Wow! Talk about a zoo with a view - everywhere you turn amazing views of Sydney harbour! The animals are amazing, they have a huge variety - most variety I have seen in any zoo! From gorillas to meerkats to seals to giraffes! Very hilly place to walk. Also in my experience take public transport to get there- silly me parked in city and we took the ferry over. Well worth the price and the food wasn’t too bad either. Under $10 per meal however cokes were like $4 a bottle. The sky car included in price is also great to chillax and ride over one side of the zoo. Highly recommend for a family
To visit at least once!

Great place, my bro works there, the animals are simply adorable and you can't get enough of them. I help him often and love being there, so will you.

Perfect place for the kids and young at hearts. Seal and birds shows are my favorite. A good place to walk around as well. You can haggle good price for the lovely man driving the chuchu train if you are in group. I paid 20 bucks for us and we are group of 10. Always bring your water when you go there, otherwise its 4$ per bottle

We decided to visit Taronga Zoo for Valentine's Day this year & couldn't be happier with the decision to do so. We booked our day through Experience Oz and had our tickets & transport to and from Circular Quay sorted. It had been some time since I had seen Taronga Zoo & was very impressed with all the renovations. It still boasts a great atmosphere and brilliant displays & enclosures for the animals.

The meerkats, elephants & otters were particularly hilarious but I was very satisfied with the variety & amount of animals that were there. Be sure to arrive well before there feeding time though, anything after 2pm and most of them are in a big food coma.

The food & souvenirs were a bit pricey but that is always expected with such a venue. The view overlooking the city & the harbour was magnificent and if you can catch yourself there on a nice sunny day, it truly is a sight to be seen.

Overall it was a great experience & a memorable way to spend a Valentine's Day. Will definitely be heading back to the zoo again, maybe for a live musical performance at night or the Roar & Snore!

Approximate cost: $60 pp

This was my first ever visit to a zoo and I'm going back again soon seeing the animals so close and full of fun is just wow, highlight of the day was watching the sea lion show, even tho I got wet I love it and made the day even better. Cannot fault anything it's a well run organised business that is suitable for everyone

I love the fact that you can get to Taronga Zoo by using the Ferry! This would have to be the most beautiful set up of a zoo that I have ever seen. Lots of animals to see and their enclosures are absolutely stunning and inviting. Here I actually touched a snake for the first time!!! And never again!!! Haha. It is quite a small Zoo compared to some of the others and its on a hill which makes it very unique! They also have a ride like thing that takes you to the top of the zoo so you can work your way back down again for when you want to catch the ferry back again. I loved the atmosphere when I was there and I would happily fly to Sydney for the day just to go to Taronga Zoo.

Taronga zoo is a great place to bring your kids and to just have a relaxing day out. The place is realllly big so its obvious youll probably get lost but if your catching a ferry there from circular quay, you can get tickets when you get off and you can go up to the zoo in a safari and start from the top and slowly go down. The view is also great and there is a huge variet of animals living there which is great. A bit pricy though.

Love how the zoo sits so quaintly near the harbour, with spectacular views and bewildering animals. I feel as though its so beautifully out of place in a great way! The food/drinks are on the pricey side along with the tickets but they have to make money somehow!

Taronga Zoo is iconic and beautiful. Like most people I've been visiting since I was little, so it's nice taking a trip down memory lane. There is lots of animals and enclosures to see, and plenty of live shows. The food is a little pricey but that's to be expected. I look forward to my next visit.

This zoo is very well set out with all of the trails through the zoo. Take care though as there are some short cuts that can throw you out.

Most enclosures are well set up and the animals generally look happy.

There are parts of the zoo where you get excellent views of the harbour. The giraffe enclosure is one of the best.

It is great that they have preserved some older aspects of the zoo to show the contrast between the old ways and the new.

The bird show in the afternoon was highly entertaining, as was the seal show earlier in the day.

It took the whole day to get through the zoo and was quite tiring.

I recently went to the zoo on a school excursion, it was great, it wasn't too packed so we could see all the animals in time and didnt feel pressured.
Great views from the coffee shop, not much on the selection to buy from could do with more variety.
Great outdoor areas to sit and have lunch.
Toilets were very clean and presentable
A really good day out. Planning to take my own kids soon.

Great Zoo.... fantastic views of the Sydney Harbour a must for visitors from overseas. I have been coming here since a child and there has been some huge changes for the better. The animals are so looked after and cared for. It takes a full day to visit and make sure you have a hat and good walking shoes on lots of hills.

Ive been there quite a few times, although it does get boring seeing the same animals everytime. they have quite a large variety of animals and many different shows that are on in separate parts of the day which is good. normally very packed.

This is a fantastic way to spend an entire day with the family. It is on the pricey side, however there is more than enough to keep you going all day. You can buy food there or take some with you. The paths are all easy to access and the enclosures are clean.

Another great day out with the extended family. Once again everyone had a great time. The variety of animals was good and the seals performance was great. Loved watching the baby animals. The view from the top is excellent and we had no trouble parking outside the top entrance and walking down the zoo. Had to walk back up though as the chair lift was very busy. Had another quick lunch in the cafe area which has plenty of choice for all tastes. The zoo is well laid out so that even when busy there is little congestion.

Yeah I agree, I remember visiting as a kid on some school excursion or something. It looks a bit on the 'expensive side'.

Layout is confusing, I also think it is a bit over priced.

Wow, what a good day out with the kids! We had to start cutting some choices out as there is way too much to see and 9.30am to 4.30pm just isn't enough time. We may even buy annual passes as it is so much fun (good workout at the same time on those hills). All the enclosures are nice and clean, the staff around the grounds are friendly. They have no problem with you taking your own food in too which is good for families as the line up at the cafes were huge and expensive as they always are at theme parks etc. There are ramps everywhere to help with easy access with prams/wheelchairs. Best day out in a long time though!

Approximate cost: $130 for 6 people

An great place for a day out or if you have any overseas/interstate guests. It really is an amazing zoo compared to many other zoos overseas and the best in Sydney- it is based on a huge area and every time I go I never miss the wild-life shows!

I love going there with my husband and two daughters. The view is spectacular especially from the cable car. The enclosures are well kept and the information provided about the animals is very educational. The talks by zoo keepers are also very informative and enjoyable

Last week went to Taronga Zoo with the Family for the first time. Was impressed with the variety of animals etc. However may be bit difficult up / down stairs in a pram. However plenty of seating around for rests. I suggest bringing food/drink with you to save costs.

Great day out, the path is a little all over the place, you need the map to make sure you don't miss anything. Great seeing the 3 baby elephants. Its not a cheap family day out, entry $43 per adult & ferry cost us $20 in total each. Still worth seeing the great animals we have. Too bad there were only 2 seals... gorgeous view.

We did the "Roar and Snore" at Taronga. This is where you sleep over at the zoo and get taken on a behind the scenes tour of the zoo. The best parts were being able to go into the giraffe enclosure and feed them carrots as well as going into the bear enclosure (the bears weren't in there at the time) and hiding the food for the bears. A fun and family friendly activity that was different and exciting.

It's a bit complicated to get to and I've been to better but it's a good zoo and you can have quite an enjoyable albeit expensive day there - plenty to see and do.
