I went to Saldechin during the Adelaide fringe and loved their cocktail specials. Two for one martinis? Yes please! I've been there on a date once before, too, and loved the atmosphere. It's never very busy, although that could be because the place is way too large; it never looks full.

A nice place to stop in and have a drink.

Saldechin is a coffee/tea house/cocktail bar/restaraunt all in one! I've only ever been for coffee/tea/cake and lunches, and I prefer it as a place to sit and while away a bit of time over a tea/coffee snuggled up on the sofas.

The cakes and teas are wonderful, they have a very wide range of 'fancy' teas which come out in gorgeous clear glass personal 'kettles' where you can see the leaves/berries/flowers that flavour your tea.

The atmosphere is chilled and elegant - the building is beautiful and the decorating does well to enhance it. Sofas around the fringes are a nice counterpoint to the tables and chairs for dining. It is a bit of a hike to the lavs as mentioned by a previous reviewer, but it's an adventure :)

Service has always been good, staff are friendly and happy to give you advice on teas etc.

You can join their website/emailing list and they will send you details of upcoming events - I think you're eligible for 10% discount if you're a member as well...I've never remembered to claim it though so double check on their website...

Love Saldechin and I hope it's around for many years to come!

I bought a scoupon to try out saldechin as I had heard great things but it seemed expensive. On my first visit, they were accommodating and very friendly. The cocktails and tapas my friend and I ordered were delicious! On our second visit, the guy who served us last time immediately recognised me (after several months passing from our first visit), and said to another hostess to make sure I'm seated promptly as I'm here all the time. That certainly wasn't true but it did make me feel very special and welcomed. Again another serving of deliciously amazing tapas and cocktails. Been here again many, many times and it is my favourite place to have pre-going out drinks and nibbles. $10 cocktails you cannot go wrong. My personal favourite tapas dishes: the buffalo wings with blue cheese sauce and the sweet potato fries with lemon aioli. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Never a bad experience!

The decor inside is very different to other restaurants. The building itself appears to be like it was previously an old bank. The furniture inside has a mixture of a lounge feel for those after a drink or just tea as well as tables for dining. They've also got items on sale, like decor etc.

I've been here a few times for dinner. Their duck dish is absolutely delicious! I would highly recommend this place to all.

Great breakfast experience in palatial environment - superb menu, beautifully presented. Only negative was the memorable toilet experience - down lots of stairs, along passageways, through several doors, etc. walls desperately needing a scrub or coat of paint!

Mainly visit this establishments for drinks after work - interesting building with lots of character. Always surprises me that it is a bar/restaurant. Sometimes it works and other times it feels like there is a little too much space, and the hike down stairs to the toilets and back can be a little arduous.

HOWEVER - the service and the martinis are great. The owner is a character and always lots of interesting conversations to be had.

Have been here a couple of times now for lunch and I simply love their Yum Cha. They have a selection of wines from the Adelaide Hills which you can select and purchase at very reasonable prices. Absolutely beautiful building which you get to explore if you want to go to the toilet as it it is deep in the bowels of the building which used to be an old bank.

Saldechin has an amazing atmosphere. It used to be an old bank building so the building itself is on a grand scale. Lovely place for a client lunch. Breakfast and yum cha are worth trying.

Enjoyed the food, atmosphere and service. LOVED the martinis!! Dinner is excellent value for money. It is great to find a reliable place to go for a quick dinner after work in the city.

I love this place! Breakfasts are good, good place to go for lunch, good place to go for after work drinks (especially with the happy hour yum cha specials on Fridays). Staff are always friendly and obviously they have a great range of teas
