Decided one night to come to this old favourite, but we came a bit early so went to sit in the bar. The waitress came and got us when our table was ready and started off with a bottle of wine.
We order a steak and the duck which were both quite good flavoured, but not so impressive that it would make us want to go back any time soon.
The vibe was here and the atmosphere was here, but all night we thought it lacked a certain something... Not sure what it was.
My partner said the ladies' toilets were nice, but the gentleman's toilet was very bland and boring.

One of the best restaurants I have been too! The steaks are to die for, absolutely mouth watering delicious! I can not compare any other steak to the ones they serve here.

The desserts are also amazing and very fancy.

The place its self is beautiful decorated and the staff are exceptional! The meals can be a bit expensive but its great to treat yourself every now and then or if its a special occasion.

Its a very popular place so I would suggest you book prior to going, especially if its on the weekend as this place can book up weeks in advance (for the weekend).

They have a voucher in the entertainment book under the gold section for buy 1, get 1 free! I can't wait to go back again!

Wow the steaks here are excellent. Best I've had. The meat was so fresh and tender and it was cooked to perfection which is well done for me and not many chefs like to do that. Wine was exceptional as well

I have only eaten here once before but the food was very good. I bought a beef burger and chips. The burger was quite big and very tasty, but you really did not get very many chips at all. The service was fine but nothing to rave about. They used very fresh, quality ingredients, lovely warm bun, and the relish they used was divine. I was definitely a fan of the burger! I find the Lion can get a bit packed and when it is you can feel quite claustrophobic in there. Its a nice venue for the younger crowd, and although I am not old, I prefer cosy places with a great ambiance. I find it hard to appreciate good quality `anything` when a place is overcrowded and extremely loud. (Great for the venue, but not great for a relaxing meal.)

I went there with a group friends to celebrate a friends birthday. It was my first time going to this so called 'famous' fine dining restaurant in Adelaide. Although we went there during weekdays, the restaurant is full of patrons. luckily we made a reservations =). I love their waiting staff, always that friendly and good service. In terms of food, I ordered a medium well steak. Gosh, the meat and tender and not too overdone, just like what i like. The accompanying side dish were normal, nothing special.

We ate in the restaurant for our wedding anniversary and despite booking 2 days before we had a great table. The waiters were friendly and efficient although one did manage to mislay my entertainment card when we paid. The toilets habe been done up since I was last there and they are very funky.

On the food side of things we were not disappointed. The oysters were very fresh and the steaks cooked to perfection. The highlight however was the desserts. My husband had the churos which he loved and I had the Eaton Mess which was the best dessert I have had in years. Definitely interested in returning for dinner despite the price.

Approximate cost: $38

We ate in the restaurant that was near capacity, it's a bit of a squeeze, they could do with freeing up a bit of space, to make the dining experience a bit more pleasurable. The service was good, nothing too fancy pants, but worth the money you're paying. I got the steak, which I thought was enjoyable. I would be keen to go back, but not in a rush.

The Lion has been done up since I last went there (years ago) and it is fabulous. The beer garden has had a major transformation and there is a space to suit everyone. Seating outside for meals/drinks, dining area, inside drinks area and beer garden. Service at the bar is reasonably bar, clientele is pleasant and a DJ plays current music. Good for a Sunday session.

Just enjoyed a burger and beer deal in the bar at The Lion. Despite the beer garden allowing patrons to smoke in it, we had a great balmy evening munching our way thru some huge burgers that were so tasty!

The bathrooms are so cool, made the whole table go in and have a look. Busiest place on the street and can understand why with excellent staff, yummy food and actually decent live music. Just a bit more expensive at $8.50 for a bowel of fries, daily specials probably best way to go.

This sophisticated restaurant has an abundance of natural light flooding in from the stunning high glass windows fronting Jerningham Streer, filtered in summer by the stately Hackberry tree outside and in winter providing a warming conservatory feel.

Good vibe here. As a schnitzel lover I'm very hard to please - only coz it's hard to find a really good one - but am pleased to say that the schnitzels here are great. Other options good too. Good service, really like this place for a relaxed Sunday lunch.

the quality of the food at the Lion is fantastic, I have been there a few times and have always been impressed with the food and service. I had the best scotch fillet steak which melted in my mouth. Its a bit pricy but great discount when you use the entertainment book.

My work had their xmas function at the cellars, its a great venue for private functions. The cellars is such a great set up, with dancefloor booths and bar. The cocktail finger food was superb, you have to try their mini burgers they are sooo delicious. The function coodinator is very organised and attends to your every needs. A1 quality food.

I have attended several functions at the lion and always been impressed with the food, service and atmosphere. Finger food and sit down meals are consistently good - not a fine dining experience but also much better than your average pub food. Good selection of wines and spirits and the live music is great too. Love the lion for an after work drink or casual dinner with friends.

The food is always superb at the The Lion. I had the best scotch fillet steak, it melted in my mouth. Even though its a bit expensive if you have the entertainment book, you get buy one get one free which is such a great saving if you get steak. I have been to many private functions at the Lion and the food has always been top class, love their mini burgers in their hot finger food packages. Their cellars are a great place for a private function.

I took my Leo daughter to The Lion for her birthday. I ordered a seafood/pasta combination, and was it was delicious. My daughter had a scotch fillet that was cooked to her liking, and very tender. The prices are a bit high, but go there for a special occassion, as a treat.

The food was great. I don't even think we booked to get in, we just turned up. It was a little bit fancy, but not so much to make you uncomfortable, and the food wasn't cooked heaps quickly, but I guess you get that, if it's cooked well.

As far as hotels are concerned, the Lion is among the best for the quality and range of food, and service. Originally bought to our attention with their 'beer and burger' meal deal advertisements, we have visited it several times since. Their tomato and goats curt tart is delicious, although they're known for their high quality steaks (my boyfriend agrees!). Definitely worth dropping in for a meal and a drink.

Had a work dinner recently at the Lion and the service was sensational - the steaks are highly recommended and mine personally was excellent yet several of my fellow diners were disappointed with the quality of the cut of meat (fatty and grisly) which was disappointing - however most had been there before and had 10/10 meal so would visit again
