In the digital era 3rd party platforms
like Service Seeking and other similar sites are a sound concept, however it's let down by rorting and incompetence from both sides, tradies and the platforms themselves. My experience as a user is that of finding most handyman/builders not willing to provide an upfront quote by text, even unwilling to provide a resume marketing snapshot of their business backgrounds, and only supplying their business name and contact details which l can source on white or yellow pages online. Moreover for a simple job installing window roller blinds their asking me for photos and info on the blinds, windows and wall materials which tells me that they can't be very competent or experienced at the task their applying for. Lastly their quotes once you do get it out of them seems quite pricey with one rorting cowboy builder quoting me $330 to install 2 blinds. I think l'll be sticking with Gumtree where l received a $60 an hour quote for the same job from a local to me handyman business. I reckon genuine tradies should be sticking to them as well.

I am a tradie on Service seeking for the last almost 10 years. I don’t expect you to agree with my point of view.
We’ve tried all services platforms out there (HI-Pages, One-Flare, Airtasker & bark) we found that service seeking are the elite in the business.
Firstly, You may need to know how to pick the 5 star providers (which they go an extra mile for the booked job - might be a bit higher in the cost, however, the end result what matters, right?)
Secondly, Check the business ABN that listed on service seeking site
Thirdly, ask the provider with certificate of currency or national police certificate or any business registration documents to save you the massive headaches at the end - the blame goes back to service seeking
Fourthly, service seeking provides up 12 quotes (unlike other site only 3 quotes) & they recommend you up 50 business with various star ratings to leave the last decision to yourself …. My Experience been great with them as a provider & a customer at the same time

Posted a new job (data cabling. I received 4-5 responses which was pretty decent. Not a single business wanted to call me to discuss the job. I tried messaging all incumbents and one of them who called me and abused me for some strange reason...that wasn't even the worst part - my job is about a week old, i click the link in my email to view the job (as i never closed ot or completed it) and it's been removed from the system without warning. Won't be wasting my timer here again; too many one-man and nuffies trying to look professional but struggle to run a decent job with their own website.

Leads for businesses are average but they have a great customer service sales person in Xander.
I would suggest getting on paper how many leads specific to your service you could aspect as proof for later on.

I have used them for a job at my place, got quoted by a tradie from JMA Construction Group who ended up being a conman, not registered and left me with a messy unfinished job that it is costing me lots of money to fix. Service seeking's response to my complaint was: it is now between me and the tradie, it is not their fault that he wasn't registered and they didn't check it. Basically anyone with a valid ID and ABN can register with them start quoting customers. I have reported it to the ACCC and Consumers Affairs. Be careful with guys poeple!. The tradie that I hired through their website was unlicensed and unregistered. Needless to say that ServiceSeeking stated that the mentioned tradie was licensed when I called them to check. I went to post my review on their website and got blocked, they have even blocked from their facebook. Then someone called me a year later recognising their stuff up and apologising for the inconvenience. Still blocked from their facebook though...By the way, they still don't check the licensing of the business they advertise on their website, so be careful everyone!

Appreciate it is difficult to check all the credentials of those who present themselves as tradespeople on this website, but it would be time well spent. One person came to my house, quoted for building a bookcase...not inexpensive, drew plans and never to be heard of again. A cleaner I hired ripped me off for a few months before I twigged and yet again a person who assured me they would look at my job failed to turn up. This also happens on other tradespeople websites. My time is also precious. Unimpressed. Back to the yellow pages for me.

Strange, I am one of the tradies you are talking about and we are told that only three quotes will be given to any service seeker, Service seeking getting 6x the lead price when they say they are only getting three.
Oh and by the way, its not free for trades, we pay for every contact we get. Its costing small businesses a fortune.it will eventually make small businesses out of business, and then the cowboys will clean up, think about it

i had a horrible experience, use with caution!

1.) the tradie i hired that was highly rated in their site (24 positive reviews with 1 negative review, member for over 2 years) was one of the worst tradies i have ever dealt with. he did a site inspection prior to doing the job. he underquoted me and asked for more money in the middle of the job, which i said no to. of course he didnt finish the job that we agreed on and only did 2/3. he also underestimated the time it takes to complete the job, said it would take 2 days tops. he finished in about 5 days, and kept complaining how he should be paid more. his workmanship was absolutely terrible. he was very rude and got verbally aggressive when i pointed out faults his workmanship. obviously this is no fault to serviceseeking that this tradie was dodgy, but shows that the rating system is broken and only favors positive reviews that resulted in this scenario.

2.) luckily i paid a $20 premium for an additional $3000 cover for faulty workmanship. i filed a claim against this to reimburse myself the money i spent to pay for another tradie (which i hired from another competitor site - his workmanship and professional attitude was excellent) to fix up the mess that was left by the serviceseeking tradie. my claim was approved last 3rd of April, and after 12 business days i am still waiting on the actual payment. i have followed up numerous times on this and all i get are promises but no delivery. they tend to give out little to no information on their communication to customers.

all of their customer service staff is based in the philippines and there is no way to escalate an issue and speak to someone that is based in australia.
