As I have other insurances through racv they offered me this assistance at a bargain price, $80 annual, and having a pre2000 car once a year I need assistance, I.e run out of fuel, lock keys in car, they quoted time is always within as theirs always a van in the area, the driver offered me lift home and tow when he couldn't figure out the issue 2 jerry cans later, was just flooded and needed time but driver made sure I was looked after, above and beyond, and it helps if you are already at a shop broken down their lunch break doubles as assistance so they get thir faster, funny guys, did not make me feel like a true blonde at all

Approximate cost: $80

This Total Care is brilliant! Best money I've ever spent as I've had to call them a few times for tow trucks, flat battery, keys. They even pay for taxi to and from mechanic!

Would highly recommend.

I'm not in any way associated with RACV by the way.

Approximate cost: $200

today my husband had a flat battery. We called the racv, and i am not kidding they were here under 5 minutes. The problem was fixed under 10 minutes. The whole scenario from the call to being fixed was 15 minutes. In fact i would call this faultless service, i will make sure we continue every year to be a member

had to call for their help a few times and it took them on average 1.5 hours to arrive, the service was good through, once they had to tow our car and gave us a ride home. only bad experience was the battery guy who didn't change our battery properly, it got loose the second day, lucky me, it happened when I was waiting at the lights, not on the highway...

I have had to call the RACV a number of times over the past 15 years and only once have I had poor service - the older RACV mechanic was very condescending to me, being a woman he obviously didn't think I knew a thing about how my car had been running, despite driving it for 12 years! Every other experience with RACV has been fantastic though and the mechanics and tow truck driver have been very friendly and helpful. Such a comfort knowing I can call them at anytime if my car breaks down.

i feel really safe knowing that i can call them up to help me out. i had to have them swap a flat tyre off my car and they arrived so quickly! they talked me through everything - as a person whose not very car literate! - and it didn't cost me a thing because i was registered with them.

I've never had a problem with these guys. I had to use them this weekend for a flat battery and the guy was pleasant and helpful. A small issue was that I am currently living 100 metres on the wrong side of the line that separates city from country so he couldn't help with replacing the battery.

Have had three experiences RACV in the past five years and they have all been unpleasant. First four years ago the car just stopped and when they arrived the mechanic did not seem to know what he was doing and his reply was that he had to attend another job and would be back later. When he arrived back later he could not get the car going so he arranged a tow for it to the workshop only to find out that the coil was faulty.
Second: the keys were locked in the car and it took them two hours to to arrive and his excuse was he was on another job (understandable) but then he added he had to go and have lunch as the he considered my job not important, it took less than a minute to open the car door to retreive the keys.
Thirdly when my battery went flat and after contacting them and due to a communication error I was informed that I would have to pay $280:00 to rejoin as I had reported a so called reoccurring problem and that they do not offer any discount or compensation for pensioners. The battery was taken away by a local business to be recharged whilst I had a loan of a battery, the cost no charge.

On a recent trip to Queensland, we had the misfortune to breakdown near Young in central new south wales. After the initial panic, we made one call to RACV who contacted NRMA who arranged everything including a tow of the car to YOung and emergency accomodation. The RACV were outstanding and certainly worth the $$ to be in total care.
