The fruit and vegie market is great. The meat and fish market can be a bad experience with some really bad products. You really have to know who you are buying from. The meat when it is on special is best left at the market. I have bought steak there a lot and from sulphure dioxide test kit there appears to be widespread use of this illegal chemical on the meat sold there. Especially on steaks like rump steak. I would not trust the meat bought at preston market. Yes, there is good beef and mince there if you know what you buying. Be very careful of any meat that is pre-packaged. I bought meat there once that was warm!! like it was sitting for days wrapped in glad wrap. Buying mince there can also be a dodgie experience. I know my meats and this market is the worst for terrible meat. The same goes for buying prawns and fish. I frequently by blue grenadier and its frequently off or rubbery. I now very wary of markets that are open only on certain days, meaning they dont have the freshest product. Terrible for meat and fish.

go here often to see if there is any good cheap fruit and veggies,, some time there is a bargain, but not always, and the fruit and veggies don't always look fresh which is a bit disappointing.

ALDI at PRESTON MARKET

It's conveniently located and has the usual Aldi value but the service is atrocious! When ever you are there (not matter what day of the week), there is always a massive line at the checkout and only ever one maybe two checkouts open. The ladies at the counters do their best to try and keep up the pace so this is not necessarily their fault. Meanwhile, there is always some other employee stuffing around down the back when they can easily see that they are needed up the front. I have even watched one of the checkout ladies, on a very busy occasion, remind the manager (what I believe to be the manager, or at least the 2IC) that he was supposed to get her changed and he just ignored her and kept stuffing around! They always seem unhappy at this store and after watching the way the the senior staff behaves I can understand why.

Preston Aldi ONLY gets 4 stars for value because they are an Aldi store. I recommend going further up plenty rd to the Bundoora Aldi, it is much much better.

its a great place to shop for fresh produce as the prices are much lower than supermarkets

I have no particular interest in the clothing or other items so I just skip that area and concentrate on the food area

usually i go on a saturday and its quite busy and often very bothersome to find a parking space

my tip is go early saturday morning when its not so busy

I love going to Preston Market, it has a nice variety of products and fresh food for everyone to enjoy. The take away shops there provide the best take away food that is healthier than most. It brings together the Preston community.

I'm a big fan of the Preston Markets. It has great fresh fruit and veg, but the highlight would for me would be its selection of seafood and other assorted meats. It also has a few clothes, toys, household, coffee, etc type shops. Check it out, I doubt if you will be disappointed!

When ever I'm in Melbourne I seem to visit the Preston market. Not that I'm making big purchases, but rather for the food. Plenty of hot and fresh food to choose. I didn't have too much of luck with the sushi, but there's this one shop (the name escapes my mind, I'll do an update on my next visit) they do lasagne, I think they were about 3 or 3.50. EXTREMELY HOT, but taste so darn good. the four of us were burning our mouths but wouldn't have it any other way.

I'd stay away from cheap products. didn't really like the qualities of their physical goods.

Sometimes you get 'charity org' people stopping you to 'talk to you' esp during the weekends. That gets pretty annoying.

I suggest you go and experience the market. Free parking on the weekends (NOT ON THE WEEKDAYS, we figured that out the hard way).

I love the Preston Market! In comparison to other fresh food markets, the quality of fruit, veg & meat is above average. By shopping here I save hundreds of dollars each year!

The quality of the product offered at most of the shops is fine and comparable to other outlets. The people involved with the stalls are usually good, the problem is with the market itself. Parking is a problem and has been since the Centrelink office opened nearby. The parking meters hekp keep all day parkers forom the station away, but it annoys me to see people from centrelink come and move their cars so they dont have to pay to park and remain within the free time. The ground in and around the market has unsafe spots where people including me have tripped. the cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired. management is aware of the complains and say... "they cannot do anything"
