Great cafe to catch up with relatives. The hot chocolate is so delicious, probably the best I have had in BRISBAME!!
The cakes here are to die for. I recommend you try them all. They are expensive, but so worth it. Love love love this Cafe!
Fantastic atmosphere yummy coffee and cakes
A west end institution. Still a great place to catch up
Food is very yummy and staff is very nice. sometimes it is a long time to wait though
My high score is for the atmospheric charm of the place. The outdoor area is nice. The food and drinks is so high quality but I'm still traumatised by them getting rid of mango daiquiri cheesecake years ago. Its biggest flaw is the expensive prices
Love this place. Its main drawbacks are that it is so popular that it is getting crowded and the outdoor seating is not very good quality.
On the other hand food is great, drinks are varied and suits everyone's tastes (the coffee in a bowl is a popular option).
If you go early you can often find a little space for a quiet conversation. Even when it gets busier you may be lucky and secure these spots.
It also stays open fairly late.
This place is fantastic, great coffee and service. As you walk in it's a funky little cafe then you walk out the back, the ambience is amazing. I would definitely recommend this place.
This place is definitely worth a visit, very consistent and always good service. We come back again and again, weekends need a bit more time so if you can go weekdays, that's the go.
love this place, my 2nd home. delicious drinks and food and dessert. great atmosphere
Thanks guys for another great experience. Enjoy the ambience every time. It's a great place to meet friends. More veg options would be ideal. Love the hugs chai mug
It's a great place to meet up with friends or just get out of the house. Warning though, it's really popluar on the weekend because it's placed close to the markets. Both the food and the coffe and very nice and the staff are very friendly and welcomng
pretty good. however, went there expecting the usual branch menu but they only have cakes, sandwich, pizza, lasagna. Ordered the focaccia bread with cream cheese and smoked salmon.. it was awesome!! and the hot chocolate was perfect for such chilly weather. every1 recommended their cakes but was too full to try it.
This place has been around for a very long time. It is such a great icon of West End. A cozy cool unique setting... I love the Chai bowls! They always have the best selection of freshly baked cakes in the window. A little pricey at $7 a slice but a decent slice to be shared. A very basic toasted sandwich and pizza menu too. Sometimes hard to find a spot on a Friday or Saturday night and the line up is out the door somedays...
Approximate cost: $5-15
This place is a bit of a West End institution. I love that it's like a rabbit warren inside - all dark decor and twisty paths leading to quite an airy outdoor seating area.
You order and pay at the front counter and then your food is brought to you. I always go for the cakes so I can't comment on anything savoury. The cakes though - delicious, especially when served with a bucket sized cup of chai tea. Value is not especially fantastic but the quirkiness of the location makes up for it.
I love that there is a selection of board games you can pick up and take to your table. They don't rush you in and out which is odd for such a prime West End location.
Definitely worth a visit.
thanks for sharing!
Three Monkeys is a nice little coffee shop in West End. Unlike a lot of the places in West End it is tucked away a bit, which makes for a less trafficked feel.
Depending on your attitude, the place is either cosy or pokey. The service is pretty good - like all cafes it can get busy, and at these times you might have to wait a bit longer. Still, it's not as crazy as some of the places down the road.
I've been going to west end on and off for ten years and this cafe has been here as long as that.its still there because its successful, due to it being a great little cafe.the place is extremely cool, laid back vibe, looks really relaxed, service is friendly and lovely.the food and drinks are always good, price is great not as exxy as most places in west end.i"ll go as long as they're open!
We came here for tea/coffee and dessert - tea was just $3.90 per pot which is cheaper than most places i know - wide variety of cakes - and all of gigantic sizes! unless you're hungry you are unlikely to finish it! The place has a rustic feel, only problem was it felt quite stuffy sitting inside.
I use to go here all the time but haven't been in years, will have to visit again soon, thanks for the review.
This place has been around for so many years and has maintained its comfortable, slighly bohemian feel. It always has a great atmosphere. The service from the staff can very greatly however. I have a feeling that they use a lot of backpackers. The service can either be great or very average.
Approximate cost: $12
Great food, wonderful and exotic ambiance this cafe has; takes you away to another world. Highly recommend a visit and the nachos are delicious. Big group or small this cafe has friendly and thoughtful staff
Three Monkey's is probably one of the best known cafes in West End, which is a pretty impressive claim as West End has a glut of decent places to have coffee and breaky.
Three Monkeys has a distinct hippy vibe and inside it is dark with lots of timber and tables with couches - their back courtyard is large and cosy. The best thing on the menu here is their famous chai tea, which comes in a soup bowl. It's that great authentic chai that isn't excessively sweet and is nice and milky. They have decent coffee too.
We ate here and the meals are good value - my lamb and rosemary filo was divine (however I must say I was disappointed with the salad, which was simly julienned carrot, tomato, cucumber and lettuce, with a very generic tasting Italian dressing over the top - bleh), and the sandwiches my friends ordered were tasty and filling. Menu has a great range. Lots of delicious looking cakes too.
When it comes to my cafes, I like my food to be a little more different and unique, but I think I'd love to use this place as a reliable coffee catch up place - having those chais to drink would be a great way to wean myself off coffee.
Approximate cost: $12
Great detailed review. Was usefu; for me to read as while I have been there before we only had the pizzas!
A great place to relax with a coffee. They have a large assortment of fresh cakes as well as a great food menu. The atmosphere is very relaxed. Both the outside/inside areas are beautifully done.
This place is nothing short of godly. The atmosphere is freaken amazing. The coffee and their tea is a fair fight for better then sex. The staff are amazing. The prices are resonable and the quality of everything is spectactular! Well done!
Approximate cost: $17.50
Fantastic little cafe, great to catch up with girls or family, highly recommend the little place to anyone
Approximate cost: $12.00
Such a busy busy little cafe - and such a cool spot to hang out and chat.
Coffee-wise its pretty much just "OK" - food-wise though they have a great selection of panini's and Turkish breads, the pizzas are great and the grilled haloumi platter is my favourite.
BUT - lining up for ever is annoying so they can take your order, and the fact they don't accept eftpos is pretty annoying.

I went on a Sunday night in May with two of my daughters for dessert. Normally a coffee drinker I decided to try chai latte as they brew their own chai tea rather than use powder or syrup. We chose red velvet cake and raspberry almond cake to share between three of us. Although when you first enter the place looks small and busy there is a lot more seating round a side wall and down the back leading outside to a courtyard. It is great for people watching as you'll see such an eclectic mix of people - students, artists, business people. The chai was for me probably an acquired taste, being more used to coffee, it was a little more subtle in flavor but maybe I need to try more of them. The red velvet cake was absolute heaven! I sincerely hope it is regularly available at this cafe. I would return again for the red velvet cake and the experience of dining at this quirky location.
I usually go here just for their chai teas (served in a bowl) and their new york baked cheesecake. They do a good lunch spread as well. The coffee is pretty ordinary.
The atmosphere is very cosy and intimate, especially the outdoor seating area, very secluded.
A great cafe full of character. Had a wonderful iced mocha and split a pizza with friend. Hood great and prices v good. Service fast and pleasant place to sit and chill.
may be this is a place that the trans girlss could meet and not the coffee club after reading a review like this keep up the good work
I had an amazing chai tea here, so generous with their serving size for what you pay! Plus such a wonderful atmosphere with an eclectic mix of decor
