A GREAT CUTTER I HAD A CUT THAT WAS 100 OUT OF 100

Decided to give this salon a try after reading good reviews. I wanted a cut and colour. The cut I received was only a quick straight trim of the bottom 1cm of my hair to even it out. I assumed Philip was going to go in with the rest of the cutting after (given my hair was long, heavy and in need of a good cut). I thought he would discuss with me what style I would like but no, that was my 'cut' done and we were moving straight onto colour. I told him I liked blonde and brown colours as they were more natural for me. He told me he had a yin and yang style he used that would be multidimensional and would be using a tint, blonde and warm mahogany colours on me. The streaks he applied by brush freehand were super thick, uneven and the colours were Pamela Anderson yellow blonde with fluro pink chunky streaks. It was hideous. They were not at all natural looking and I looked ridiculous. I told him it was too blonde and I didn't like the pink. He assured me the pink would wash out in a few washes (it didn't), and he attempted to warm it up with some brown tints but it didn't fix it. Over $200 later and I went straight home to put a packet brown over the top of it all because I was so embarrassed. Lovely man but terrible hairdresser and I will not be going back.

Approximate cost: $200

Overall a lovely experience. Having a private salon away from the noise and chaos of a typical hair appointment was super refreshing. Phillip is a true professional and an expert at his craft. He listened to my hair goals and what I needed for my lifestyle, gave me a style cut to suit. No up-selling of product and no complex styling routine that I can't replicate at home. Thank you Phillip and Dinah for being there and being friendly to a Stranger

If I could give no stars I would, this man needs putting out of business? I went there in good faith and got a supposed trim he chopped into my hair like a mad man & left my hair a mess with lop sided parts uneven parts a real mess I'm going to consumer affairs over him he needs to be stopped?

Approximate cost: $50

I simply do not believe this review. Phil is my friend, he is an excellent barber, and no way does he charge anywhere near $50.
The reviewer has only made one review here. I have less than 80% trust in her!

Thinking I made it up says more about you than me, I have over 2000 reviews on google & trip advisor & put this in as many peoples eyes as possible, I make no apologies. He did a bad job simple.

dinahm227 20 Apr 2021

Well fair enough, sorry to doubt you. Did you go back and explain why you weren't happy? I am sure Phil would be mortified and do everything in his power to sort things out to your satisfaction. Have a good hair day, lol!

This is an excellent salon, the stylists here go that extra mile, they always welcome you, with a wonderful plate of goodies, Tea severed in a teapot china cup & saucer, and goodies of snacks, if you are having a long service like a perm, Ying Yang, foils, etc, book in and tell them you would like a sandwich, they serve ham, lettuce, or cheese, or lettuce, cucumber, so book it in its free.
What I love about Phillip Michael's was I booked up the Rolls Royce Service For my mum birthday treat It cost $370 but I book 2 of mum friends to join her, the packaged is cool you cn spend the full 370 on yourself or split it 2 or 3 ways
mum loved the English high tea, It came with a bottle of white/ red wine as much tea or coffee as you liked
smoke salmon cucumber sandwiches petit 4 cakes fresh cream sconce with cream and jam side order of potatoes crisp flavour plain
Phillip Michael's is the hairdresser who will do your hair, what mum loved was he from England and he did princess Diana hair in Motcomb Street Belgravia

Approximate cost: $390

I Bowl to this man
Phillip Michael's of Mayfair
I'm ALWAYS a little nervous about a) trying new places and b) changing my hair completely... but phillip helped ease both of those nerves. I had been scoping out the yelp reviews for the past few days trying to figure out where I could go change up my hair style for the summer during my lunch break. I settled on Phillip Michael's in Molesworth street Lismore due to the reviews, price, location, and that they allowed walks-ins.

As soon as I arrived, the receptionist greeted me with a smile, and introduced me to Phillip who would be cutting my hair. While I waited Phillip started to chat to me, we spoke about what I did for work, we spoke about my views, my goals, my hair, my dress sense, I showed him a picture of what I wanted, and he played around with my hair asking further questions on what I wanted.

Once the shampoo station was open [only waited a couple minutes] we proceeded to wash/shampoo/quick head massage/ and condition my hair. This is always one of my favorite parts, and its included in the overall price [$150].

Then it was to the cutting chair.... phillip proceed to get right in and started, and instead of just going too short right off, would ask every few inches to make sure it was the length I wanted, or if I wanted it shorter... I was cutting off 5+ inches, so this was reassuring. My main concern was being able to still pull my hair into a pony tail, another detail he continued to check throughout the haircut. [I was having cut/style in a long bob, like Jennifer Aniston's recent cut]

One major detail I loved is that he really looked at the style I was going for, down to the edges of my hair. he used the razor cutter to get the edges just right, and added some volume to my pretty thin hair, which I loved.

Once the cut was complete he styled it exactly like the picture, leaving me completely satisfied and happy.

Going from LONG hair to a SHORT hair style, let alone a style I've never had, I was ecstatic with the results and will definitely return for future hair-cuts.

Approximate cost: $150

I arrived half an hour early..most salons get a bit funny. This salon did not. I sat down to work through some work emails (as I’d planned on doing). I was offered drinks twice (bonus points here). Phillip Michael's was busy with a customer so I sat in the massive throne by the door (very comfy) but once he had finished he came over and introduced himself. We sat down, phillip asked what I wanted and I showed some photographs of a bob. Phillip looked at the photo's with a slight warming tone put me at ease straight away. That makes a lot of difference to getting your hair done. I’ve been to loads of places where the stylists have injokes with each other and just make you feel very uncomfy. Not at this salon! I was taken to Phillip styling section where Phillip started cutting my hair dry, I was explained every step he took and he fully explained why he cut my hair in so many directions, I never knew that every strain of hair grew different ways after the dry cut i had the best hairwash I have ever had . The blowdry and straightening is one of the most efficient I’ve ever had. My hair is curly and my hair has never been poker straight so fast. The salon was super clean and hair was being swept as soon as it was cut. The mood in the salon was fun and the price was very very reasonable. Phillip is as close to a perfect stylist as I have met. Warming, welcoming and very efficient. I love my new hair and I will definitely be back! cost me $160.00

Okay. Had to take a deep breath before writing this because you're about to witness a miracle Phillip Michael's is a God He is a hairdresser Magic, He saved me,

I called a whole bunch of salons in the Lismorel area because I did not want to venture far (I'm sort of lazy). I even walked into one will remain unnamed. They looked at me and then my hair and automatically said "no". Who could blame them, right? It looked like I stuck my hair in a deep fryer. I'm not even kidding, I was borderline depressed and was crying every 15 minutes.

Let me make this debacle of a hair story short and I'll get right into how Phillip Michael's took care of me (sorry if I butchered your names here). My hair was bleached probably more than 6 times and toned more than 5 times all within a month. When I say that it was breaking off at just me sneezing, I'm dead serious. I was going from naturally dark almost black hair to white blonde unsuccessfully. I basically compromised the life out of my hair. It wouldn't even move with the wind. It was frail, stiff, breaking close to the root, tangled, fried, and the ugliest color ever. I finally took matters into my own hands and dyed it a reddish brown which left it a nice blonde color.

To tried everything to rehab my hair. I wrapped it in olive oil, coconut oil, I slept in it, I used aphogee protein two step treatment, I used redken's extreme shampoo and conditioner, I used it's a 10 leave in conditioner and their keratin hair mask! I used bought Schwarzkopf bonding shampoo and their bonding potion and mask. The list goes on. I probably spent two grand alone.

It was STILL effed up. I decided to give up completely and thought about shaving my head. I had already cut 5-6 inches off. I finally called Phillip Michael's Hair Salon i put me in touch with Phillip who laid out my options and gave me hope. I made an appointment to see him that very same day. They did not judge me. He examined my hair very closely and recommended the Cashmere Keratin Treatment.

Bill gave me the absolute best hair wash I've ever received at a salon. he was very thorough and gave the best head massage.

Phillip Michael's convened. phillip applied the keratin and bill blow dried my hair and flat ironed it. he was so friendly and sweet! Everyone was. They made me feel so special.

I definitely DEFINITELY recommend this salon if you're looking to rehab your hair. These people are so talented. I am happy to say that I've found my "go to" here in Lismore after having lived here for 5 years.

Thank you Bill & Phillip
Oh forgot Summer I love you, you made me smile I love doggies and summer is my bbf, she sat with me throughout the whole time I had my hair done and gave me kisses as well, she knew when I was upset and she didn't judge me either, she just sat there letting me stroke her as she knew I was sad, now I am happy the whole thing cost me $400.00 took 4 hours but it was worth every cent as it saved my hair,

Approximate cost: $400
