After having wasted time and money at another swim centre where my son hardly made any progress, finding Yarraville Swim Centre has been amazing. My son is swimming unaided in less than a term. The owners Mark and Laura are wonderful teachers. They give just the right amount of push with plenty of praise which my hesitant swimmers need. The whole pool is shallow enough that my 7yo can touch the bottom so I can feel comfortable watching from the side and there are several areas fenced off with varying depths so that my youngest can feel secure to play as well.

I have been bringing my kids here for swimming since my eldest was one. The teaching is excellent and I love how all strokes are taught from a very young age. The owners really care about the quality of the teaching and have been super accomodating over the years. They really know all the kids there and their strengths and weaknesses and are adaptable at ensuring every kid is in the right class for them and being pushed to continue to learn.

Excellent teachers. My daughter had been attending another swim school for two months and we could not see any progress with regards to swim techniques. She was still swimming in the pool with swim aids. Within 2 weeks of attending YSC, she had learnt fundamental swim strokes and breathing techniques. 6 weeks down the track she is swimming independently without swim aids. Super impressed with the swim program. Mark, the owner, is so personable and professional. Can’t recommend enough.

My 6yo son has been attending swimming lessons at various different swimming schools since he was 6 months old. I didn't realise he didn't know how to swim until he followed some friends and jumped into a pool one day and instead of swimming back to the ledge he started treading water, so although he had some skills to stop himself from drowning, he panicked and didn't know what to do in this unfamiliar environment.

That was 14 months ago. Since starting at YSC my son can not only swim back safely to the ledge but also multiple laps in their 25m pool.. in all four strokes!

My 3yo daughter has also improved immensely. At the start of this year she was too scared to enter the pool on her own, she is now floating independently on her back and can swim a few metres underwater and without any aids.

Cannot recommend YSC highly enough. The instructors really make it their mission to teach your kids how to swim.

My five year old has been swimming at Yarraville Swim Centre since she was 6 months old. Last week I watched her swim in her new squad class where she swam 40 laps of 25 meters. That's 1km in total. Even more impressive was that this 40 laps was in 4 different strokes not just freestyle. She has been taught freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly since she was an infant and it is really paying off. When she got out of the pool she told Mark, her coach she would swim 50 laps next week. Which she did. Being able to have my daughter in a squad at only 5 is fantastic. Mark and Laura (Owners and teachers at YSC) recognised she had a talent and went out of their way to get her into squad.

It's not just the swimming that impresses me about Yarraville Swim Centre. It's the personal care that make this swim school so amazing. For example, I also have 3 year old twins. For those of us blessed with twins and a toddler you know how hard it can be to manage to get out of the house, let alone fit in swimming lessons. The team at YSC were happy for me to have one twin in the baby lessons each week and alternate them, whilst only paying one membership and one lesson fee. Now at 3 years of age, they are both swimming all 4 strokes. This would not have been possible if I hadn't been able to start them early.

Shocker of a joint...bangs on about being a local service but charges like a a wounded bull for a facility that is borderline dangerous and at best unhygienic. Massive staff turnover, and big attitude problem from owner and senior staff. Stay clear, look at MAC or Kensington YMCA instead. Those guys are interested in progressing your kids through the system, not cutting corners and making money.

I have been taking all three of my children to Yarraville Swim Centre for all up 8 years. They have all progressed very quickly into strong, confident swimmers. The teaching staff are of high experience and allowing the children to have a play before and after their lessons builds on their confidence which sees them progress quicker. You would be doing your children a favour by starting them at Yarraville Swimming Centre. I can't recommend them highly enough.

I have three children 6 and below and we have been coming here for lessons for two years.
They offer a very personal and flexible service, which is particularly helpful for families trying to organise lessons for multiple kids.
All of my children love coming to the pool and look forward to their lesson - even though it can be quite challenging and they are often stretched. I like that the expectation is that your child will improve and progress rather than plateau for months on end. I also like that they teach all the strokes from a young age, with a particular emphasis on safety stroke.
As my children get older, I am looking forward to enrolling them in some of the other activities the club offers at the ibeach too.

I've been taking my 4year old for swimming lessons each saturday for about a year, and it's always a great way to start the weekend. I've never been disappointed. The facilities are a little basic, but the service and attention of the staff is absolutely fabulous. Each instructor my daughter has been with has been very good. She's developing very well and really enjoys the lessons. The instructors have been understanding when she suffers a knock to her confidence and pick up on her need for extra support and encouragement. It gives me great comfort that they follow a life saving approach and the lessons are clearly structured.

The management are great aswell. The prices are competitive, a little cheaper than other pools I'd tried. They have a very fair and flexible system to allow for make up classes which has made it very easy to manage regular attendance and makes it very affordable.

Parking is never a problem, and a play in the park next door is a bonus. I would thoroughly recommend the centre for young childrens swimming lessons, although I understand they have squads and training for older kids aswell.

We came here for a birthday party and all the children had a great time, including mine who is a little water-shy. The instructor/facilitator was very supportive and careful when the children were engaged in the water-fun activities and the pool was clean and well presented.

It's not a fancy place - the room at the back where the party was is just a room, but it has all the facilities you need anyway - big table and lots of chairs.

Where they are situated in Roberts Street near a park and a kindergarten, there's plenty of parking. And it's not a huge place which is better for some children when they are learning to swim.
