Be careful, these people are only booking agents, they will commit to dates, then if they cant sub contract the work out, they will try and change the dates. If you have paid a deposit to them and have to find another mover to suit your timeline, they will keep 25% of your deposit [redacted]. The T's & C's are very one sided, be warned.

United Movers who used A & B removalists for my interstate removal from Melbourne to Queensland.

DO NOT USE THESE REMOVALISTS!!!!!! My experience with them was a complete nightmare from start to finish.
The packers did not turn up to do the pre-pack until 6pm then left 45minutes later because they ran out of boxes. they had to return the next after I had left Melbourne, & complete the pre-pack under the supervision of my 21 year old daughter.

The next problem was they totally underestimated the amount of space would be needed to fit my goods on, even though I had given them an inventory. so they only transported Half my goods & put the rest in storage until there was another truck which could bring them up. My goods were in storage for around 10 days. Before they would release my goods they asked for more money which I had to pay or they wouldn't have put my goods on a truck.
When I finally received all my goods & began unpacking, there so many breakages I lost count. A lot of things like table lamps were just thrown into boxes without any padding. The one that upset me the most was an outdoor timber table which was brand new but was totally ruined with scratches & scrapes on the top & gauges out of the wood. To me it looked like it had been placed top down on the truck with no padding. I also had an antique corner unit that had bits broken off it. Some of my belongings just disappeared & never turned up.

And don't bother taking out insurance because when you make a claim they just say the goods were already damaged when they picked them up, CHOOSE A DIFFERENT REMOVALIST!!!

Approximate cost: $3500

Hi, Thanks for your question. United Movers are a brokerage service business and use sub-contracted removals companies to perform the relocation aspect of the booking. United Movers advertise and make the booking with the customer. Then a relevant contractor that is able to do the move is contracted. So it depends of where the move is to and from that determines which contractor is used. There may be a number of contractors that do that particular run but not all will be able to accommodate the schedule, so the most appropriate company is chosen. This saves the customer ringing around to multiple removals companies trying to find someone that is able to facilitate all the necessary criteria for the move. We have asked the customer to advise what items are missing but have not yet been contacted regarding this. Regards, United Movers

Hi,

Re United Movers:

Yes they used a contractor called A2B Movers. My impression was that this contractor was under enormous pressure from United Movers to get the work done, & they were doing 4 - 5 pick ups & deliveries every day, which they struggled to keep up with, which is partly why my goods came up in 2 lots & weren't adequately padded in the truck. They used young blokes to do the packing & clearly they had no idea how to pack. One of them asked me what a porta-robe was.

No I never recovered my goods which went missing. When the truck arrived at my new address & the guys were unloading my goods, they gave me several items which were not mine, including a very nice armchair. So I assume some of my goods were delivered to some other customer's address. (I was honest about the items which weren't mine & they took them back. Unfortunately I never got my goods back).

I hope this helps.

Regards,
Clair.
