I had all my gear removed from an apartment, put into storage for five days and the moved to a two story apartment. The guys were really friendly, professional and nothing was too much trouble. They worked constantly without a break. Definitely recommend them!

They did a great job, the boys were friendly, easy to talk to and nothing was too much trouble. They were very helpful. They seemed happy in their work and got along well with each other. Would be happy to use them again or recommend them to a friend.

Our experience of Shelly's Removals was that the two staff were prompt, helpful, extremely careful with our valuable house contents, and worked efficiently throughout the day to get the job done as quickly as possible without taking risks.
They deserve a raise! Those guys are outstanding!!!! We've used other removalists before and had much less pleasant experiences.
My wife and I were extremely impressed and would recommend them to anyone who needs a removal done safely and quickly.

From the phone calls with Despina from Shelly's office to the two boys who did the packing through to the three removalists on the day, the service was impeccable.

We moved from Bacchus Marsh to Montrose and not one single thing broken or damaged.

Everyone was on-time (give or take 30 minutes because of Melbourne traffic) and the staff worked tirelessly from the moment they arrived, to the moment they had finished. We were surprised when they asked permission to have a break even though the work is exhausting and the breaks were well earned. Even the travel time between Bacchus Marsh and Montrose indicated that the guys would have had lunch in the truck while on the road and so we didn't have to pay extra for them to have a lunch break.

We paid the little bit extra to have three removalists on the truck and it was worth every cent as two of them could carry the heavy stuff while the third packed and secured the truck and this no doubt saved time and money and I would recommend this to anyone else moving.

We were amazed that we went from very little packed on the Tuesday morning to fully settled by late Wednesday which reduced the stress of the move.

Overall the costs were good with the packing and move just on $2500. 2 guys for 4.5 hours packing and 3 guys for almost 10 hours move the next day so very good value for money I think.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Shelly's to anyone and we will certainly use their services when we next have to move.

We had a move performed by Chris & Norbert, they are very professional, caring and polite. I have used many removalists over the years and these 2 staff are up there with the best. Great customer service, and care. We felt like they cared about us and the success of the move, good time management as well.

1. i was booking for 10am, they come at 9:30am, when i arrive they try to make me sign the paper saying they start job at 9:30.
2. broken my expensive glass not pay responsibility. i was standing there watch them move my glass, i'm very sure the glass is not broken b4. when they broken my glass, they look at me like a innocent, so i say :' that's fine'. because i don't want to wasting the time and my money to discuss who's fault, they might be discuss with me for half or one hour. and they will ask me to pay it, thats no good. because they try to dodgy the start time at begin. (plz chekc #1)
3. they are working very slow! i was moving my house one year b4, i have lot of furniture(4 bed), the other moving company finished within 3hours. and this time Shelly move my factory ( 11 table, 2 bar fridge, 1 normal fridge, 2 shelf, and some chairs. ) they were did 4 hours and 15 min with 3 man !!! can you image that? 3 man for only some furniture they did 4 hours and 15min. this is not expectable!! also will let you know, my factory is very easy to acesse with high gate.
also they cant fit in all the furniture in once in a 14 ton truck, lol what a joke. they wasted time on travel on road like 1 hour. i think thats why, but still slow, they should finish within 1.5 hours anyway.
4. at last i try to discuss about the broken glass ( $300 ) they saying no you already signed, the glass already broken b4 we touch it. Haha, i was standing there watching them, i know exactly how the glass broken, and now they tell me its broken b4 !! yes, i was silly trust them, and signed the paper,because i trust them gonna give me comfort answer, but they not, after i signed, they just try to run away. they say:' look, you signed here and anything wrong call this number, and they just drive the truck with i standing just right to the truck, but lucky i didn't get hurt. i was jump away from the truck.
after they gone, i call the boss( they say she is the boss), told her everything, and she said she gonna call me back when ask her staff, but never response.!
PS: the boss said she gonna suit me if i write a review, anyway im gonna tell the truth, and im not soft puppy.
i don't know why people give them a good review, but i had a very bad experience with them.
never use them again, and hope no one getting hurt or bad service with them ever.

We were completely satisfied with every aspect of the service provided from Shelly Removals , including communication, careful, efficient and friendly removalists and flexibility.We were able to arrange pickup at a time that suited and had to change delivery date and time several times and were accommodated without any hesitation.Even on the delivery day Sima switched our delivery time with a pickup to ensure that my daughter could get to her unit to accept delivery. We would definitely use this company for any further moves and have already recommended to family and friends

We have used Shelly Removals & Storage to move our house from Bentleigh to Mentone.
They did a great job, nothing was to hard for them, price was ok- not the cheapest but not as expensive as other companies- you get what you pay for.
I don't have enough word to say what a great service I received start from the administration to the removalist. truck was big enough to carry all of our good in one load.
I would defiantly recommend this company to friends and family with no hesitation.
(don't forget to ask for Rob & Clark).

We were moving from Dingley Village to country Victoria after 32 years in one place.
The initial work and follow up by the administration staff was very efficient and courteous. We would particularly like to acknowledge the professionalism, care and attention to detail of the two men Andrey and Aviv who worked tirelessly during the whole procedure. From the initial contact through to completion of the job I was extremely satisfied. Communication and follow-up was very professional yet personal. After 22 years, moving home is a big step and we couldn't be more happy than we were with Shelly Removals. The team of four were safe, fast, and reliable and made the day very straightforward. Hi Linda and Despina,

Can you please pass onto management what a great job the guys did today moving me from Mount Martha to St Kilda Rd. I'm terrible with names but both gentlemen were polite, courteous and professional - they communicated to me really well and were efficient considering there was a fair distance from the truck to the apartment and they also had to contend with rain. Nothing seemed to much trouble for the guys, considering the stress of moving this was really appreciated.

The price was excellent considering when I hired a truck a couple of months ago it cost me around $260 + and with help from my friends a few of my items were damaged but today it cost me ~ $480 and all my possessions were handled with care and I didn't have to work anywhere near as hard.

I would have no hesitation using or recommending Shelly's again.

I used Shelly for a removal service from my apartment to my storage unit. The two guys allocated to this job on 4 November were pleasant, friendly and got the job done quickly and seamlessly. I would highly recommend them/request them for my next move to ensure I get the same experience.

The only thing that gave me a small fright when paying the bill was additional costs which when quoted, I was told did not exist. One of the guys mentioned that if this is the case it would have been a mistake from thier end (as this had happened before) he called them, I spoke to a lady and the additional fees were waived.

1.5 rooms was moved in 2.5 hours.

My husband and I cannot believe the 5/5 star rating for Shelly Removals on this website, and I wonder how many of the reviews here are actually from genuine customers. Our experience is from February of this year.

We were moving from a 2-bedroom apartment to another 2-bedroom apartment, and they were very near each other – about 800m apart. I am a meticulous person and after checking all the reviews on the Internet and getting quotes from over 10 removalists, I decided to go with Shelly. Sadly, my experience just goes to show that you cannot rely on online reviews, and nothing beats genuine recommendations from friends, family and colleagues that you trust.

I would've thought that the job in hand would be a relatively small one, maybe taking about 3 hours in total. This expectation was based on the fact that 1. We were moving from a small 2-bedroom apartment, not a house, 2. to a nearby place, and 3. a similar load took two guys about two and a half hours to load and unload in New Zealand.

Instead, it took two guys from Shelly Removals about 7 hours, and cost us nearly $1000 (this is including the $250 charge for packing the previous day). It is ludicrous considering that 1. A lift was booked for them for their exclusive use in both apartments (moving from a 4th floor apartment to a 3rd floor apartment). 2. Everything was packed neatly with no loose things 3. We had given away our refridgerator and washing machine to our friends the previous day, ie no big electronic appliances to move, and finally 4. We ended up moving the small appliances and clothes ourselves the next day because I just got fed up with how excruciatingly slowly they were working.

I've never seen any movers ‘move' so slowly before – they were two young, fit guys. When I tried to speed up the process by helping, I got told that I shouldn't as it may invalidate their insurance policy. It was one of the most frustrating experiences I've had, watching these two guys drag out the process. For example they would load up the lift, go down, then take one item at a time to their truck. Instead of both of them working, one of them would be carrying the items while the other stayed in the truck the whole time. I don't know why - I've never seen anything like it before. I didn't even see one of them break a sweat during the entire move. As you can imagine, clearing up each lift load of things took extraordinarily long time. The only reasonable explanation I can think of is that they were doing the job deliberately slowly, as they were on an hourly rate. Honestly, it would've taken my husband and me less time to do the moving ourselves.

The only positive thing to say is that the furniture was moved carefully and no damage was incurred.

As a last insult, I noticed that we got charged $25 for toll and also for travel time. Their website says “additional costs may be required if road tolls are encountered during transportation of goods.” Notice the word “DURING” transportation of goods. As I sad earlier the apartment we were moving to was barely 800m down the road (i.e. no toll!!). When I complained, they just kept saying it was because they used toll when they were travelling from their depot to our place in Southbank. They didn't seem to understand why that trip wouldn't count as “DURING transportation of goods”.

In addition, we got charged travel time. Beware, in their emails to you, they tell you that “no travel time charge back and from depot – door to door only – up to one hour from the depot”. Most people, after reading that, would assume that as long as it doesn't take more than an hour from the depot to your place, they won't charge you travel time. The truth is that if the COMBINED travel time TO and FROM their depot is more than 1 hour, they will charge you travel time. In our case, they claimed that each to/from trip took 45 minutes, with the use of toll road, and at times of the day far away from the rush hour. When I looked it up on google maps, neither trip should take more than 30 minutes each at that time of the day. But no, apparently it took 45 minutes each, with a combined total of 90 minutes, so we got charged travel time for 30 minutes. Basically they can say whatever they want and charge you whatever they like – how are you going to contest it, unless you actually ride in the truck with them to and from the depot?

I am planning to make an official complaint to Consumer Affairs Victoria, as I have saved all the email correspondence and documents from Shelly Removals. In the mean time, I would suggest that you try and get a quote for the whole move (not just an hourly rate) and get them to give you a written confirmation of all the extra charges, if you don't want to be shocked to see the final amount on the bill at the end of the move. That is, if you still want to go with Shelly after reading this review!

I recently relocated from Melbourne to Sydney.

The team at Shelly Removals had made my interstate relocation easy and painless. Out of the three well known companies I obtained quotes from it was the most reasonably priced as well as being able to work to a timeline that is well suited to today's consumer demands (rather than waiting for up to 2 weeks for my household contents to be delivered in Sydney, Shelly Removals completed the whole move and delivered my entire household contents, door-to-door within three business days). On top of providing a very competitive rate and a desirable delivery timeline, I was really impressed with the quality of the service provided by the team at Shelly Removals – from the first phone call of quotation, pickup of household contents in Melbourne to the successful and on time delivery in Sydney. The pickup and delivery team took great care in protecting my household contents and displayed absolute professionalism even after having to go up and down 6 flights of stairs with some very heavy furniture and having to problem solve to get some tricky furniture delivered to my top floor apartment.

Overall – I am very pleased with the results and will certainly recommend the service provided by the team at Shelly Removals as the number one choice for anyone considering an interstate relocation.

We recently moved house with Shelly Removals.
We have experienced quite a few removalists in our time - from the budget backloads ones (NEVER again!) to the better "middle range priced" ones. We found Shelley Removals excellent. From box delivery to packing our house (my furniture has never been treated so tenderly before! Even wrapped in giant Glad Wrap!) to unloading at our new home (no scratches, and no one has ever managed to leave the boxes in the right rooms before).
The men were open, communicative, respectful. They seemed to work well together and safely (I've had an injured removalist at our previous home and that was an awful experience).
The price was really competitive, and they promise to buy back the boxes from us when we've unpacked!
My husband wanted to go with a big, well known company. I am really happy we went with a small, family-owned one.

I would like to take this opportunity to leave feed back in relation to the home relocation that was undertaken Shelly Removals

Our move was from The Basin to Croydon South and our removalist team consisted of David, Chris and Joseph.

They arrived on time and ready for a hard days work. They worked dilligently and methodically to get all our goods loaded onto the 12 tonne truck that was provided.

We were very pleased with the care they took. Most of our belongings are older and marked and scratched or dented from many years of family use. They treated each piece as if it were a priceless antique, taking time to wrap individual pieces and taking care loading onto the truck in order to make best use of the available space. At the end of the loading process they offered to assist us to load a larger awkward item onto our trailer, to allow them to take more of our goods on the truck. This made less for us to have to move the next day.

It was a long day for the boys (and us) but even at the end, when fatigue could cause less care to be taken, this did not happen. As a result, not one piece was damaged, nor any damage done to property by moving furniture through door ways etc.

Our removalists were polite, courteous and very congenial - there were heavy and difficult pieces to move including a piano, which they did with care.

As we are building and will need removalists again within 18 months, I will definitely be using this company again.

I recently had my 'move' with Shelly Removals the other week.

I was delighted with the service from beginning to end. The two chaps (Alex and …. I can't recall the other driver's name), were wonderful. Nothing was a problem for them, they had a good sense of humour and communicated to me every step of the way any additional charges or issues they saw. I cannot recommend Shelly Removals highly enough and should I need to move again in the future (hopefully a few years away), I will certainly be looking to use Shelly again.

We booked Shelly to move house (double storey) across town with a stop in between to drop off some stuff at a storage site. Their quoted pricing was good and they were prompt in answering any questions over email prior to the move.

On the day 3 guys turned. One was the older 'leader' and the other two were younger student types. They were friendly and hard working.

Although nothing disastrous happened and we did manage to move house without major issues, there were some small niggly things that when added up might cause some concern for others. I will share and let you make up your mind.

1. Not everything could fit into the truck they brought along. The other company that quoted me actually sent someone to inspect my house and concluded I would need a large truck and a smaller truck to get everything loaded. Shelly quoted over the phone and I guess it resulted in underestimating my needs. But we moved 90% of the stuff, so I had to sort out the remaining 10% myself.
2. Even though I asked and was told everything was fully insured for the move, it was eluded to me that if the staff broke or damaged anything, they would have to pay/fix it! This made me feel sorry for the staff, and not my idea of insurance!
3. When a removalist tells you "so and so is a bit fragile, don't be surprised if there is some damage". This is actually code for "we just broke it in the truck whilst loading, don't be surprised at the other end"
4. We had a king latex mattress which I knew would be a handful to move. The other company were proud of the fact that they had a special cover for the mattresses which I presumed would allow them to be moved safely. Shelly roped up my mattress and I found out later on that this had caused a tear in the lining of the mattresses due to the ropes bending it out of shape.
5. When disassembling furniture I thought it would have been common sense to store the nuts and bolts in plastic bags so they can be safely transported and reassembled the other end. Nope. I found furniture at the other end missing nuts and bolts as these items were generally placed in drawers which made them prone to falling out.
6. Luckily we did not have expensive furniture. Some of my chairs in my dining set had very visible scuff makes on them wear securing ropes on the truck had dug in. When I told the guy, he just told me to run some jif on it. It didn't work.
7. The most annoying part of the day was the delay of the truck at arriving at the storage site. I started the journey at the same time as them, but still ended up having to wait more than an hour for them to arrive at the site. After some phone calls and some anxious waiting, they finally arrived with the excuse that there was an accident on the freeway. Considering I left at the same time, and travelled at the speed limit, I found this very hard to believe. I also checked my online resources and did not see any accidents reported on the freeway for that day. I cannot help but feel that this was a deliberate action to clock up time on the move so I would have to pay more.
8. The icing on the cake was when it was time to pay. The bill seemed higher than I expected and when I questioned the guys I could sense they were very uncomfortable with something and quickly asked me to speak to their boss on the phone. I was told that some of the extra charge was for the toll usage. I asked them what toll since none of the route used had any tolls. They stumbled and mumbled that they had mixed up my job with another one and took off the charge. I felt this was another dodgy move to try and jack up the price.

Anyway, as you can see the issues are not huge, but a few smaller issues to amount up to something. I hope my honest reflection of my experience will be useful to others.

I just thought I would put in writing exactly how impressed I am with every aspect of our move. People are so quick to tell others what they are doing wrong.

Your team has been amazing - Janelle's customer service is absolutely fantastic. Pleasant, flexible, and incredibly helpful. She bent over backwards to help us get through a difficult settlement period with our new house. She is a real gem. But also the other lady I have spoken with in the office (sorry, I didn't catch her name) was lovely.
Fong and his guys was equally great. Careful, meticulous and very very efficient. And how they managed to fit everything into a small truck is a mystery to me! They must be very clever at playing Tetris ;-)
