I've been a Client of their's for over 6years and until recently was fairly satisfied with their service albeit a little pricey but hey, if the service is better than the rest then its ok to pay a little more.
I had to put my Bolwell Firenz 250 scooter in for a 50K service. The total cost came to a tad over $1000. It was a major service with belt and rollers being changed etc.
Not 2 weeks after the service, I end up breaking down on the Monash freeway and had to get it collected and taken into the city. The collection was $250. I was told that the belt had been torn due to a problem with the sheave. But wait a minute, shouldn't that have been picked up during the service? "Its a grey area" I was told, "Well yes and no" he added. OK, so I forked out another $100+ to replace the belt and sheave. "We haven't charged labour as a gesture of goodwill". OK fair enough, but I'm still $350+ down which included the pick-up on the Monash.
About three weeks later, the belt started to go again. It was rideable but was very noisy and very slow. I called up and was told to get it into the workshop for them to take a look at yet again. Before I could get it to the workshop, I had some chest pains late one afternoon and decided to try and ride it to the hospital Emergency department. The belt went completely on the way and I was left at the side of the road. I managed to get a lift from my wife to the hospital to find out that I'd had a heart attack. A couple of weeks and one heart surgery later, I contact the workshop to explain that the belt had gone completely and I wasn't happy to 1) Pay for the belt yet again and 2) to have to pay for the collection of the scooter back to the workshop. Jason who had been handling this from the beginning insisted that it was impossible for them to accept liability and managed to come up with another excuse for why the belt might have gone yet again.
So far, I have spent approximately $1400 for the service, 2nd replacement belt, replacement sheave and collection from side of freeway. Now I am looking at paying another $250 plus another replacement belt!! Are they crazy? Thats more than the scooter is worth these days. Sorry Yamaha City, you've lost my custom, you've blown it for me and besides, I don't want to have get myself all worked up and end up with another heart attack because of you.

UPDATE: I was requested that I give them the chance to make things right and allow them to try and once and for all repair the scooter gratis. Its currently still in the workshop and I'm waiting a call to advise that it has been repaired. I'm glad that they have extended the courtesy to try and rectify the problems. Apparently, they are going to replace the whole engine with one with less KM's. I will update this post once I'm back on the road.

Approximate cost: $1400 to date
