Went on a Friday night for dinner, 3 people. Only about 6 tables occupied. Waiters were very slow at taking orders for drinks, and about 20 minutes to take food orders. Ordered scotch and dry, but the dry was flat. No offer to replace just that they would fix it next time. Second was flat too still no offer to replace, just oh ok we will let them know. We ordered a share platter for two ($70), very nice, lots of variety, flavour's were delicious. Mains, soft shell crab on Asian salad, crab was slightly warm and mostly batter, placed on raw cabbage. 40 day aged scotch fillet with caramelised onion and bacon. Tough steak, and nothing else. Garlic and chilli prawns on a tomatoe and avocado salad. ($40) for 9 frozen and overcooked prawns. Overall very disappointed with this restaurant. Overpriced meals that are bland and unexciting. Service is poor, care factor is zero. lovely views and location, but this is not enough to get this restaurant on my will go again list. $350 for dinner for 3 people definitely not worth it.

Approximate cost: $40

Had a wonderful lunch dining experience at the Red Herring when a friend brought me here on my birthday. The seafood was fresh and wonderfully prepared, and the main course was delicious. Being a huge dessert person, I was delighted by their dessert platter which includes different selections of desserts (it was wonderful!). The restaurant is situated on the river and it was a lovely venue to enjoy lunch. The Red Herring is a great place to come for special occasions, particularly if you like seafood.

Enjoyed a work lunch at this restaurant with a truly spectacular view of the river. While waiting for the rest of the group to arrive a colleague and I enjoyed drinks by the bar. We were ushered to our table and the waitstaff was very helpful in arranging extra chairs for a few last minute arrivals. The atmosphere was relaxed and classy, decor minimal but sufficient. We all enjoyed our meals including dessert. Prices were little steep but expected. Parking was easy to find just outside the restaurant.

It was my first time in Perth and a supplier brought myself and a colleague to Red Herring after he told us how great the restaurant is. Indeed ambiance was great, set nearby the river and it was a 4 star restaurant to me. Food was great, i had the green curry fish dish with rice, dessert and some Japanese entree. Overall a classy and pricey restaurant for those who wish to splurge out $$ to dine with loved ones or for some special occasion.

Went to a friends wedding reception here and it was amazing. The location on the river front is superb as the views of the river are simply stunning. Magnificent service and very professional. Food of very high quality and decor very modern.would highly recommend

Took my mum here for dinner when she came to visit. Stunning View probably nicer for breakfast or lunch when you can see. was a little dark at 9pm...

Meals are priced well and look amazing! However both my meal and my mums were warm at best.

Would probably go back again and hope that the food was a little hotter next time.

Approximate cost: $35

I'm a big fan of the Red Herring for breakfast. I was expecting it to be too fancy for breakfast but the food on offer was impressive - particularly the freshly baked muffins. I would definitely go there again for breakfast. I haven't eaten their in the evening.

Would recommend it. May be a bit biased as the person i was with knew the manager, however! The food was great, the service was perfect along with the prices of the food for a location where it is. Has been a half a year since i have been there, but my friends still say it is as good as it was the last time.

Approximate cost: $26

In a nutshell, if you like seafood then you will like this place. My parterns favourite dish from here in the crispy skinned barra, he reckons he's never had a better bit of barra. There are still options for non-seafooders. I had a thai green curry which was well cooked for a essentially seafood restaurant. Staff were lovely and friendly, very pricey but it's good food so it was ok

Came here for breakfast - it was great and the views even better. Service was attentive and swift. The decor is modern and the dining room set up to take full advantage of the beautiful view across the water. They serve yummy coffees too!
