I have had good experience with Red Energy. I've been their customer since 2012 for both electricity and gas. I find their price competitive, customer service responsive and new connection service is prompt. I have nothing to complain.

Don't bother with this company , they are dishonest. They advertise low unit rates on their website but they charge you different much higher rates on your bill.
When I called to discuss their reply was " we charge different rates for different customers" ! How convenient, I would call it cheating.
I would give them below zero if I could.

Red energy is a terrible option. I personally used to work there and observed what happened behind the scenes. Whenever prices would change customers were sent letters last minute. They also have minimal training for staff so majority of the time the guys on the phone just guess what the issue could be. Worst of all they just Purchased Lumo whom is not an Australian operated company. Would definitely not go with these guys...maybe try Momentum or another small but good company.

We signed up with them, promised that their rates were reasonable and with a booklet full of vouchers. We are committed to a 2 year contract and will probably switch because we've recently realised they have longer peak hours than other energy companies.

If you're thinking of going with them for a new connection, DON'T BOTHER!
I am now without power or gas for the 3 days because the company simply refuses to put in another request for connection to the power supplier. This is after the power supplier told me that it is possible, that it just needs Red to submit the request as it is unable to accept an individual's request. But Red kept insisting that I left the power switch on causing the initial connection to fail, and refused to submit the request, leaving me without utility connection in this cold and wet wintry weather for the whole weekend.
This is despite both the property manager and I having gone into the property separately to determine that the power switch has been turned OFF!
Red is unhelpful and unsympathetic to their customer's needs/plight. So look elsewhere for your utilities.

I switched to about Red three years ago and compared to my previous supplier, they are fantastic. Not only do they offer cheap rates, but the 10% pay-on-time discount can be a significant bonus if you are a large house-hold. I strongly recommend Red to anyone considering changing energy suppliers.

Approximate cost: $150.00

OK, as an energy supplier they are fine, infact pretty good..

But trying to send them documents is a waste of time. I had solar installed a few months ago and you have to send three documents to them.. The only ways to do so are via fax or email..

So the installer and I have both been trying to email the documents for the past month to three different emails they have given us. They keep just claiming they have never received them, though neither of us have ever got an undelivered bounce back..

Then I tried to fax them, the installer said not to bother, and now I understand why.. I can fax through a cover sheet with half a page of text but anything longer (like the actual forms I need to send) I just get a comm error back from their fax service and I can't get through to them, I left it re-trying for hours, wasting plenty of phone calls but it never got through. Again I have tried multiple fax machines with the same outcome (but can fax the documents elesewhere without issue)..

I have complained and they got back to me initially asking for more details but then stopped responding..

Moving back to AGL tonight..

As I said they were fine until I tried to get them to accept some additional documents for my solar and then they are just a nightmare...

Well I finally got through to them and now they want to charge me $400 to remotely reprogram my smart meter.. I asked why and they said they had to send a truck out as the smart meters don't always work remotely, want that the whole point of them?

My installer said this is untrue but who knows?

Red Energy is my electricity supplier they are an Aussie owned company that uses green energy from the Snowy river hydro electric scheme on every bill also I get a pay on time discount off every bill of 10% and I get the little red rewards book which they do in partnership with the entertainment book. Their customer service is brilliant and located in Richmond OZ!!

We've recently switched to Red Energy and found our bills to have drastically reduced in price and I'm impressed with their customer service. Last week I couldn't get through on their phone service to pay our bill - they were having problems, so I sent an email to the general enquiries address and someone actually rang back! They gave us our discount for paying on time, even though we'd passed the date, because we had been having trouble getting through. That's service!
