The quality of the food and the menu itself are in no way lacking and are bound to impress, the food is done to perfection but unforunately they let themselves down on customer skills as you would expect when paying top dollar.

Excellent but expensive Japanese food. This is where you go for a great top end Japanese dining experience. You would almost be satisfied just be ordering the food to look at, which the taste a bonus.

They do serve some Japanese street food here as well as Bento boxes, but you really want to focus on the more elegant dishes and of course the sashimi.

We went to sono a few times now as we love the food there. It's always fresh and tasty. I prefer go there at dinner times when it's very nice and quite. Lunch time can be noisy if they are running kids specials etc. don't like some weekends as the big ship docks outside and block the river view. It's expensive so we only go for birthdays or other special occasions

Approximate cost: $40

We agree that the food is very nice. However, disappointed with the service for a fine dining restaurant charging top dollar. We wouldn't come back here again.

This is one of our favourite restaurants. It is a beautiful setting and the food is always immaculately presented, fresh and flavoursome. The service is very attentive without being overbearing. It is quite expensive but worth it. We dine here quite regularly for both work and pleasure and the Maitre D' always recognises us and shows us to our preferred type of table, even when we haven't made a booking.

Sono is close to the best overall Japanese dining experience in Brisbane. The food is very good, service is top notch and the menu is somewhat different to other Japanese restaurants. My only criticisms would be that it is a little expensive and that the menu is a little disappointing in it's choices of alternative Japanese cuisine.

I agree they are a bit overpriced but I havn't found another Japanese restaurant in Brisbane with the same atmosphere that matches the quality of food. Worth the extra money here I think.

This was definatly the best Japanese fine dining restaurant I have been to. We went here for a friend's birthday dinner and couldn't believe how cool this restaurant was. We had a private room with sunken tables. There are sunken tables throughout the restaurant and normal tables also. There is also Teppenyaki tables. We ordered the $65 per person banquet and it was so good. I would definatly order it again on my next visit. The biggest downfall of the restaurant is how pricey the drinks but the food more than makes up for that.

Approximate cost: $20 -$55

food is really excellent. although your experience (of the food) does depend somewhat on what you select and your expectations.

service is uniformly friendly and very efficient. huge number of wait staff.

river views. try asking for a riverside table.

wine not inexpensive, but not outrageous.

Approximate cost: $25

A fine Japanese dining experience. Ingredients and food is top notch and matches the top notch pricing but worth it.
Dining area is spacious and very zen.
Food comes out smoothly, staff are knowledgeable and a great place for a special occasion where you want to be spoilt.
Highly recommended - especially the sushi and tempura.

We dined at the Teppanyaki bar as a family of four. We each tried a different (degustation) menu with our 12 yo choosing some items from the al la carte menu. The chef put on a great show and it was wonderful to have a dining expereince that entertained our Gen Z kids who normally sit there bored and unable to engage in conversation. The food was amazing and sufficient to leave us satiated. A significant wine menu complimented the food on offer. The price range is for the whole course.

Approximate cost: $65-$85

It is exceptional! Very special experience. I felt like I was back in Japan. We had a sashimi plate, wagu steak, tempura, and eggplant dish with some sake. I was very happy with each dishes.

Only negative will be the price. I would only go there again on a special occasion.
