After my disappointment at a local cafes' lack of meat meal I desired, I went here for my steak fix and I definitely was not disappointed. My porterhouse steak was perfect, it went down well with a well deserved german beer. The waitresses were very friendly and had my steak ready in 20 minutes. I had been here before and tried their german sausages, but needed steak on the occasion.

Hahndorf certainly is the place to go if you are in need of some German food and this is one of the places we frequent quite often, especially if we have family over from interstate. My husband always enjoys trying the German beers and I just love their cheese kranskys and bratwurst snaggs. My husband ususally has the mixed grill or scotch fillet steak - always cooked to perfection. Our only issue with the meals has been that they are huge and I have never been able to finish mine. So you have to make sure you have an empty stomach when you go here. The menu is quite large, they don't just serve german meals they do the usual pub favourites as well like fish and chips, steak and of course schnitzels. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Most of the meals are quite expensive, the cheapest being around $25. They also serve breakfast, which is great for the tourists staying nearby.

Little German town in the middle of Adelaide. Nice and touristy with taste food. I ordered a 1 liter beer, after I finished I could barely walk. The food portions here are massive so make sure you go with someone that can stomach the food. I was pretty much done when I was half way through my beer. Could barely fit anymore food in. The food and beer is pricey but consider the atmosphere and the friendly staff, once in a while doesn't hurt :)

Lots of German beer. Can I stop the review here?? :0p

There's good food also and it's usually packed out with various Asians looking to frequent a good establishment. The prices I think are a bit steep, but the serving sizes are large and it's one of the only places around Adelaide that you can get this type of food.

If your after quality german food then this is your place. Everytime i come to hahndorf i always stop here. The food tastes amazing and will certainly fill you up. Nothing more perfect than on a hot summers day sitting down to a great german feed and a german beer to go with it.

We went their last weekend with 4 friends. We thought the restaurant will be busy since it's good weather so we made a booking in advance. But when we got there, they said there is no record of any booking made by us. Luckily we were able to find a table outside. Food was really, big quantity as well. A little pricey but hey it's Hahndorf… Good experience overall.

My first venture to this amazing German pub was New Years Eve 1999 and 13.5 years later it is still as amazing and friendly as it was then. We had the German Meat Platter for 2 for lunch and OMG it was protein overload :) It was well worth the money and well worth the experience even if we couldn't eat again till late that night.

My mouth is just watering thinking about eating here again.

Love Hahndorf, you have to drink schnapps, eat sausage, choose mustards and relish variety.

Great people, great service - can spend a few hours here before taking a wander in the historic German township and continue on with the Adelaide Hills / Barossa Valley wine trails...

Recommended - it is epic!

I go there at least Once a year to have a meal over there. Their platter is nice and its has sausage, pork knuckles, pretzels etc. I love the pork knuckle as it is juicy and tasty. If you are a visitor, you must have your lunch or dinner over there. Its good to book a table if you are planning to go during public holiday

This is the place to eat if you want to experience german food and beer. The menu is large with lots to pick from. I had a kransky with potato salad, pretzel and sauerkraut. I authentic beer to wash it down and I was super satisfied. It is very busy, there is seating inside and wooden tables and benches line the road. The waitresses wear dirndls which adds to the atmosphere. It did take awhile for our meal to come but they are really busy. The kids ordered a cheese burger that was huge, the size of a large bread roll and inch thick spicy patty. Out of the 4 kids we ordered for non of them ate it, sadly. Next time we will order the schnitzel. Only thing missing for me was the music. There isn't any music outside sadly, would have really topped my lunch off perfectly. Will definitely be going back soon, I loved it.

Girlfriends and I had late lunch in The Hahndorf Inn.. We had the chicken wings (12) + standard bowl of chips + Beer .. WOW the size was really huge .. worth every penny! however.. the service was not so nice.. the lady who served us .. she was so rough - by placing or putting the plate on the table really rough.. but overall it was good

Good quality pub meals, very generous servings and friendly atmosphere. The staff are helpful. They have a number of combustion fires making it a cozy place to stop for a meal or a drink.

Warning...this is not a place for vegetarians! The menu features meat, meat and more meat with many authentic German style fares and VERY generous servings. We went with a large group and the meals were a little slow to arrive but it was very busy and probably to be expected. The staff were friendly and the meals were generally well received amongst our group. The decor was looking a little tired but was warm and cosy and great for a casual family or group dinner.

The meals here are insane! The portions are massive and will definitely fill you up. Will definitely go back again. Had to wait a while to get a table, though because the place was packed. I would love to try to dessert here one day if I'm not to full after lunch - they look so yummy

After reading the previous reviews from WOMOW, i finally went to the Hahndorf yesterday, and become the customer of The Hahndorf Inn, i totally agree with others, the German style food here are outstandingly delicious, the German beers are unique and tasty, the staff are nice, polite and the price is reasonable too, we ordered the German Platter, which was enough for two of us with German grills, Pork Hock and with few selection of German sausages too, and we love the environment there as well, we will certainly go there regularly.

My partner and I had a platter that served 2 people and a wheat beer each, the steak was cooked to perfection as was the rest of the platter, the ribs were succulent, they just melted in your mouth. The staff were curteous, polite, professional and the food was served at the right temperature and we werent waiting around for very long to be served, the dining room/bar was tidy, the fireplace was going which gave a wonderful warm ambience to the stone and hardwood structure of the building. Definately will dine there again.

The big German Grill was enough for both my husband and I, plus they let us take home the leftovers! There's a good selection of German beers (and enormous glasses!) and the atmosphere is great - lovely open fires and lots of history. We couldn't eat such rich German food all the time, but we'll certainly come back again sometime!

the best German food in the country, we took a German friend of ours from sydney and even she liked it. we've taken every visitor to SA and they've all loved it, and excellent value for money, the best is one of their mixed platters, gives you the chance to taste different types of German sausages and the pork is to die for

the food was big, the beer was big, the atmosphere was big, it was the best, we had the ribs and it was 1kg of ribs and the sauce was on the side so you actually got 1 kg of ribs, not akg of sauce, it was great
