This park is not set up to impress you with high-tech Effects.
It exists to look after Australian wildlife and it does a magnificent job. They rehabilitate injured animals, and the guided tour give you a great insight into the wonderful work they are doing. They let you hold a wombat (I want one!!) and explain the amazing natural behaviours of the animals they care for. We learned so much about, especially, wombats and Tassie devils by going around with the guy who runs the place.
Try to go at devil feeding time (mid to late afternoon for us) to observe how they co-operate with each other. The guide went into the devils' pen while they were feeding! I would never imagined it would be possible for a sane person to do that. But my opinion of devils has changed, now I understand their place in the ecosystem. They are incredibly useful animals and we need to see them repopulate the island.
Please go and support this cause. Pay the money for the tour and help them keep doing their fantastic work!

Sounds like a wonderful place and I hope I get a chance to go there one day. Thanks for the info.

Well what can i say this wildlife park is excellent. We have been there a couple times over the years and never get bored with going. Although it is not a zoo i think it is better as all the animals here are native Tasmanian animals except for the koala and they look after a lot of injured or orphaned animals. We have done the tour as well as walked around ourselves and found that the tour is a lot better. The tour guide was very passionate about his work and very informative. You could tell that all the staff love working with the animals. My daughter loved having a cuddle of the wombat she thought it was awesome. We got to hand feed the kangaroos and wallaby's which was pretty good but i think the best bit was seeing the devils being fed, that was pretty cool. There is a picnic area with BBQ so you can take some food and make a day of it. Although it cost $20 for adults and $10 for kids i didn't mind paying it as i know it all goes back into to help care for the injured animals
