I had the Speical Fried Rice for about $12. It was listed as a side dish but was satisfying as a light meal. It had an authentic Malaysian style and taste, and did remind me of rice dishes I've had in Malaysia. I found the staff to be courteous and conscientious and seemed to be keen for us to come back next time.

A nice malaysian restaurant to dine in for lunch or dinner. The service is okay and the restaurant has a nice ambience. The lunch specials are value for money. I particularly like the fish dishes with rice. Also, try the fish fillet noodle and bak kuh teh.

Ordinary malaysian place, there are other better malaysian restaurants out there. The fried foods are quite oily. The service is friendly. The laksa is pretty good especially eaten when eaten with sambal. I must admit the sambal here is authentic and tasty.

We were in the process of moving house, and wanted to go to the city to buy some things to eat. Being late, there was absolutely no time to cook, so we decided to try Sambal Kampung! Headed upstairs, the waiter was very good at taking our order, very specifically mind you, and quickly. Chilli was a little mild for me, but it was still hot. Keep in mind that I have really HOT chilli. Had the rice with curry beef I believe. Tasted quite nice. Dessert was a banana fritter with ice cream, a bit simple, but still delicious. Nice drinks there as well, a little bit out there but still tasted awesome. Overall, I was really happy with it and I definitely will go back for more!

Having recently moved to Richmond and trying to find really authentic Malaysian/Singapore food, we were delighted to discover Sambal Kampung. On our first order, we just called up from home without a menu and had one e-mailed to us almost immediately. We got the full restaurant menu and ordered entrees and mains - ready in 15 minutes!!

This was no fluke as we got the same excellent service for our 2nd order.

The curry laksa is outstanding. We've ordered the Loh Bak, beef rendang and roti chennai also, all really authentic and most delicious. We will definitely keep ordering (pick-up) from this establishment and be trying different items from the extensive menu.

We have been patronising the East Melbourne branch on Wellington Parade, not the one in the city.

Our staff have lunch here very often. The noodle dishes, rice that you order from the menu are delicious. I recommend the curry laksa on a cold day!! The service is fast and friendly & the atmosphere is great. Only issue is seats are hard to find as it's so popular!
