Fraudulent misconduct of management/membership

My 14 year old daughter went to the gym two months ago to ask about joining. They let her have a workout and then got her (a minor) to sign the contract without my knowledge. They then proceeded to use my credit card probably from a previous membership on file and take out a unauthorised payment from bank account stating my 14 year old authorised the payment from my account. Complete lies. I requested one month ago for the payment to be put back into my account but denied. The managers Keally, Noah and branch manager Brendan all deny these serious breaches and unfortunately with this type of management these serious issues will continue. The bank was shocked and stated it is total fraudulent. Consumer affairs stated misleading, fraudulent conduct. I requested finance dept and head office numbers and denied by Brendan the Branch manager instead he just cancelled my daughters membership without discussion, authorisation or approval to avoid the situation. BEWARE.

Beware of auto renew memberships

Canceled my membership about a year ago due to a job opportunity in Queensland: When I signed the contract I was told I didn’t have to pay any cancellation fees if moving abroad: I ended up being charged anyway.
After some months I noticed that I was still being charged, had to call and write several times to stop that. They initially refused to refund me even if I got charged c. 700$.

Came back to Melbourne a couple of months ago. A dozen email (and a visit to the city club) after:
After showing a written copy of the cancellation form I was promised a refund as soon as the information accounts department would approve it.

Two months have passed and I’m still waiting. No answer to my emails asking updates.

End of story: Stay away. Really poor attitude

STEALERS!!!! Do not go to the St Kilda South Pacific gym. After 15 at least emails, they have still not refunded the money which was taken out 3 times!!! Promises of forwarding onto management too!! I am FURIOUS! They do not CARE

Shameful! I attempted to cancel my membership after 8 long years and I got the total run around for 2 weeks. I was told I had to attend on a certain day at a certain time (days and times which did not work for me!) and be subjected to a grilling as to why I wanted to cancel! I turned up today and was told I had to come back after 30 minutes as the person whom does the cancellations had not started work as yet. What? At 3pm!! Crap! I was then subjected to multiple interrogation questions as to why I wanted to cancel. This led to a heated dispute. All I wanted to do was cancel my membership for which I had been attempting for 2 weeks!! I was then abruptly told that there is a 30 day cancellation policy from today and my account would be direct debited!! But I had been trying to cancel for 2 weeks!! THIEVES!!! I was maliciously deceived, manipulated and then had monies stolen from me! Apparently this is what South Pacific Health Club St Kilda does to people whom want to cancel there membership. They will pull every trick in the book to stop you and then attempt to get extra weeks of payment with dubious tactics! DO NOT JOIN THIS THIEVING GYM!!

I would urge everyone to avoid this club. It is extremely difficult to cancel the membership even where you are not on a fixed term contract. The processes in place appear to be intentionally designed to make it very difficult to cancel. This is disingenuous and disrespectful to customers of the club.

I called the club to cancel my membership and was told I had to appear face-to-face at the club to do so. I advised that I could not attend face-to-face. However, they persisted to refuse to cancel the membership over the phone or by email. They did however state that my conversation with them on that date would amount to notifying them of my intention to cancel.

When I eventually attended the club to cancel the membership, I was sat down and asked a number of questions relating to why I was cancelling for instance, my alternatives to the membership with this club. I raised the fact that the cancellation process was frustrating and noted the retention process. Remarkably, the staff member insisted that the required face-to-face cancellation meeting was not at all for the purpose of retention, but rather to give me the benefit of fully understanding the throws of cancelling a contract. I note that the 'Membership Cancelation' form she provided me during the required face-to-face meeting prominently and in detail describes 'alternatives to cancelling'. In fact, almost half of the form is dedicated to 'Alternatives to Cancelling'.

The friendly demeanour of the staff member disappeared after expressing that I was not interested in alternatives to cancelling my membership. After raising my concerns with the staff member, they told me I wasn't able to cancel immediately because I had not provided 30 days notice to do so. I advised that I had already called to cancel and was told on the phone that the earlier conversation would amount to notification of cancellation. Despite this, the staff member refused to accept this as notification. The staff member stated that they would ask head office to assist. This assistance was denied.

I attempted to resolve cancellation with them amicably and had a terrible, concerning experience. Best avoid.

Was a member of the St kilda club for over 12 months an could not cancel a 12 month contract because the small print requires 26 full payments so the suspension cost is additional. I will never be back awful service.

Really good quality gym. I really loved the view and all the equipment was up to good quality and modern. I really loved this gym, I will definitely be going back.

Amazing gym, I tried it on a free one day pass I got and the view was amazing and the equipment was modern and up to date. I loved it and will be back I can assure you.

Great gym, great view, gym membership includes use of the salt water swimming pool, spa and sauna. The main gym is upstairs and looks out over the bay.
