11 reviews about Sealink Kangaroo Island Ferries

I’m writing this review only in relation to their customer service with a cancellation.
Because I no longer use the credit card I booked on they are taking 5 weeks to issue the refund via EFT. Not to mention the poor customer conditions with the refund when cancelling 6 months out to loose $250 when the spot will clearly be filled. My children can transfer money via an app. Seriously.

Approximate cost: $250

Terrible customer service (or lack of!)

It has been over two weeks and still no response in any form to my last two emails/website enquiries regarding a potential (and very overpriced) visit to Kangaroo Island, SA. This is absolutely disgusting customer service. I will not be recommending Sealink Travel Group.

We used shopadockets and the Entertainment Book Vouchers to get cheaper rates - we were a group of 11 in 3 cars. The undiscounted rates can be quite high. But it does save on airfare and renting a car at KI.
Booking over the phone was easy. Their online booking also looks easy - we had to book online in view of using vouchers. For the return trip we wanted to change to a later ferry and this was done quickly over the phone.
Loading and unloading the cars was easy, even though the return journey had quite a lot of cars and there was also a big truck. The guides were very efficient! We found that one of the cars had moved a bit in the rough seas and for some reason my boot opened!
The trip to KI was quite rough, but can't blame Sealink for it. The return trip was smooth and really nice. My two-year old enjoyed running up and down the aisle and the visit to the top of the boat.
There's a reasonable amount of food available onboard. Seats are quite comfy - the seats in front with a nice view fill up fast! Toilets were usable. And yes... there were plenty of sickness bags available!
The Sealink Website also had some great deals on stay plus travel.

Approximate cost: $500

Our experience didn't start off great, as our boat was cancelled and we were moved to a later boat. We didn't get the phone call, as we were out of phone signal range so ended up waiting down at the ferry terminal.

I have never been on a big boat like that before, in the open sea - and was rather petrified as the sea was pretty rough! We had some locals with us at the same time, and they said we had a pretty good ride - it gets a lot worse!! Another 5 minutes on the boat, and I would have spewed! My poor partner didn't get a chance to experience it, as my nails were being dug in his arm!! The trip took an extra 20 minutes (like I needed more time on the boat!!) as we met a ship, so had to change our course, and go round it.

Our return trip was smooth sailing, not a single bump! And we were able to walk around and experience the trip more.

If I did it again, I would definately sit there and wait until the conditions were perfect before going across!!

The boat itself is in good condition, for the amount you pay though - I was expecting a whole lot more! The staff were friendly, and changing the time of our boat back was a very easy and pleasant experience.

Fast ferry to Kangaroo island, extremely expensive however. The booking service over the phone leaves many unanswered questions as it is rushed and robotic and the website is a little confusing, to me anyway, trying to work out the ferry/accomm packages as they prices change when you try to book. The ferry deckhands are well organised with the customer car parking so well planned out it is like precision dancing. I was impressed. The on board staff are friendly, helpful and chatty and the prices are not too bad on board. Very bumpy ride, good luck to you if you get sea sick. Get on early to get a good seat with a view and table.

Approximate cost: $98-$270

This is the first time we used the services of Sea-Link traveling to and from KI. The service at the Penneshaw terminal was great.. the staff were very friendly and patient and even accommodated us on the earlier wihtout making a big fuss
