OMG AMAZING. As soon as you walk in you are greeted with wonderful chocolate displays, amazing smell and free samples!!!
You can watch the chocolates being made through a very generous glass window, peruse through a great selection and enjoy a delectable treat indoors or outdoors. Huge outdoor space to let kids run around after a sugar high ;) Very busy on weekends!
The chocolate snakes and hot chocolate are a must at this amazing venue. It is a decadent stop on your travels around the region. It is always super busy. Not the cheapest chocolate in town though.[redacted]
My favorite hangout in Yarra Valley. This have have everything chocolate - it's a chocolate heaven. I love the Chocolate brownie at the cafe- served with dipping chocolate and ice cream. Also, love the maple and bacon ice cream, yum.
My husband and I were visiting family recently when we decided to pay these guys a visit as I am a true lover of all things chocolate. With so much choice of delicious quality chocolate it certainly wasn' t easy, so we made use of the samples to help us make a decision. Very friendly staff, delicious sweet treats, worth the drive.
Found an advertisement for this wonderful indulgent spot at the tourist information site. Went for a tour of the Yarra Valley and stopped here. As it was school holidays it was so busy and parking was difficult. Amazing chocolate products available and it was still coming up to Easter. Enjoyed the tasting treats and also the very large icecream I purchased. So many flavours to choose from. My husband's milkshake apparently was great too. I bought my icecream inside at the cafe and the queue was much shorter than the one outside.
We must have just missed each other, my husband and I paid them a visit just a few days prior to you. We purchased way tooo much chocolate for our family and ourselves.
This place is wonderful! They have an incredible selection of high quality chocolates, sample tastings, and plenty of indoor and outdoor areas to sit and enjoy the chocolate delights from the Cafe. The hot chocolate is the best I have ever had. So decadent and creamy. Highly recommend a visit here.
Great family atmosphere where you can enjoy a nice lunch and run around the huge grass areas playing a bit of cricket or kicking soccer balls. Sampling chocolate is fantastic as well as watching the machines processing it through the glass window.
amazing chocolates! quite expensive but given their quality and how they're locally made they're most definitely worth it! ice creams are quite nice as well, and i love the open window setting where you can see how they make the chocolates from scratch!
I have no complaints about this place, I often take people to the Chocolaterie to show off the beautiful surrounds and delicious chocolate and you'll want to brag about finding it to. Often extremely busy on weekends you need to be careful when picking the right time to come if you intend to sit down and have a meal at the cafe that features both al fresco and indoor dining. Seats go very very quickly. The scenery is just beautiful of course, set in the picturesque hills of the yarra valley- it's practically worth the trip just for that view.
As for the food at the cafe everything I have ever ordered is delicious, a favourite of mine is the fondue set served with plenty of sweets and fruit and you have to try the hot chocolate which comes with real melted chocolate to pour in to your milk. The chocolate store is big and full of all sorts of things you wouldn't expect, they have gourmet chocolate, even some body products and always great seasonal gifts. You can even watch some of the chocolate being made thanks to a giant glass wall that looks in to the factory. It's just a treat to go here every time.
everything is in here!
this is a beautiful place to take guests. the grounds are beautiful there is balls and toys for the kids to use whilst they run around the green grasses area overlooked by the outdoor eating area. very well designed. the staff are friendly and the free chocolate samples are great. I've only had the sweet food there but it's delish. the only thing is I really don't like there truffle selection in the glass case u buy individually so try one or two before u buy a heap I bought ten and didn't like any!!! the toilets are beautiful gorgeous place to visit. large deck area so even when it's packed u normally find a table
love the outdoor area - it's so family friendly!
This place gets really busy but it is worth it. The chocolate taste great and the sugar free chocoalate taste fantastic. They put on a great Easter hunt for the kids at Easter, always worth popping into if you are in the area.
i went during the long weekend and the place was packed!
A nice experience but if like me you don't appreciate crazy busy best to visit here during the week if you can. It is a little expensive but I did enjoy the chocolate so as a treat it is acceptable. I would go back but not over a weekend as it is just to hectic and the staff seems overwhelmed at times, not that you can blame them as is it just crazy busy.
Great place to come for breakfast, a light lunch, home made ice cream or just sample there chocolate. You can watch them make the chocolates, and the children get a chance to have a go to. Lots of different goodies for sale (like jams. chutneys, soaps and art work). Set in amongst a wine region , with lovely lawns to just take in the view.
Approximate cost: $varies
This place can be bad if your addicted to chocolate like me, situated in the beautiful Yarra Glen, they have free chocolate tastings, ice creamery, cafe and shop. Over 35 varieties of chocolates as well as chocolates that the kids like too. We shared a really good chicken pizza and enjoyed a ice cream for dessert at the ice creamery. Good day out will come here again one day for sure
Sounds great! Will have to try here soon. Love chocolate and icecream!
amazing chocolate, i love the noughat with cherry and pistacio . Gift boxes make great presents. Friendly staff and delicious food. They sell soaps, tea, lots of cakes , and beautiful decorated chocolates.
This place must be relatively new as it wasn't here last time I was at the Yarra Valley. Very popular on weekends with heaps of family and kids. Love their ice cream and huge servings too. There are help yourself chocolate tastings of white, milk and dark button chocolates. The chocolate itself does not taste as nice as Lindt, Haighs, nor even cadbury. They are quite expensive too. Nice place to hang around for a dessert or icecream but give the chocoaltes a miss
This place is really nice! The gardens are lovely or the kids to play! We had ice cream while on our visit and they were great value and really tasty! Lots of chocolate to choose from in the gift shop! I would say the only downside is it can get really busy!
ALL I CAN SAY IS WOW if you have not already been this is a must have to visit, the chocolate is just divine, a little overpriced but totally worth it
sounds good!
Went here last Thursday for my boyfriends birthday who loves chocolate... OH MY, although we left with chocolate overload, it was a great day with happy service and reasonable prices for what you got... even their pizzas were good
Approximate cost: $20
hello
i tried to go here today but it was too packed. i suggest maybe a mid week trip not a sunny sunday afternoon. upon walking in there are 3 enormous bowls of chocolate buds that you can help yourself too. this chocolate was delciious. the store is enormous and had a fantastic array of gifts and merchandise. we did not try and order any food as the place was just too busy.
If you want a fun day out, this place caters for children. Free chocolate samples...yummy ice cream. Worth the drive. There is a cafe. If you want to miss the hoard of children, visit mid week, where its less noisy. I did find the chocolate, although yummy, a little on the pricey side
If you like chocolate & ice cream, check this place out,so much chocolate to try and buy. You can even watch them make the chocolate. They have desserts, home made ice cream and much more. nice and friendly staff.can Its a bit over priced.
I drove past this establishment on the way up North a little while back and decided to take the chocolate-crazy Mrs there for a treat weekend before last. The crowds are huge on the weekend but the store itself is quite large to accommodate this. The chocolate making area at the back has a glass wall so you can watch the goings-on. There is a huge selection of chocolates, and free sample chocolate! There's a cafe on the front side but we didn't use that. We did however buy $20 of individual chocolates and i have to say, they were very nice. Expect to pay, but in this case you get what you pay for. The setup is great, well thought out, heaps of space for kids to play and get rid of excess energy. Staff are friendly. EFTPOS facilities available. Check it out.
The atmosphere at the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery is fresh clean and modern. Like what you would expect Willy Wonka's chocolate factory to look like designed by a contemporary architect.
The grounds are gorgeous and well tended. Then you go inside and it's a a chocolate wonderland. The first thing you see are three GIANT bowls of chocolate Dark, Milk and White chocolate buttons. Free flow taste and they don't seem to run out. We were there on a Sunday and it was packed and STILL those bowls of chocolate were kept piled high.
The Cafe serves up all sorts of chocolaty and ice cream treats. We were there as a party of 6 so we ordered a selection, The Ice cream sundae, Waffles, Vanilla Scone with cream and jam, the chocolate brownie and I also ordered a Hot Chocolate (Dark).
Everything was great and the Sundae was HUGE. The prices weren't on the cheap side but pretty much expected for a touristy specialty shop location. We unanimously agreed that the Scones were the best in taste and value, followed by the Sundae then the waffles and brownie (which was a little on the over sweet side... but then again it's a brownie!)
The shop sells the usual chocolate bars, pralines, chocolate freckles etc... but I was very impressed to find a range of chocolate teas! We bought 2 to try but was very impressed at how delicious they were. Flavours in Peppermint Choc and Exotic Choc (the only one we didn't get was the Chai Choc) they are on the pricy side for tea ($10.95-$11.95) but very refreshing and quite yummy.
We grabbed a few handfuls of chocolate buttons on the way out. Feeling very chocolate satisfied and delightfully buzzed from all that sugar.
Approximate cost: $12
A chocolate wonderland is right up my alley!
We visited many chocolate shops on our trip to Victoria but this one was by far the best. Huge vats of chocolate samples in white, milk and dark - no need to ask just help self. And the chocolate was delicious. Can watch the chocolatiers making the chocolate right in front of you. Huge vats of creamy dreamy chocolate being molded into various shapes and sizes. Also hard lollies and brittles. Then there is the ice creamery. Not for those on a diet. Reasonable prices and warm friendly staff who encourage you to try the samples without making you feel uncomfortable. All I can say is yum.
Approximate cost: $15
Having read several blogs and seen pictures of the yummy creamy icecream, chocolates and seen them on postcards I was excited to go here and indulge in a chocolate fix.
Opened only a few months ago, the views are stunning.
They have white, milk, dark chocolate pastilles in big bowls and you just help yourself.
The milk and white were yummy, creamy.
They also have staff bringing out choclate covered ginger, rockea road out on trays for customers to try.
Since we went so close to easter they had one of the chocolatiers creating a giant chocolate bunny, various other easter chocolatey goodness.
They have all types of chocolate coated things including nougat, truffles, cararmels, freeze dried strawberries, licorice, peanut brittle etc.
They also have ice cream which they make on site that is very creamy, delicious and they have flavours other than chocolate.
There is also a cafe, toilets in the chocolaterie.
The cafe has an extensive menue made up of drinks (hot, cold) hot savoury food, many desserts.
The blueberries they were using on the desserts were the smallest blueberries I have ever seen.
You have to line up at the counter to order and pay for your food and they bring it out to you.
The desserts looked amazing
I ordered the triple chocolate mousse,
which was good but the white layer had grainy texture to it.
My friend ordered the waffles, berries, vanilla bean icecream,
which she thoroughly enjoyed.
Overall a wonderland of chocolatey goodness that has me drooling thinking about it.
We both left with lots of yummy goodies to take home with us.
You really made me want to go here to sample some of these treats. Sounds like a great holiday destination for Easter, thanks for sharing.
Amazing chocolates and deserts, they need more seating though been there a few times and struggle to get a table on the weekends because it is so good everyone wants to go there ...cant think of a better way to spend my lazy sunday than have a nice chocolate and a delicious ice cream or desert. I am a big fan of the chocolate brownie desert, coffee, and ice creams..nice location, good varierty with deserts , lunch items and chocolates. I am a regular customer I love the place!!
sounds divine!! thanks for sharing, I do enjoy a drive up that part of Victoria and next time I will try to go there for dessert
The cafe is well set up and has great food and drinks. There are activities (balls and colouring in) to entertain kids. The service from the wait staff was exceptional, they were friendly and polite and offered help even when not asked. After they had cleared our table and we were still sitting chatting someone brought us a glass of water each without us asking. The food was not cheap, but comparable with other similar establishments. Browsing in the chocolate shop was a lot of fun, and having free tastings of the chocolate pastilles is a welcome touch! The bathrooms are well set up for families, with one cubicle having a change table, a regular toilet and a kids toilet. Will definitely be returning both with and without the kids. The
We popped in here to check it out just after it had opened and to get an ice cream. There were not a lot of flavors to choose from but the 4 different ones we got were all delicious. Would certainly pop back in for another if we were going past!
It is a "chocolate shop", not really much to see of the making process but LOTS available to buy, a bit expensive I thought though.
There is also a large cafe in which the food looked really nice. Has great views. Will be a lovely spot to spend some time once the landscaping matures.
