work there a little while ago and the working conditions are as bad as the food. I have also eaten there after i stopped working there and it was no better. The owners are very greedy people who put the needs of the customer AFTER the needs of lining their own pockets with cash. the food is basically overpriced (BAD) pub food in a well dressed setting. In my opinion the accommodation is not even 2 stars worth. I understand the employees are not to blame here but the owners should be run out of business. Ballarat does not need this sort of establishment as there are others of better quality and value. I recommend Gee Cee's over Oscars any day of the week

Approximate cost: $30-$45

When I pay this sort of price I expect a decent meal. My hamburger had cold, unmelted cheese and the salad on the side was gritty and badly washed. My husband's meal took ages to come and was cold by the time it did. Then, to top it off, the coffee was weak and tepid. The staff really need some training.

For a large hotel/restaurant our visit here today was absolutely terrible. While staff were organising a table for us, a larger group of customers who had already eaten decided to switch tables from under the marquee to out in the sun. The waitress allowed them go ahead with their move, which meant shoving us on the already soiled/used table they had come from with all their used cups, cutlery, napkins etc sitting in front of us. After some time organising the table switch, our table was cleared and we were given our menus. Two of us went to order the drinks and food at the bar and were appalled to have to wait at the bar to bring the drinks back to our table ourselves. Considering the prices of both drinks and food on the menu, to not even get table service is pretty ordinary - this is not a small place, we expected more. Our $8.50 wedges and $13.50 vegie pizza were delivered and I have to say the wedges were the WORST in quality and value I have EVER come across. The bowl was tiny (regular chips at half the price were a bigger serving as seen on a table across from us) and the wedges were soggy and flavourless. The pizza was ok, a bit oily, but adequate. Under the marquee was extremely noisy. This whole experience was not a good one and we won't go back. In comparison to other local venues such as Gee Cee's and Assunta's this place had nothing at all going for it from this visit and I would reccommend elsewhere. Cake choices were also limited and no competition to other venues as mentioned above.
