The River Tea House in Lorne is a delightful place to relax and either read or chat with friends.

When I first saw the River Tea House I was immediately intrigued and draw to it. It had a very inviting and interesting vibe to it that made me eager to see try it. And I wasn't disappointed.
They have an entire wall full of of their range of teas. I, myself, have a preference for black teas particularly Earl Grey and they gave me one of the best Earl Grey tea I have ever had! My partner and in-laws said that the coffee was very good too.
They also do some nice food. I highly recommend their scones with jam and cream; a nice, slightly moist scone with a delicious heavy cream and fresh raspberry jam....mmmmmmmmm....now I want one. There is also your standard breakfast and lunch dishes available, all that I have tried has been good but I am still to try everything.

They are also happy for you to bring your dog (outside of course) and will usually bring you a container of water for them too ...and sometimes even sneak them some treats.

I try to find excuses to get to Lorne so that I can visit the tea house; a wonderful oasis where you feel like you are in another world just watching the real one go by.

Approximate cost: $15

My husband and I called into this cafe on weekend morning for tea and scones and were impressed.

Its a lovely cafe with a good range of drinks and sweets.

We will go back again on our next trip to Great Ocean Road.

We stopped here during our weekend away along the Great Ocean Road, needing a cup of tea along the way. It is a quaint cozy little cafe, an authentically original stopover along the tourist trail. The exterior of the cafe looks very homey and comfy, with its wicker furniture and overhanging greenery.
If they're busy the order may take a little time but it is well worth the wait. They have over 60 varieties of tea (I lost count). We sat inside at this really rustic looking table and were served our tea in pretty china. The Rooibos Chai I ordered was simply divine, and one of the best cuppas I've ever had. BF had a regular black tea but he agreed the Rooibos Chai was really good, and he is not normally a big fan of Rooibos.
They serve home baked treats like scones and gourmet cakes too, and several types of hot chocolate. Adjoining the main area is a section filled with curios and knick-knacks, which looked a bit on the expensive side but feel free to have a wander. You can see some of these items on their website.
The culinary highlight of our trip, and I'm hanging out for my next visit. Can't recommend highly enough!

Approximate cost: $4 tea

Hi Champagne, this sounds like a delightful little cafe and (thanks to your review) we look forward to checking it out when we are next in the area. Regards, Reeces

I agree with Reeces, as this place sounds lovely! I am a Rooibos tea addict and you can rarely find places that serve it so I would definitely like to try this cafe next time I travel out that way. Thank you for the recommendation!
