This business is completely unethical and immoral.
COVID-19 caused the postponement of my sons 21st. Every supplier for this event has suspended its service until further notice without any fee.
This business took the full amount from the holding credit card regardless of the email agreement that we would pay on the night.
Obviously the business was pooling in al monies holding knowing full well COVID-19 was about to suspend their income to future events.
Then the business tried to say due to already occurring costs like test and tag electrical equipment that we couldn’t get full monies or hold it for future event.
It’s now been a full month and finally the business refuses any responsibility and wants to charge us an extra $200 to reschedule.
Untrustworthy unethical and unprofessional.

We appreciate your patience and understanding during delays in our response times. As further restrictions come into place Ultima Music has been required to operate with skeleton staff. After consideration of available evidence it was found that the staff members of Ultima Music have handled your case in accordance with the Australian Consumer Law and our Terms and Conditions. As you are aware, your request for postponement was made prior to the ban on public gatherings. Despite this, a reduced fee was provided as a gesture of understanding and goodwill. Up until this point we have only received good reports with no complaints with regard to these policies by other customers that requested postponement during the ban. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you require further assistance, such as with any future events.

That response is not good enough. Ultima Music is sqabbling over one day. Ultima Music was notified by my family the day before COVID-19 official restrictions were placed. Everyone knew that week that COVID-19 restrictions were going to be imposed.
If an event cannot go ahead due to coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions, this may be a frustrated contract. This means it is impossible to carry out the contract due to events beyond the control of all parties. In this situation, consumers are entitled to a refund for any services not provided.

This is a quote from the Australian Consumer Affairs website so infact Ultima Music is not acting in accordance with the Australian Consumer Law as you state.
Your good will to discount the reschedule fee is a joke. Your terms and conditions on your website do not include anything related to rescheduling.
Perhaps your business usually gets positive results because everything has occurred as planned. Perhaps if that had been the situation with our family party we too would provide positive feedback. Your business is the only supplier that is trying to hide behind the detail of COVID-19 restrictions to validate the automatic removal of the full cost from my bank account.
Its interesting to note that the first reasons for taking our money are not the reasons now.

Highly disappointed. This has to be the worst child entertainment/DJ around.

The DJ who came to our place on 8 Dec 2019 (James) for my daughter's 10th birthday party has no idea of what he was doing.

- He just put on music with his ipad and did nothing else.
- He brought along a trainee and kept chatting to her the whole time
- He did not know how to entertain kids and had no idea on engaging kids
- He stood behind the speakers and never stepped out
- The kids kept complaining of getting bored and parents in the party thought he was hopeless and never seen someone this bad.
- We prompted him to entertain kids multiple times but to no avail.
- We told him about a couple of fun things to do with the kids (which is did) and then stopped again.

We did reach out to the Ultima music to provide feedback but they seemed to think this is their format and what he did is expected from their performers.

Don't waste your time and money on these guys. Just play your own music instead.

They charged us $400 for 1.5 hours too!!!!!

The DJ, James, is an experienced and professional staff member. Our DJs use professional and high quality DJ equipment. You had mentioned that the DJ had used an iPad at your event on the 08/12/2019. Our records show that the staff member did not see cause to use a mobile device (such as a phone or an iPad), during your event on the 01/12/2019.

Use of our equipment requires training and a degree of skill. As you are aware, a DJ provides an extensive range of music while reading the crowd and mixing. Our Children's DJs are trained and experienced in providing services and engaging with children at events. As per any trade, our staff members undergo on the job training in order to provide the high quality service that we endeavor to provide our clientele.

As an optional upgrade to our Children's DJ services, the DJ can play games with the kids. This does not negate the primary DJ service. The DJ had engaged with the children and played up to 3 - 4 games. As a DJ, the staff member is required to operate the equipment from behind the booth in order to provide music and other DJ services. Providing a quality DJ service while engaging in games requires a high degree of expertise, which the DJ did deliver.

We also offer Children's Entertainer services, such as staff members that purely focus on games or storytelling. All of these services incur a cost to the company. We do not make a great deal of profit with most given to the staff that provide the work. I hope you will take this into considerationand see that we have not increased the pricing in anyway that is unreasonable, it's only because of the additional services that have been required.

We had offered you a refund based on good gesture. We regret to hear that you have opted to refuse the refund, despite our best efforts to reach an agreement. We wish you all the best in the future and hope you will consider us for any further services.

Very disappointed. The dry ice didnt even cover a third of the floor- as quickly as it came out- it dissipated. Expressed my concern to the guy and his answer was to move up to the middle of the floor!! Same problem just different position- absolutely nowhere near enough coming out of the machine. Total ripoff of $350 and would never use them again! Margaret

The operator for your event had followed his training to achieve the best results possible. The dry ice machine was operating as designed. When confirming details and upon arrival we request that fans be switched off and windows closed. This is to minimise drafts, as this affects the density of the dry ice cloud. The operator had mentioned that this was not done. Our prices are very competitive, and as you can imagine there is very little profit.

The DJ was amazing!, he really had everyone on the dance floor and shaking it which I have always wanted for my wedding, all my dreams had come true on this day out and it was really amazing I couldn’t ask any more from this Company

You’re master of ceremonies was AMAZING. Right from the get-go he introduced himself, was very charming, spoke with confidence and precision and yeah. He organised everything like it was nothing and therefore my wedding ran smooth as! Also I think you’re customer service team was great in a sense that they we’re really quick to sort everything out for me and everything was organised within a couple of days.
