Great local physio. They have helped me with standard back troubles and given good advice and guidance. The pilates classes are great, if not a little expensive, but you can have peace of mind that you are doing appropriate rehabilitation and not going to do more damage to your existing injuries.
This was one of our highlights of a visit to FNQ. We loved our cruise with Bruce nad the kids are still talking about it. The whole experience was very positive. We saw heaps of animals, crocodiles, snakes, frogs, and an amzing variety of birds. Bruce was very down to earth and incredibly knowledgeable. The only problem was the hour went too quick. When we arrived back and were having our free slushy in their tea garden, Bruce helped our daughter record the names of all the things she had taken photos of and was very friendly. The souvenir shop was pretty good, and there was even a white lipped tree frog perched on the postcards, which was pretty funny. There are lots of Daintree River cruises to choose from, but I would have no hesitation in recommending this one.
We had a fantastic visit to this museum. There are sooo many specimens to look at. The lady at the desk was friendly and showed the kids some of the most interesting parts and also some live insects in some trees around the entry. There was also an amazing mask made of insects including the brillaint blue ulysses butterfly wings. The collection was vast and we certainly got our moneys worth. Our 9 year old and 6 year old each got quite a lot out of it. Worth a visit if you are lucky enough to be in the area!
Approximate cost: $25 family entry
This was the highlight of a recent holiday, I don't feel that I can adequately describe what a great day the family had here. There is a great mix of interest from the history aspects, personal determination, nature, and just something that you will never across elsewhere. It is something truly unique!
I would recommend going to the website to check out the basics and if you are anywhere in far north qld, make the effort to get there!
We had a great day, all of the staff were excellent and friendly, the tour was interesting and plenty of time for wandering around taking some beautiful photos and exploring the enormous property.
Good little pet shop. We have bought quite a few things from here, but no actual pets. They are friendly and really into their animals, which is nice to see. Were St is such a nice place to shop that I would rather shop here than a larger shopping centre, and the pet shop fits into the character of the street nicely.
This is a handy little deli if I have missed stocking up on something at the Vic Market. It is not amazing quality and freshness that I usually purchase, but nothing has ever been bad as such. It has a very good range including ready prepared meals and alcohol, so good for those nights when its hard to get your act together.
Parking is tricky, but there is extras out the back. Also handy that it is in a strip with a butcher, baker (no candle stick maker) greengrocer and florist.
Had a spinach gozleme here today. It was great, had a nice fresh flavour and was hot and delicious. Always a great spot to grab a quick lunch when in this part of the city
Approximate cost: $8.00 I think
I asked my 9 year old daughter what she thought of skaterz and this is what she said: "I LOVE SKATERZ I really like the games, the music and it is my favourite thing to do in the holidays"
It is a very well run centre with plenty of support in learning to skate and a nice family feel. There is basic food, hot chips, icecreams, coffee etc and tables to sit at while the kids do their thing. There is a section for party groups, not sure of party prices. Their website has all the session times (which are different in term times versus school holidays) and prices.
Good old fashioned family fun, worth giving it a try.
My children go there for swimming lessons and they are really happy there. It is also good for a general swim, there is a 25m lap pool, a toddler pool, two slides and a spa and sauna. For lap swimmers check lane availability because the lessons often take up most of the lanes. Occasional care available for younger children. There is a nice grassed area with a playground which is a good spot to have a mid swim picnic.
We love the Monty RSL. The balcony upstairs has a great view across the tree tops and sporting fields. The view gets a little messy late a night, but I'm usually out of there by then. The meals downstairs are good quality, broad menu offering plenty of choice. The staff are generally very good and efficient. There is also a free community bus on Friday and Saturday nights which leaves on the hour and will drop you home if that should become necessary.......
