Watch out when ordering off the grill. I requested ( and paid for) scotch fillet but got a very chewy piece of rump instead. For me, i wont be buying off their grill again.

Dined here twice now and enjoyed the food both times. I called at 8pm and was told kitchen still open. Good size portions and good prices. I can recommend the seafood platter to share.(55) Good overall fresh hotel food and it was busy the two nights I visited. A Monday and a Friday.

Went there last Thursday for a business lunch and was surprised how good the meal was and the staff are friendly and efficient. It has been done up inside and is a good value meal for those looking for a night out.

This may just look like the average pub from the outside i suggest you go inside there's plenty of room to sit. The service is fast and friendly was given menus very fast. The decor is old and out dated but they do play music which has a nice tune to it. I ordered the chicken burger which come out in less then 30 minutes it came with a chicken patty,lettuce,tomato and best of all bacon and tomato sauce and a side of chips. The whole thing tastes great nothing burnt and the chicken patty was real chicken breast and wasint hard and chewy at all. They also over a very large wine and beer menu. They also have an open fire there for cold chilly nights. which gives a homely feeling to this place.

We went there recently for a birthday. Very family friendly with high chairs availiable and a kids menu. My boys also loved that it was right next to the train line and they could look out the window at the trains going past. The dining area is huge, a great place for a big gathering. The meals are enourmous, in fact, most of us could not finish all of them I ordered the seafood platter for one, and two people could have easily shared it. I could only eat half of it. I had taken a birthday cake for the birthday boy and the staff obiiged by storing it in the kitchen and bringing it out with candles lit after dinner. The front bar is huge too, a good place to meet friends for a drink and the beer garden out the back looked inviting as well. We will definately be going back.

The Spottiswoode is a bit of a surprise package these days. Gone is the seriously dodgy and grotty topless bar that it used to be - it's had an awesome makeover and is now a great family pub/restaurant with fantastic decor. I haven't eaten there yet (just had drinks) but I've heard from friends that the steaks are tasty and huge. They have good beers on tap (and ciders) and the prices are pretty low compared to other pubs in the area. Can't wait to go back for another bevvy!

I've eaten here a few times in the last few weeks, and both times I was impressed.

A little surprised to be told all tables were reserved at 5.45pm on a Friday night with only a few punters there. They agreed to squeeze us in. They did get busy very quickly, but really some of the tables still had not arrived at 7.30 when we left, so maybe they need to look at two sittings? We would have definitely agreed to eat and be gone by 7.30'or 8pm.

Both times the meals have been absolutely Ginormous!!! Good quality, but I'm not sure how they are making any money? I'd definitely only order 1 meal between 2 next time, we both wasted more than half our meals.

Get experience though... Oh, did I mention the fabulous beer garden... I'll be back for drinks in Summer.
