Don’t get a animal from here

Whatever you do make sure you get all the information on the dog that you adopt. I adopted a puppy last year & I’ve noticed that they never removed her dew claws and her front paws go outwards, today at her 1 year vaccination appointment the vet said that it is a deformity & there is nothing they can really do now, if she was younger she could of had a operation, now she will have arthritis when she is older.

They could of removed her dew claws and straightened her legs when she was in their care, I wasn’t impressed at the start, I messaged and I paid a deposit as I was told they’d only hold her for about 2 hrs and because I live in Ballarat I had to come the next day, straight after I paid the deposit she was advertised on this page.

The next day comes and I drive to Woodland to then be told she’s actually at the vet one so then I have to drive even longer, to then find out she hadn’t been desexed, so then I had to chase them up to come get her to desex her, I was told she’d be dropped back home but after I heard nothing the next day I had to drive to get her. On top of that they way Star (now Lexi) reacted to the guy that came to get her you can tell that he didn’t treat her right as she hasn’t snapped at anyone since.

I can see why this place is under investigation.

I wasn’t going to write anything but you can’t leave reviews on their Facebook page and I’m not getting responses via email or inbox.

Just be careful if you are looking for a puppy.

I adopted my cat from Woodend animal shelter. All the cats were happy there. The guy who was working there on the day I adopted my cat was absolutely lovely. He was an animal.al lover and was looking after the animals brilliantly. My cat is a very happy cat. They're doing a wonderful job.

I would not recommend this business. The woman who served me really didn't want to be there.
The cat I bought was infestated with ear mites and had the cat flu. I took her to a vet who I had to pay for treatment. I am still trying to rid the ear mites one month later.

Examination Summary
Today I examined this patient
- she was found to have Cat flu and a severe infestation of ear mites in both ears
- she is also underweight for her age
Sarah informed me that the cat was purchased from Pets Haven on the 29 Dec 18. 10 days ago.
As the incubation period for cat flu is between 2 and 10 days I suspect that she was infected at Pets Haven.
Also as the lifecycle of ear mites is 21 days from eggs to adults she was DEFINITELY infected with ear mites at the time of leaving Pets Haven.
As such Pets haven should honour their Health Care policy of paying for any treatment required if the pet is sick in the 10 days post purchase of the
pet.
Any questions please call

I adopted my Jack Russell from Pet haven Woodend. It was strange that their Vet was at Bayswater however I got very caring service from them Trish is like High Wirth...abrupt and short with people; but that's how God made her....look past that and you'll find that she is very caring and only wishes the best for animals....a truely genuine lady....

karar858 19 Mar 2019

the owner of this business has 0 people skills she is rude and abrupt and is clueless about the duty of care she is responsible for if the pets she takes into her care my kitten died after 3 days in my care then she blamed the toxins in my home

We traveled to Woodend on Sunday to view the puppies advertised. There were a lot of people at the front door. A staff member popped her head out the door and said the puppies are at Bayswater. But they were still advertised at Woodend?
Then she said there are already a lot of people at Bayswater to she the puppies.
How did they know the puppies were at Bayswater?
Very suspect!

Definitely pro life. But questionable practice in other aspects. Be sure that what you are after is actually available. Drove for 2 hours to Woodend after we were assured that there were 3 dogs available for us to view. Got there only to be told they were all sold. All sold in 2 hours? And then we were immediately directed to other dogs which were available. I don't believe for a minute that the dogs we went to see were actually available. Won't be driving there again.

The staff were rude and uncaring, service was poor and wont get an animal from there again. After buying an 8 week old puppy it only took a day or so to see something wasn't right. Turned out it had parvo and now we have 3 kids who have broken hearts. A little kindness and caring wouldn't have gone astray in tough times.

We understand that the intention of this organisation is honourable, however our experience with them has been less than satisfactory, to say the least. We enquired about a dog that we really liked the look/sound of two nights ago and received an email back to say it was available. We phoned the following day and were told he was still available. When we said we would pick him up in the morning, they said they would 'put a hold' on him for us and to phone at 10am to give them an ETA. We were so excited! We live on the Mornington Peninsula and got up early to get there as close to 10am as possible, phoned at 10 (no answer) then at 10.02 (the phone was busy). I phoned three times in quick succession (busy) and finally got on to someone at 10.05. We were, by then, at Woodend. We were told someone else had phoned at 10am exactly and was coming to pick up the dog. When we turned up, we were told that there had been a third person who had also travelled a long way to buy the same dog and had also missed out. It would seem that their processing system is in shambles and they admitted they needed to make changes so this didn't happen again. We certainly would not deal with them again or advise anyone else to do so.

At first glance this business appears wonderful, my partner and I were very
excited to adopt a dog from here. Unfortunately the shine wore off very
fast for us though. We were told at time of purchase that we were welcome
to return the dog at any time, but we were NOT told at any point during the
transaction that we were obliged to bring the dog back, or that she
remained the property of Pet's Haven. We WERE told that she was a beautiful
dog that deserved to be in a loving home rather than in a cage (which she
most certainly is!), having been transferred into the center that day from
her time in foster care to be left there until a home was found for her. We
were at no time asked any questions to vet us, we were NEVER told we were
obligated to return the dog, or that the dog remained the legal property of
Pet's Haven either verbally or via contract.

Approximately a week and a half after bringing her home, we began to
realize that she was not ideally suited to our home, but we were happy to
keep her in our care until we found her a loving home with the right
people. We decided to advertise her on a well known forum rather than
returning her to a cage, as it was our understanding that since she had
already been through her foster care she would be caged again until
re-sold. This was when things began to get sour.

We care for this dog. We decided NOT to take her back to the rescue center
because of this. My partner and I made a decision to keep her with us where
we could provide her with space, love, attention, obedience training,
socialization, good quality food, and where we could meet and have her meet
her potential new owners on her own turf.

Within hours of our advertisement being posted we began to receive messages
via sms and email. The ad was flagged, we had to re-post it. Within days
the messages started getting more frequent and more threatening. We began
to get demands to return "their property". My partner was emailed with
demands naming his place of work. I was told if I didn't return "their dog"
I would be reported to the police for theft. I was abused so loudly over
the phone my customers at work heard the Pet's Haven employee on my mobile
in the next room. It never seems to end.

All of this because we tried to do the right thing and keep the dog OUT of
a cage! We care about this animal. We PAID for this animal. We have
receipts and bank statements and contracts showing proof of ownership of
this dog, and yet we are constantly being harassed, abused, yelled at,
emailed, texted, threatened with social media flooding, and told we'll be
reported and charged with theft purely because we wanted to give this dog
the home she needs and deserves. It's heart breaking, and it makes me never
want to rescue another dog again... probably not an issue since they have
told me my partner and I will be blacklisted from all Victorian rescue
agencies.

Really? You bag an animal shelter for caring too much about an animal?
ANY group would not want their dog, that they KNOW and have put love and care into rescuing, put up on Gumtree.
Pity people cannot leave reviews for individuals. You clearly have some mental issues. I mean, just for starters how can you claim to love a dog, you are selling on Gumtree? You also lied when you were INTERVIEWED and several questions were asked, including if you have another dog.

Seriously...you need professional help. This is an honest review on you and your above rant.

Pets Haven is fantastic. I adopted my puppy from here a year ago. His mum was rescued while she was pregnant with his litter. He is such a well adjusted dog and I am sure that part of this is due to the amazing care that he received in his foster home. I was given all records of his vaccinations etc and when my vet looked at the records, she was surprised that such high quality vaccinations had been given as shelters can't always afford the more expensive medications. They did a great job with everything and I would highly recommend them.

The staff here are lovely and truly care for all the animals in their care, including my two fluffballs! As they were young they were kept offsite at a ladies home who looked after them until they were old enough for adoption. She cared for them like her own kids.

Pet's Haven provide a great service by taking in stray animals and rehoming them with loving caring families that have to be approved first. They are a not for profit organisation so rely on donations and volunteer support to maintain their services. They are a no kill shelter meaning that they do not just euthanise any unwanted animals but find them homes.

I adopted a cat in late 2011 from Pet's Haven & couldn't be happier. I love the work this organisation does. It felt really good re-homing an abandoned animal rather than me going to a pet shop to buy one. It breaks my heart knowing that if my gorgeous cat wasn't taken in by Pet's Haven, but was handed to a pound she probably wouldn't be around today.

I recently fostered and then adopted a 7 year old cat (Chanel) from Pet's Haven. Couldn't be happier - staff we're extremely helpful & pleasant. From what I saw the numerous times I visited, they were all very attentive to their animal's needs & genuinely care about their wellbeing.

Would recommend this shelter to everyone - I have had such a terrific experience with Pets Haven from start to finish.

Pets Haven is awesome! I love them they are all so nice there and the animals are well cared for by staff and volunteers. I have adopted a dog from them an 8 week old puppy at that (You CAN get puppies from shelters) he is a lovely dog and their vets took great care of him as he had to have an extra operation additional to his de-sexing. I am a foster carer for them and love doing so and I recommend Pets Haven to all my friends and family :)

We recently got our second dog from here and could not be happier. Staff spent time ensuring that the my current dog and potential new dog interacted appropriately and taught us what to look out for to ensure they are likely to get along well. The dog we wanted to look at was not in the shelter but in foster care and the foster carer brought the dog down at a time that suited us.

Copies of vet work done to date was faxed through as we waited to finalise the adoption. I'm very happy with the service I received and our dogs are very happy.

I'm not sure how they can make any money as the cost covers vaccination, desexing, microchipping and feed until they find a home. Much cheaper than going to a vet to get all of that done!

The Pet's Haven staff and volunteers always go above and beyond the call of duty to help out our furry friends. I can't speak highly enough of them.
The Shelter is always clean, the animals well cared for.
I would love to take all the kitties home, but we have limited ourselves to just three from Pet's Haven. I totally adore them. Thank you Pet's Haven for bringing Mr.Bear, Max and Benji into our lives.
Thank you too for the wonderful care of Tiffany and Mario. :-)

I would highly recommend getting a cat or dog from here as you will find the perfect family pet.

Pet's Haven is a wonderful place to be. Anybody considering having a pet MUST go down, email, or ring up Pet's Haven and find out what they are all about. Animal adoption is extremely important because there are many unwanted animals left in the pound, due to their owner's giving them up. Pet's Haven is a terrific organisation that rescues animals from the pound and rehomes them. Their staff have great knowledge to assist you in making your decision. There are great benefits from adopting animals from places like Pet's Haven-Adopted animals will love and cherish you forever, but what's more they will try extra hard to please you because you are giving them a second chance at life. You can also ask them about becoming a foster to animals who are looking for permanent homes.

I could not agree more. Pets Haven is a fantastic organization. We adopted our family cat from them only 2 weeks ago after I came up to have a look & volunteered to walk the dogs. If anybody wants a new furkid to add to their family, Pets Haven is the place to go:) Look up their website & their Facebook Fan Page. Go Pets Haven:)
