Avoid using suncorp and suncorp's business partners (aami, gio....)

Unfortunately, there's no option to give a zero-star rating here! Suncorp Insurance (including AAMI, GIO, and AAI—all the same under different names) fails to provide quality service for customers and car repairs. You have the option to choose your own repairer or go with their recommended repairer. However, if you choose your own, Suncorp often neglects to support the customer and seems to avoid providing assistance. When customers request information, Suncorp frequently refuses to share it. The only solution to this issue seems to be involving the ACCC, Fair Trading, or other relevant consumer protection services.

If you are in an accident with someone who has suncorp car insurance I wish you luck in getting hold of anyone to put your claim through. I have been trying to get through for 2 days so far and I have been on hold for most of it. It doesn't matter what time of day I call either. I have yet to speak to a person as the calls go in a cue as soon as it is answered. Each call to the recovery and claims team is dropped after 50 minutes or so and you have to call them again as they do not have the option of having a call back. Even if they did I am not sure they would call you back any way.
Do you not realise we have been through a traumatic situation and are probably in physical pain, I know I am because of the driver that ran into me while I was stopped at a red light. Suncorp, your lack or action , response and due care for those injured by your clients is astounding. Despite the recorded message while on hold, we are not important to you in anyway and neither is our call, situation or wellbeing. You do not help, you exacerbate the harm.

Excellent customer service. My car was involved in a small fender bender, there were no issues making the claim (even though it was for an unlisted driver). Had the car assessed within 10 days of the accident. Repairs took 3 business days only (needed a new bumper and some panel work on the bonnet). Repair job second-to-none. This is why I pay insurance!

We have suncorp for our landlord insurance and unfortunately had to make a claim after having a horrid tenant. Suncorp were so helpful and professional. They made the whole process so easy and hassle free, and had our claim paid out to us in an unbelievably short amount of time. Highly recommend.

I was insured with APIA, a Suncorp "brand". I suffered a repairable write-off. Not my fault. The vehicle, a Land Rover Defender was insured for $11400. Not the agreed value, the one they forced on me. Repair estimates came in at $12K+. I chose to write the vehicle off and I had it inspected by Suncorp's examiner and he assessed the "salvage" value at about $2200. i.e. the price it could fetch at auction "as is". So I accept. I speak many times with APIA and every time I get the story "you will be paid $11,400, and one of them asked for my bank details. Weeks elapse, no payment. Rude staff on the phone ( note: all recorded for "training" purposes. What a joke.) Eventually I was told, the matter was being reviewed. At NO time did they ring me. Not once.

I finally got the message that the payout was to be $11.4K minus the salvage value. I have to agree and payment was made later.
I took the vehicle to a Land Rover specialist and got some excellent work done, plus a new tray. I was about $500 out of pocket all up.
Take home? Avoid Suncorp and any of their brands. Choose an insurer who offers you a realistic agreed value. You know what you can sell your car for - so they should insure it for something like it. Cheap premiums are just that. And you think its better for the Over 50s. No way.

This should be listed under APIA

I have been with suncorp 10years. Have had a personal loan as well as an everyday account, a savings account and a credit card. Have also had insurance with them when I had my car. Twice did make claims once at fault and once not at fault and both times was impressed with how quickly my car was fixed, and they paid for taxis both to get home after dropping car off and to go to pick it up. Impressively they have a 24hour call centre! And in the city branch, they're open late on Fri nights... My partner still has insurance with them and we love that we can go in on a Fri night with 3 different requests and have all of them dealt with quickly and kindly by just one person

I have an account at Suncorp, and have had for about four years now. I have always been very happy with suncorp, I go in every month to do my banking, most recently two weeks ago. The bank tellers are very friendly and efficient and I like the way that they are involved in the community, I often see fundraising type things in there for very worthwhile charities. I like the personal feel of Suncorp.

Ever since the floods, Suncorp have been the insurance hero and even now that they're denying insurance in towns such as Roma and forcing the hand of government to put in place flood mitigation infrastructure, they are doing it for just and worthy reasons.

I called Suncorp Stafford branch recently for insurance quotes and switched my home and contents to Suncorp. Heather was the lady who helped me and she's fantastic. Very helpful, understanding and does what she can to secure the right product for your needs.

I was surprised that Suncorp's prices were more reasonable than I'd expected too.

I have an account with suncorp and have been very happy with how helpful they have been, gotta love fee free accounts! I went looking for a fee free acount in about July last year, I went to a few places and they all seemed to have accounts with fees which I was trying to avoid, which is how I ended up at Suncorp as the girl showed me exactly what account would suit me. I was really impressed with the feel of the place, especially as when I was there, they were in the middle of a big fundraising effort for a childrens charity.

A great insurance company, easier to contact call centre who are always very helpful. We have been offered great inclusions for our house, especially since we live in a flood/cyclone affected area. I have found since all of Queensland's 2011 natural disasters our annual premiums have been significantly increased.

I find the staff at the Toowoomba Margaret street Branch incredibly helpful and efficient. Every time I have had to go into the branch the line has been quickly dispersed and all the staff are busy helping customers ( like they should be ) instead of what happens at other banks where some staff are helping but some are staring at computers and trying to look busy. If you want a fast efficient bank I suggest suncorp , I've been with them for 13 years and I find them to be fantastic

As a long time customer of Suncorp for ALL our insurance we were shocked when our renewal fees for house insurance had tripled (we have never made a claim). We assumed it was a mistake, went on line and completeld the "free quote" form. The amount came back to just slightly higher then what we had previously paid. So I called Suncorp and was told there was no mistake, I was told that I must have made a mistake on the on line form. Our new premium was 600 dollars more than previous years and what was quoted on line. We are no longer with Suncorp. Our Car insurance has also come up for renewal and we have changed that as well because it was higher than the same insurance we could get elsewhere

Mackay recently had a flood. As a result insurance went up significantly with a number of companies refusing to insure here. My house was unaffected by the flood and still my premium with a certain NSW insurer doubled. I call and tried to explain this to them with a "sorry but thats the price. too bad" response. Called Suncorp who gave me a quote of half the cost of my current insurer and $200 under my previous years insurance. I also switched my car over when they undercut my current quote. Overall Suncorp are highly recommended especially as Flood Cover is now included free of charge.

I had an accident recently and had done a bit of damage to my car. I rang Suncorp Sunday afternoon and explained my problem, the girl on the phone was very sympathetic and explained what I had to do. I then went to the assessment centre and they were very fast with my claim

Like most people last year I topped up my Superannuation prior to the September cut off date with Suncorp. After checking my current balance online I find that I have lost over $22,000 of that deposit plus all contributions since. I fully realise most people have lost money from their Super but found that Suncorp was not interested in responding to my enquiry even though they have a 48 hr customer response time in place. Its almost like "we've all lost money in our Super so suck it up..." no response required. I'm baffled how major banks like this can lose your money & then just shrug their shoulders (?)

I use Suncorp for my everyday banking and they are great! I find they dont have hardly any fees...the only ones are the monthly fee and if I print out a receipt at another banks atm. Thier internet banking is great and I feel really secure with them. I would highly recommend. Oh and they have a sub account with your everyday account which is 5.5% interest.

Over-priced and they know it! Last year, when I told them I was going to another provider ,they dropped my premium by over $100! But then the next year, it went straight back up again and then some! Clearly, they are overcharging for the service and they know it
